Cates Heating & Cooling

Did a good job but this morning the ac did not come on it was 78 in house. I thought the guy set a schedule for the thermostat. I guess not I set it to 73 and hold. I would prefer a thermostat that had a light like my old one.

We have used Cates for years and have found them to be professional and responsive. Always on time and do great work.

We are long term (30+ year) customers of Cates - and would not think of going anyplace else. They remain one of the last family owned HVAC service providers in KC, and it shows - the commitment to professionalism, quality and customer service is, in our experience, the best in town. Would recommend them without hesitation to anybody - also, as people who have owned multiple homes in different places, would add that you get what you pay for where HVAC is concerned. Low cost providers rarely justify the savings, while a professional firm like Cates means you can count on both the long term and short term value.

Absolutely fantastic! After dealing with 3 other A/C companies I was a bit nervous about hiring anyone as I had been lied to about what I needed. Finally, another company Temperature Pro (also very good - but couldn't install the unusual system we needed at the time) recommended Cates. That said a lot to me - if someone in the business says that is who they would use - spoke volumes. From the very beginning Pat Marsh in sales to the installers - a father and son team- (Preston and sorry I can't remember the Dad's name!) were outstanding! The epitome of customer service and professionalism. Could not have been happier. Timely, tidy and very well versed in everything HVAC. This was a really big job and they were super efficient. Without reservation I would highly recommend!!

Great company. Knowledgeable technicians. Affordable and loyal to their customers. Cates offers great prices on maintenance plans and even offer a plan that covers some of the cost on repairs.

We have used Cates for preventative heat/cool maintenance for several years, but finally needed heat/cool replacement with surprise water heater replacement. They were very responsive with next day installation. Great overall experience!

2023 Update - I have a annual maintenance contract with Cates and they have always done good work. I had to call today because my furnace was shutting itself off - with outside temps in the single digits. They got a technician out the same day - Darnell was very professional and knowledgeable. He quickly figured out the problem, had the part on his truck, and fixed the problem quickly. Great service from a great company. Highly recommend.

I could not be happier with my service from Cates. Dillon and Dwan were professional, knew what they were doing, and very efficient. Top-notch service. This was my first time using Cates and I am happy that they will be doing my annual maintenance in the future and any other repairs I need.

Professional, prompt and fairly priced. They went above and beyond when installing our new furnace to replace the corroded and improperly installed one that came with the house we bought earlier this year. They even took care of a few related tasks to bring our heating system up to code and didn’t charge us a penny above bid. Very happy with our new furnace which is way more efficient than the original one.

Don’t use this company, I hired them to check the heater because it wasn’t working properly. They charged me $2,300 usd and the heater never work. I called several times and the employees answered very rude, the technician never repair anything, he didn’t even change the belt for the heater to be working properly. I don’t think he new what he was doing, he even told me that I needed to buy the whole unit new. I call the owner of the building and they repaired all the mess the technician from cates made in less than an our. Technician from cates charge men for a part that was like $200 he charged me $1,200.
They are very unprofessional and untrustworthy. They don’t even do the job right.

I had Cates come out and look at my heater that wasn’t working. They claimed that my inducer motor was blown and I would need to pay almost $1,400 to have it replaced. The next day I had another company come look at it and he said that the motor was just seized up and within about 30 seconds he had it unseized and blowing hot air again. Only cost me $65. I sure wish Cates would’ve done that when they were there rather than trying to charge me almost $1400 for a new motor when all it needed was to be unseized.
