Office staff, dispatcher, and plumber Chris G. were all very professional and cordial. Response was very fast. Chris unclogged the drain, and showed me on the snake camera his concerns with the piping. He offered four solutions for addressing the problems, complete with pricing.
While no one likes a clogged drain, my first experience with Preferred was very positive, and worthy of five stars. Special thanks to Chris for sharing his expertise.

In February of this year I received a discount flyer from Preferred advertising a big discount on a service inspection of my Air Conditioning unit. I made an appointment thinking I'd take advantage of this special. The flyer indicated that the technician would do a multi point inspection on my air conditioner to be sure it was clean and in good condition for the upcoming summer months. Upon arrival of the technician, he Immediately went into our attic to do, what he referred to as, a safety check of our furnace. This was not listed in the flyer for the air conditioning inspection. He Immediately told my wife that we had a carbon monoxide leak in one of our two furnaces (although he never tired the furnace on), and that our manifold had a crack in it and would need replaced. This upset me greatly as I now suspected that the flyer we received was nothing than a sales ploy to get into our house and drum up needless service and repair. I spoke to the technician on the phone and relayed my suspicion to him about a sales ploy. The technician went outside and my wife thought he was going to look at the air condoning units as described in their flyer. The technician never took the air conditioning units apart to conduct any service. He then told my wife that the units looked fine and that he had spoken to his boss and they were not going to charge us for any service call. A few days later I called another HVAC company to look at our furnaces for any issues or problems. This new company turned on both my furnaces and inspected both and found NO broken manifold, nor did he find any carbon monoxide leak. Think twice before calling Preferred for service.

First time using this company. Great experience. Technician explained everything he was doing. Very professional and efficient. Took his time and didn't rush through. Gave me suggestions, but no "hard sell" tactics. I will consider Preferred Home services for future home issues!

They were very thorough in explaining the equipment and how it would be installed. Their installation was prompt and just like they said it would be. It looks good and so far works perfect. Their installation men got it installed in a timely manner and they were very professional and likable and helped me understand how to operate the system. They went out of their way to be helpful.

I booked the promotion for an 89$ ac system 21 point inspection heading into the summer. I was just looking to have both of my HVAC systems serviced and ready for the summer. After the inspection of my attic unit for the upstairs, the tech told me I had carbon monoxide coming from my system. He said, by law, he must disconnect my unit making it inoperable. He then we into my crawl space and said I had even more carbon monoxide from that unit. He disconnected it as well and scheduled a salesman to come quote me a new furnace for both my upstairs and downstairs systems. The salesman during his workup, stated that I should look at replacing the hot water heater as well since it could be causing the carbon monoxide build up as well. Needless to say, I went from hoping for a simple ac system maintenance, to have to replace close to $15k worth of equipment.

After, the initial workup that day, I called a second HVAC company to come give me a second opinion. I had to pay for them to reconnect both of my systems and do a carbon monoxide test. That company found 0 carbon monoxide from any of my units. He said the units could run efficiently but did not need replacing.

I called preferred back and they sent another tech in who verified that there was 0 carbon monoxide. Preferred did pay my bills with the second HVAC company so I was thankful for that.

I was very close to replacing both of my systems based on a pressured experience with preferred. It felt very shady that the tech unhooked my units without verifying that they were actually producing carbon monoxide. And I was stuck with cold nights coming and my systems are disconnected and feeling like my family was at risk of poisoning. Whether or not this was an intentional pressured experience to get me to replace my systems or truly a freak mistake on the first techs part, I do not know. I just know that had I just followed preferreds guidance I would have spent a ton of money on something I didn’t necessarily need at this point. I will reiterate that they did cover my bill for the second company, I just think we could have avoided that all together with more redundancy and a second opinion.

UPDATE:
I spoke with a customer service representative and I was given the chance to express my concerns.. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with the rep and express my concerns with how my experience with their services went. I hope in the future that further redundancies are in place to prevent homeowners from making a decision under pressure because of a false reading of carbon monoxide. Thank you

Had maintenance service plan with this company and just recently had my second inspection. Some of the recommended repairs and observations in the tech's report didn't seem right. While the rep was overall friendly some of the language he used reminded me of scare tactics I've seen used by other high pressure sales companies. After inspecting the unit myself and not observing one of the major issues that I had with the tech's report I felt something wasn't right and wasn't sure if some of the other repairs he noted were warranted either. I contacted another company that reserviced/inspected the unit and made a needed repair (at a fraction of the cost that Preferred Home Services quoted). Overall they've lost my trust and I won't use again.

Had a great and easy experience. It was easy to set up an appointment and everyone I worked with was very kind. The issue that was causing a leak was found and resolve quickly. The price was very reasonable. I will definitely use this company again!
