Company was hired to install a generator. The work they did was hazardous with gas lines dangling in the air not anchored down. They were supposed to put the line in the ground and did one of the worst jobs you could ever imagine. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. The salesperson is a snake and misled my wife and the work is total amateur. They even started the job without permits filed which is illegal. Can't wait to see them in court since they are suing us for their garbage work. Stay far far away from these people.

My wife Sandy and I began reaching out to heating and cooling contractors about six months ago after our central air conditioning unit began to fail. In the process we became aware of The New Jersey Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program that offered significant rebates and favorable loan terms for home energy projects that met their criteria. Their website also listed certified and participating contractors that were qualified to do the actual work. We called and met with several of these contractors and chose Mid-State to conduct the project. This decision was made based on the apparent knowledge and professionalism of the representative and the no nonsense approach to informing us about the NJ rebate/loan program and the project in its entirety.

The mechanics/workers were courteous and very knowledgeable about the services they were providing. Their work was state-of-the-art and they kept everything clean. In the end Mid-State’s job foreman patiently explained every aspect of our new system and all of it’s workings. The savings on our gas bills has far exceeded our expectations! Bills over the last three months have reflected at least a 75% savings from last year which wasn’t as cold as this year. We keep thinking the gas company must be making an error!

Sandy and I would, without reservation recommend Mid-State for any homeowner’s heating and cooling and home performance needs!

Last year, I used Mid-State to repair the heating system in my house. It was a frustrating experience, as the problem was "solved" several times, only for the heating to break again. All-in-all, they must have come by about a half-a-dozen times in over two weeks to fix errors they either misdiagnosed or, in some cases, caused (at one point, someone had installed a panel upside down!). However, the heat eventually worked and I had a one year warranty, so I let bygones be bygones.

Now, less than a year later, the heating is malfunctioning again - and they want more money just to come out and inspect it. Apparently the one year warranty provides no coverage. If I had known that I would be required to pay additional money within a year, I would pulled the plug last year after the continual screw-ups.

So, that's my story. Nearly $1000 spent for a heating repair that was poorly handled, couldn't last a year, and a fraudulent warranty. I would not recommend.

EDIT TO ADD: The response below is just icing on the cake. Let's just look at what happened in May. I was told my warranty did not cover the cooling, only the heating (even though I suspected that something they did when fixing the heating broke the cooling). Therefore, I went to another company. Now, they say that changing the cooling violates the warranty for the heating, because they suspect that fixing the cooling broke the heating! Doesn't that beat all?

So if the heating and cooling are connected, they should have honored the warranty in May. But wait, that's the warranty that expired in 90 days? Who knows, they can't keep their story straight.

If you read of these reviews, many of the 5 stars are from people who have had their first experience with them, and if I had written a review last November, I might be agreeing with them. But almost all the 1 stars are from people who have had to repeated interactions with this company. They treat their customers as ATMs and do not stand by the quality of their work.

Terrible service and unresponsive to phone calls. Tech blew out my thermostat and furnace control panel while trying to repair air. I told him the thermostat sparked and went off and he did not say why. Just said unit needed to be replaced. Salesman came and gave us a very high price. When we said we would get more estimates his personality changed. Have been calling office since Tuesday July 3 to speak to manager or owner. Finally got a call back on July 6 and he told me I am out of luck for the almost $200 service fee (to break things that were not broken) and I need to submit invoices for thermostat and control panel. When insurance pays them they will pay me. He admitted that his service tech admitted that he crossed wires and blew them out when questioned. We will see how long that takes. Terrible business practices.

8/2 UPDATE

Just received a letter from Brian stating that for my claim to co tune that the 2 parts ruined by his tech must be returned. Exact opposite of what he told me a month ago so I discarded them. I followed up with a call which became very unpleasant. He now says that his tech did burn the parts out but he I stalked other parts that I was not charged for. REALLY? He also asked my "why do women babble so much?" so he is not only a sheister but a misogynist. See you in court!

I had Mid-State install a Generac standby generator. It was the most professional job done in my house in the 22 years I have lived here. They came at the promised time, finished on time and when they left, my house looked as if no one was ever here. I cannot recommend them high enough

I've been pleased to have Mid-State work in my home each time I needed HVAC work since 2010. Every person I've met from Mid-State has been considerate and knowledgeable. The owner, Brian, is a gentleman and makes certain his customers are satisfied.

Mid-state replaced both HVAC systems at my house. I hired them in 2010 and again in 2012. In 2016 I had them do another job - to replace a very old copper line set that had a slow leak.

All three jobs were done well with fine workmanship. Every concern or question I raised was handled sensibly. This company stands behind their work. My two systems are now reliable and I'm pleased with the work.

Overall I’m happy with the company and all the work they have done for me. Ronda is great and understandable and very pleasant to deal with. They should keep a better eye on their customer experiences with their technicians especially when something unexpected happens. But they did reach out and offerEd to correct the issue which is all I wanted in the first place.

Since the installation of my $21,000 system 4 months ago I have had to make 2 service calls for malfunctioning equipment. Both circumstances took time to resolve. The last time I called the technician told me to express my concerns with TRANE even though mid state did not give me another brand to choose from. They did not take responsibility for the equipment they force you to install. Upon completion of the installation I received a check for $14,000 from the state that is supposed to be passed along to mid state. They receive an email when the check is being mailed so they know when to expect it. They called me on a daily basis to check if the check was delivered so they can pick it up. I was even given the personal cell phone number of a women who works in the office to notify her if the check came over the weekend. As soon as it arrived the owner was at my door 7 AM the next morning to pick up his money. And since then my equipment has broken twice with no accountability.

Buyer BEWARE very dishonest company. They were sent to my house by HomeServe because my air conditioner was not working they told me it could not be fixed and I had to replace it. I had my friend come over and look at it ( he works for PSE&G) he charged it with Freon and it’s worked no problem. I had another problem with my other property and again HomeServe sent Midstate over they told me I had a coil problem the furnace and condenser were on two different Freon it had all kinds of issues refused to submit the repair ticket to HomeServe said it needed to be replaced. This unit was only installed five years ago!!! Had the guy who installed it come over he checked the filter it was clogged!!! Works beautiful!! They are very DISHONEST!!!!!! Do not trust them get a second opinion!!!

Mid state was prompt, fair and honest with their assessment and quote, and extremely professional. The installers were polite and clean and did a fantastic job. They secured all permits and even registered our unit with the manufacturer. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
