Kylar did a great job of explaining in layman's terms how our HVAC system worked and troubleshooted the issue I was experiencing. He also installed a humidifier for our HVAC system and was patient even while needing to explain certain things to me multiple times...a incredibly helpful and kind professional!

Excellent from start to finish. Greg Schmidt was our customer service representative. He was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Installation of our new air conditioner and furnace went smoothly. Also, we had a water heater replaced and that went well. We were given a nice gift a week later from the company. We are happy with Cate's. No complaints. Very professional and knowledgeable.
Recently,we had a problem with the shaft on the motor Greg delivered a new motor 7:15pm and Derrick replaced it and didn't leave our home until almost 8pm. Their dedication is amazing.

We are beyond thrilled that we found Cates!
We were shocked with disappointment after being told by a different company that we "should" replace our entire system for $9k, but to get our AC working again, we needed to replace the AC compressor for $4k.
Enter Cates:
We had called Cates to get an estimate for a new condenser unit and/or system. The man who answered the phone reassured us that they were interested in helping us make the best decision for our needs. This was already feeling much different than the first company we called.
Cates estimator was not only able to diagnose the actual problem with our condenser (something the other company "overlooked"), but he FIXED the issue (photo of problem) and inspected the rest of our HVAC, in under 1 1/2 hours and for under $100! The rest of our HVAC was in good condition and he recommended we have a tune up done for the summer.

Awesome customer service. Fantastic tech!!! Our service tech, Dan, walked me through all the trouble shooting. Made a few adjustments to our noisy furnace. Now it runs quiet and worry free. Even took the time to give me an in depth tutorial on all the crazy functions my thermostat can do (ie heat pump, delay, even change the color on background and font). He also made sure that all the sensors settings were correct and programmed to optimal efficiency. Now my thermostat is as excited for the Super Bowl as I am! GO CHIEFS!!!

I use Cates for my home and also another building I'm responsible for. The technicians are knowledgeable and follow-up on any issues (a rare occurrence) quickly. I've also witnessed some pretty creative troubleshooting when unusual problems crop up.

Update:
During my last Spring Tune-up (2023) I left a hose and nozzle out for the tech to clean the condenser. This was not done and, to be fair may not be a part of the tune-up package. However, the technician had opened the unit up (I assume to inspect the capacitor and get current draws) and did not replace the cover properly. Neither screw was engaged and he simply kicked some mulch against the bottom to keep the panel in place. There was at least a one inch gap on each side and the cover was bent. I managed to get things back in place but should not have had to do that. Poor and lazy craftsmanship in my opinion. I'm currently responsible for 14 HVAC units on another commercial property and am not overly pleased with the current vendor but will not consider Cates because of this. I'm also not sure I'll keep Cates on contract at my home moving forward and will definitely be looking at other vendors when the time comes to replace my 21 year old HVAC system. Very disappointing after a decades long relationship.
