    Our 4 year old complete Rheem system has broken and left us with no A/C in the middle of the summer for the 3rd time despite getting it serviced twice a year as recommended by A#1 Air. This time our compressor is bad and we have not been given an ETA on when to expect the part since it was not in stock. We are looking at potentially weeks without functioning A/C in 100+ degree temps.

    We purchased a system with an extended parts and labor warranty for these situations and yet we are still getting hit with a bill for $2,250 for 15lbs at $150/lb for refrigerant which is not covered under the parts and labor warranty. Keep in mind, wholesale cost right now is $16/lb for r410a. This is ridiculous and we as the customer have no choice but to pay this unless we void the warranty. This is just another way for A#1 Air to price gouge their customers after they have made a sale.

    We have spoken to the Customer Relations department several times and they have basically said it is what it is and you have to agree to it if you want your system to stay under warranty. We will not be recommending A#1 Air for any work and will not use them for any future purchases.

    In late August I noticed the temperature upstairs was back up to 85 degrees and not the normal 77 we set the AC to. I called A#1 Air to come back to check the upstairs AC unit and it was evident there was a gas/coolant leak in the system. Kaylie offered us three options. Option 1 was to add more refrigerant gas to the system. Option 2 was to repair the system. Option 3 was to purchase a complete new AC system. We chose Option 1 thinking it might get us into cooler weather where the AC would not be needed. This worked for a while.

    A week later (September 6, 2022) the upstairs temperature was back up to 85 degrees and never reached the 79 degrees we had the thermostat set to. So, we called A#1 Air and Kaylie G returned the same day in the afternoon. After discussing with her the options we decided to go ahead and replace the entire system since it was going on 10 years old and simply trying to fix the leak would cost close to half of what the new system would cost and only that part of the unit would have any kind of warranty. Kaylie was very helpful in making this decision and she made a call and let us know the new system could be installed the next day!

    I was surprised the the installation was able to be scheduled for the very next day at 8AM. The next day the installation crew of four or five guys showed up right on time. All of them were very polite and spoke english so communication was not a problem. The crew immediately moved furniture out of the way and laid down non-slip floor covering for our hardwood floors and carpeting up stair an in the hallway to protect the area from any dirt or damage. While two of the crew worked outside removing the old condenser the rest of the crew began removing the old HVAC unit from the attic. After it was removed the parts for the new unit were brought into the house and installation began in the attic.

    By 12:30PM the installation was done and a new smart thermostat was installed in place of the old thermostat. The cleanup was quick and I found no dings in walls or scratches on the floor or dirty spots on the carpets.

    During the process of inspecting the new HVAC unit I noticed the pilot light was out on one of our two water heaters. I don't know if the pilot light went out due to the blower the crew used to keep a bit of cooler air circulating in the attic or whether it had gone out prior to their arrival. I could not restart the pilot light but about 30 minutes after the crew had left I received a call from another one of A#1 Air's technicians saying that the installation crew told him about the pilot light issue and that he was on his way from Dallas to see if he could fix the problem. He arrived about 30 minutes later and quickly had the pilot light working again. Now THAT is what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE.

    IN SUMMATION: A#1 Air did a wonderful job. Their response was immediate. The installation of a new HVAC was scheduled for the very next day. How often does that happen? I have nothing to complain about. They arrived on time. They installed a new and much better HVAC unit and a Smart Thermostat, and left no sign of their ever being there; no stains, no gouges in the wall, scrapes on the hardwood floors, Etc.

    I could not be happier with the performance of the crew from A#1 Air that worked in my home. Yes, I highly recommend them.
