Service call experience. Just AWFUL. We had to call twice before the dispatcher got someone in touch with us. When the tech arrived three days later, he sat in our driveway on his phone for 30 minutes (a personal call; I was also outside) before coming to the door. Then he “worked” for 10 minutes and charged me $90. Presumably we were paying mostly for the honor of having him in our driveway for half an hour, not for the 10 minutes it took him to open the HVAC unit and glance inside.
Beyond that; we were told our compressor is burned out and that to replace it would be $3k - which, sure. He said that we should just replace the unit and someone from Cook’s would be in touch to sell us one (omg what a surprise). That was - 10 days ago? Two weeks? - and we haven’t heard a whisper from them.
So, we’re out $90 and still have to call someone else to get a legitimately professional job done.

The installer was professional enough but didn't offer any other recommendations other than to 'buy a new unit.' I have had this particular problem with the unit in the past and fixed it with another company just fine. I felt that Cook's was more interested in selling me a new unit than they were in helping me resolve my problem.

Called to have someone come check out our gas furnace that seemed to be limping along. Got an appt about two days out and the technician arrived within the noted time. Took about 45 minutes for him to inspect the ~30 year old unit, find the problem, solve it w/o requiring difficult (or impossible) to find parts, and had us back up & running. He asked about the desire for a return visit to quote a new unit (since ours was pretty old), but he didn't push when I declined. Total cost was $130. Based on this experience, I'll definitely use Cook's again & call them when our current unit actually goes belly up.

This appointment was for a bi-annual servicing of my HVAC unit. Service was excellent. Shon did a great job checking and cleaning every element. Since I am new to this house, he went over every step thoroughly as he did it and took ample time to explain routine maintenance to me. Since I was unfamiliar with this procedure (having moved from another state), I had a lot of questions. He was extremely patient, going over everything until I understood it. This was probably one of the best service calls I have ever had.

Technician was friendly and helpful. He cleared a clogged drain line for my heatpump and inspected the unit after to make sure everything was working properly. Answered lots of questions and let me know what specific areas to watch for to identify any future issues. Will definitely use them again!
