Paul, an electrician, took care of a damaged 50 amp wire right away. He explained the procedure and options before he repaired the wire. He did a very neat job and cleaned up the work space carefully. He also made sure that the water heater is reset after the repair. I highly recommend Paul and the company for any issue. The price is always fair, which is a bonus.

HVAC system over 7K was installed on Jan 26 2021. Less then 3 years multiple problems and finally the blower is broken and I have to pay diagnostics and full labor for a unit that was faulty from the start which I asked them to replace due to multiple problems within the first 2 weeks and going forward. And they deny me buying the gold service plan to have free labor because the unit they installed less than 3 years ago won't qualify because the labor cost and diagnostic fee is more then the gold plan.

So no AC in this heath wave until the blower is replaced and no heat in that cold 2021-2022 winter for 2 days.

Below, I have posted the prior problems before this last problem:

I had Michael & Sons install a new hvac heating / ac system less than two years ago. The very first month I called them 3 or 4 times to come and change the system because of multiple problems I had. The system was shaking and vibrating like as if it was going to break the concrete it is installed on. I also had a hammer knocking noise coming from the pipes as if someone was knocking on the wall. After experiencing these problems air blowing from my vents was not half strong as the first time the unit was installed. I told them about these problems within the first 6 months and they sent technicians to fix the problems rather than replacing the faulty unit they had installed. I was told that vibrating heat pump was due to over loading the coolant at the installation and the very loud knocking noise was normal. Even
the multiple techs they sent were surprised at the loud knocking noise and callled the brand product service to inquire. Guess what I heard the last knocking sound this October and for some reason it stopped and started heavily leaking water from the heat pump. I called and explained these to their customer service they said I have no labor warranty and they would charge me a diagnostic fee and have me pay for the repair for a unit I had told them was broken and needed to be replaced the first month after they installed the unit. Michael & Son are not what they used to be pre covid. I wish I picked a cheaper contractor who would most certainly deliver much better customer service. I have the videos of the shaking and water leaking from my heat pump. Be aware and find a different company. I used to use them for every thing now I am warning people not to. We lost good customer service and looks like finding a honest business to contract is so difficult.

We had a flood that came through our light fixtures. Anthony came to inspect, gave us great feedback on our options and costs, was on time for the initial consult and install, and provided excellent communication throughout. We would use him and Michael and Sons again.

Willard came out to inspect my electrical wiring as I’m getting different quotes for Homeowners insurance. One of the Homeowners insurance companies asked a question about my wiring since my home was built in 1927 so I called Michael and Son who gave me a same day appointment for an inspection and luckily since I had a heavy up about 7 years ago very little work had to be done. Mr Willard Johnson came out and inspected the wiring and called it good. He could’ve sold me the sun but was very honest and a really nice guy! I will continue to use this company. Honesty is hard to find these days!!

Highly professional, extremely prompt same day service that fixed circuit breaker and installed some new wall outlets. The electrician could not have been any more knowledgeable and kind in sharing his expertise. Paul was our tech from Michael & Sons, will definitely be a repeat asking for him specifically. Awesome service!!

Bought a service plan, they came out and supposedly inspected the system and it worked fine. Two months…I called them to come fix the air because it wasn’t cooling… diagnosed an issue with the blower and capacitor switch or whatever it’s called. Ok fine how soon can you fix it…I have to order the part so I won’t know until it come in sometime next week! It’s over 90 degrees, that is unacceptable. Those parts should be kept in inventory especially this time of year. Won’t be using them going forward.

Highly recommend avoid electrical services from this company.

We’ve had a consultation that was rescheduled twice by the company and when the servicemen arrived finally on the third attempt - he left without providing a quote. The very next day we received a quote for services that were not representative of what was discussed during the consultation. We attempted to have it corrected by the customer service representative but she laughed and gave us an attitude which was not warranted as we were polite from start to finish. The lady informed us that we would receive a call back from the consultant to have it corrected but we were never contacted. After 5 days, we called back and the same lady provided the same poor quality of support.

I would of given ZERO stars, if possible.

5/5/2023 UPDATE: I received a call from the Michael & Sons' Customer Relations Dept the day after I posted my initial review. They wanted to better understand my concern. I again explained that while the scheduling representatives and technician's services were conducted in a professional, timely, and as desired method, I found the cost for these services to be exorbitant. The friendly CR rep, Frieda, agreed to look into this matter to see if any adjustments could be made on my behalf.

The next day, she called me back to let me know that a credit of $266 would be issued back to my CC account! I AM VERY IMPRESSED & APPRECIATIVE that they took into consideration my feedback and did their best to make this right for me. That's FABULOUS customer service!!! While their rates may still be on the higher side, their high level of service, time sensitive responsiveness, quality work, and 5-year warranty on their labor make this a company I can recommend and will remember if I have need of their services in the future.

5/3/2023 - Original Review:
The services Michael & Sons provided were an electrical assessment and repair of a circuit breaker and the assessment and replacement of 2 outlets. I provided the replacement outlets. The electrical technician, Liam, and phone representatives, Jasmin and Skylar, were very nice and professional.

However, I am very displeased at their fees. I was told there is a $69 fee that gets charged if I don't decide to have them provide the service. However, for the assessment and repair the rate is $268 per issue (parts for the repair are an EXTRA charge)!!! This is incredibly EXORBITANT!!! I ultimately paid $748, and that was after a $50 discount!!!

For the 2 outlets to be replaced Michael & Sons would have charged $185 per socket with a 1 yr warranty on the parts. I went to Ace Hardware and purchased the exact same plug that needed replacing for less than $30 EACH!!!

When I called the night before and asked for an estimate for the work, I was told no estimate was possible until they came on-site to assess the repair. However, the very first thing Liam told me was the cost of the assessment and repair, and he quickly pulled it up on his work tablet. I feel that initial answer by the representative was dishonest! The company knows that if you have an emergency repair you're much more likely to pay for it once they're on-site.

While the work was completed quickly and professionally, at these prices it darn well should have been and with tickets to a show and dinner included!

Buyers be aware.

I contacted them online after discovering I needed a standard balance installation for a new fridge. I also needed my garbage disposal replaced. Was able to make a quick and convenient appointment online. They confirmed ahead of time and arrived early in the installation window. Plumber was very courteous and explained what was happening. Pricing was fair and I was able to receive an itemized invoice. Glad I went with licensed professionals instead of part-time contractors who have done awful jobs in the last, and overcharged without being able to provide an invoice to explain. Will definitely use them again in the future.

Michael & Son Services are always dependable when it comes to my emergencies. They are more dependable than the home warranty company I pay for monthly. Their technician's are always professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Keep up the awesome job!!!
