I have to start this review by saying "Wow!" In all my years of dealing with professionals I have never been treated as poorly as I have by Mid-State and now I have to lose a day at work to go to court and defend myself over a bill that I never even received.

Here's the story in a nutshell. Mid-State installed our heating and air conditioning a number of years ago. We have consistently had problems with it ever since. In May, when the temperatures climbed into the 90s, sure enough we clicked our air conditioner on and got nothing. We called and Mid-State sent out a tech. The guy was clueless, he spent a few minutes looking at the unit while he was on the phone with someone then told us what he thought the problem was. We asked to get a call back from someone who might be more knowledgeable and to schedule repairs. We never got that call. After a few frustrating days of sweltering in our home (and sleeping in the basement because it was the only cool spot) my husband and I decided enough was enough. We called another service. They showed up that day and fixed the problem immediately.

My husband gave Mid-State a very well deserved poor review and we both figured that was the end of things. Till this weekend when I got served papers to appear in small claims court over an unpaid bill.

Mid-State is claiming the service call was a billable service and we now owe them $140 for that plus $50 in court fees. Meanwhile we never received a bill for that service call because if we had we would have called them and said "are you KIDDING me???"

Like I said I know my husband has already reviewed them and a few people have reached out to him and thanked him for the review and warning not to use this company but after being taken to small claims court I am now motivated to do the same. BEWARE of this company!!! They have the worst service and apparently the only way they can be profitable is to sue past clients over bills they never even sent. Hard to believe.

Now I have to go figure out who is going to cover my clients on the day I have to be in court. I will not only lose money that day since I'm self-employed but since I do home health care for the elderly my poor clients who rely on me so much will have to go without me that day. My husband and I are meeting with a lawyer to find out if we can file a counter claim for this frivolous small claims suit to reimburse me for the lost day of work. Pretty amazing right?

I wish I could leave zero stars because that's what they deserve!

Mid State installed our heating and air conditioning unit 9 years ago. Every year we have problems and every year its something that is somehow mysteriously not covered under any warranty. We've shelled out so much money on this thing and it still doesn't work. Last week when it hit 90, we were sleeping in the basement because it wouldn't turn on. Meanwhile a clueless technician shows up, looks at it and says Somebody's gonna have call you back. 3 days later. Still no phone call. I'm done!!! I'd rather start from scratch with another company then continue giving Mid-State money to fix problems that they themselves have created.

Beware of this company. You've been warned

Nothing but problems from day one with this company after redoing my entire house heating system especially with the instant water heater. I have tried my best to be patient but finally give up after dealing with another service call issue. Everytime I schedule with them they always show up late or don't come and the one time I ask them to be here by a certain time and even call to confirm they still have an excuse about time. If you like sitting around all day wondering if and when they will show up this is the company for you

Had to replace a broken furnace and decided to get a new furnace and AC unit. Chose Mid-State because it was the cheapest option. They came in a couple of months ago to replace it them and when they were done the techs told me that everything went well, that my AC was going to start cooling once the hot air and humidity left the house. They also told me that the permits to inspect my house would come within a week or two. The permits took way longer than two weeks to arrive and that day the temperature in my house never went below 80 degrees. My AC does cool, but it is on all day and sometimes (if it's really hot) it only cools down to between 76 and 78 degrees. I didn't put much thought into this because I live in an old trailer. After the permits came in, I scheduled the inspection just to have my home fail the plumbing inspection. The techs forgot to extend the drain of the condenser from under crawlspace to outdoors. Called them multiple times to have them come in to have them come in and fix it, multiple times they said they would give me a call back and they never called me back. It wasn't until I offered to take time off work that they finally came in. Tech guy (different one from installation day) goes under the crawlspace to fix what the fail inspection sticker said, and when I mention that my system isn't cooling properly he tells me that it's thermostat (the one thing they didn't replace). I go and schedule another inspection and swap the thermostat multiple times to no avail. The inspector comes in again and tells me that I have a major air leak under the house, and that it is coming out of the main connection between the blower and the air ducts. He also tells me that this fails the inspection because it is a major escape on a connection that the HVAC contractor is responsible for. So I call Mid-State multiple times again, having to miss work again just to have their guys never show up and when the tech guy (one of the ones that installed the equipment initially) finally comes in again and goes under the crawlspace and tells me he found the leak but he tried to taping it shut but won't work and that we will need parts that he doesn't have and so he needs to let his manager know. So he leaves, a day or two later I get an email with a proposal: $350 to fix an air leak that they thought wasn't going to happen by taping the blower duct to the air ducts because apparently "it is an existing problem that was there prior the installation". I didn't have any air leaks, though, and they gave me the excuse that is because "the new equipment ducting doesn't match your house's ducting". That is not an existing problem. One way or another, even if the tech guys noticed the leak or not, it is a problem that they created and that they are responsible for. So, basically, the guys came in, taped the blower to the air ducts (improper installation), and they are charging me to fix it? My electric bill is DOUBLE than it EVER has been (I have the bills to prove it), my AC is still on the whole day, they keep failing to meet inspection requirements, and now they charging me to fix all the problems THEY caused for all this time. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PEOPLE.

Mid-State was the absolute worst contractor I have ever hired. They were all too eager to cash my check from the NJ energy saver program. Mid-state installed a heating system, on demand hot water heater and "sealed" my crawl space. Total hack job. Once the job was allegedly "complete" we had several issues and was actually first name basis with NJ Natural Gas emergency service. We had to call them numerous times for gas leaking from our pipes due to mid-state's improper installation. The vapor barrier they installed was toxic and emitted noxious fumes. I just paid $2,300 to rectify all of their mistakes. Stay away!

1 star is too good for the experience I had with this firm! My faulty AC unit, they told me could not be fixed and had to be replaced at a cost of $4500. A lot of money, so I got a second opinion. Another company diagnosed a faulty part which they replaced at a cost of $35. At best the engineer misdiagnosed the issue and doesn't know what he is doing or at worst they were trying to get $4500 out of the situation - I left repeated msgs and emails to highlight this issue and get my call out charge refunded. Noone has responded. Unless you want to pay for more than you need avoid this firm, I would not trust them!

Worst company ever. Unorganized. Receptionists are not able make appointments when needed. They Do not inform you there is a charge for a technician to come to your house until a technician has left. Technicians are not knowledgable in their job. Dirty work. AC replacement failed township inspection and now company is doing everything in their power not to re-do the job. Not a reliable company.

Responsive, reasonably priced, and excellent service staff.

After going through two hot water tanks, I decided to go tankless and contacted Mid-State as they are authorised dealer for Navien products and was also referred by my friends.

Dewin Diaz (the technician) came bright and early and single handedly took out the 75 gallon tank, undid everything, re-piped and installed the tankless system without a hitch. Towards the end, Val cane and took care of the electrical connections and finished the installation.

So far so good and if anything changes on the plumbing, I will update. All in all, I am happy with their work.

Response was great. Service techs Pat and Jamie were very good. A bit disappointed in the price of the pressure switch. I thought the price of $289 for this switch was way out of line when I could have bought it on line for $50. Can this be re-adjusted down a bit? I would not hesitate to use your service in the future BUT based on the price of this part I might think twice. I am the VP on the board for Equestra and we use your service and satisfied with M-S. I also have recommended your company to other residents in Equestra to use your service. Recently you serviced one of my neighbors. Please consider a price reduction on this part. Thanks, Dennis Morieko

First time I used Mid-State and they were wonderful to work with. Jaime was my technician and he was patient, understanding and explained everything in great detail. Fixed my problem after diagnosing it correctly.
