If you call Southern Comfort then ask for Luis. This man has integrity, he is gentle and empathetic and knows his business. You could not have a bad experience if he is your service man.

Companies are built on people. The first time I called SCM) many years ago I was wowed by the (then) owner’s dedication to service. I now feel that passion in Luis as backed by his support staff (thanks, Megan).

Way to go, turning a 1-star review into a 5. You worked for it and I appreciate your service!

Update: Luis is awesome! This man figured it out and worked hard to make sure I was happy. If you’re lucky enough to pull Luis as your technician on a service call you’re good.

After my previous poor review because the technician was bad I continued to have problems with my a/c because the problem was mis-diagnosed, which caused me to spend lots more money then was needed to still not fix the problem.

I ended up buying a new evaporator coil when the freezing problem was due to a bad thermostat not turning on the blower. I’m only a couple grand in the hole over that which is why this is 4 not 5 stars.

Luis even determined that the previous technician, Martin, overcharged the coolant (at significant expense to me) and asked the office to refund that cost.

I plan to request Luis for additional work I want done on Monday morning.

ORIGINAL BAD EXPERIENCE BELOW

I needed a new evaporator coil to get my upstairs unit cooling. When, on the initial evaluation, the technician quoted a price I asked if that price included recharging coolant after. The technician, Martin, replied that the coolant smelled sour and might need to be replaced but they would capture and recharge with my existing coolant.

I know that coolant does not spoil so I figured this was just your typical up-sell attempt so I ignored it and agreed.

The day of repair he hit me up for an extra $500 for coolant because “the compressor is not strong enough to evacuate the coolant”. This “issue” was not mentioned in the initial evaluation.

I think this was deceptive but I didn’t want to hassle with it so I just paid the add-on. I’m disappointed that SCM is not as easy to deal with as it used to be. I think I might have to start looking for an alternative provider.

I had a guy come out to inspect my ac after my home warranty company failed to send out a decent technician.
The technician cfrom southern comfort came out and thoroughly inspected my ac.

Given me a lot of detail on the entire system and providing me multiple options to get it functional again.

I thought they were very good and professional from what i heard from my friend, but I had a threatening and very bad experience. I called them up as my AC bills are soaring. the guy came in initially and said everything is fine including the airflow and temperature there is nothing he can do about the bill, I thought the guy was helping me, then started testing out my outside units with some messed up tools and let my HVAC charge down, and told me that is what happens when they test, as I was not that knowledgeable and I did not know what he was doing but now after I researched online there will be very minimal loss, but not 30-60 sec of hissing out of gas , he made me sign to charge my HVAC, I started to realize that he did it just to get money from me, when I said I need to talk call and talk to their company. he threatened me that he will mess my HVAC and remove the charge and mentioned that's how they work if I don't pay him on the spot.
Even though I lose this money I think with my issue unresolved, but I better stay away from such people.

From start to finish, I had an excellent experience with Southern Comfort Mechanical. Luis came out quickly to give me an estimate. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and made a small adjustment while he was here that helped improve our situation right away. Then Luis and Mike arrived on the scheduled day on time and were very professional and efficient, even cleaning up after themselves and making sure all of my questions were answered. I highly recommend this company!
