The Heat Pump Store

We needed to make some changes in our home. Our upstairs has two aging, under-performing gas furnaces that cover nine rooms and a long hall with vaulted ceilings (About 2600 sq ft.). We needed a better heating solution as well as FINALLY adding air conditioning to our upstairs living area. We got several bids on differing solutions, all of which suggested a $25K to $30K expenditure. We then contacted Todd Hutchens at The Heat Pump Store. Todd arrived and did a thorough assessment of our requirements and offered a solution that we had not considered. We didn't know about ductless heating and cooling, but Todd explained how it all works, answered all of our endless questions, made a recommendation, and offered us a very reasonable cost. We decided that we liked what he had to say and bought a Panasonic 36K BTU multi-unit outdoor compressor with a 24K BTU indoor wall unit and a 15K BTU wall unit for the master bedroom. Installation was on time and finished excellently. So far, our new system is performing flawlessly. It is very quiet and keeps our rooms temperatures wonderfully warm. February was 28 degrees outside while our house remains at a very comfortable 70 degrees. Our old gas furnaces have remained completely idle since our installation. We are amazed at how much range these units offer and the extremely low maintenance needed. From start to finish The Heat Pump Store gave us an excellent product, excellent service and very professionally installed. If you are seeking a new heating/cooling system, look no further.

This outfit may be fantastic at installing new systems, but I am thoroughly unimpressed with their support maintaining and troubleshooting my existing one. I purchased a home with mini splits (recently) installed by this store. When they stopped working a few months after I bought the house, I called them out. The visit went smoothly enough and everyone was very professional at the time. Then I was told I had a coolant leak in my wall that would require replacing the entire system for roughly $15,000. After subsequently getting a second opinion by a second company that actually attempted to locate the leak using a UV-activated fluid (it was on the outside unit coils…), I was informed by the second company that I was still under the original warranty and all diagnostic/repair costs (including the ones I paid to the Heat Pump Store to look into the same issue) should still be fully covered. Not only did the Heat Pump Store attempt to scam me into a very expensive and unnecessary upgrade (for their benefit), they also failed to disclose warranty coverage I was unaware of (that another provider found very easily and shared openly). I would not recommend this company to anyone I cared about and will not use them again.

I had a wonderful experience with the Heat Pump Store Portland office. They were recommended by a family friend and I am so glad I did business with them. I was shopping around for HC/Heat for my condo and their price was very reasonable compared to other companies in the Portland area. Tim, the sales rep., was kind, curious and very professional. Their communication is quick and so was the install. I am VERY happy with my AC/heating unit and its worth every penny. Save yourself time and go with the Heat Pump Store, they are excellent.

Surprisingly responsive in all interactions with members of their team in sales, finance, and service. Provided a spot-on assessment of the building’s heat pump needs that would provide coverage for two floors over all seasons. Final bid for selected equipment and installation was very competitive. Installation team was well staffed and experience resulting in a beautiful installation. In all, a great experience and highly recommended.,

Rhonda and the rest of the Heat Pump Store team have been incredible to work with. We had a newborn when our ductless system was installed and they were accommodating and speedy with the installation. We just had a small maintenance issue come up and they sent out an electrician same day and fixed it in a jiffy! 100% would recommend!

Installation of a mini-split system with 4 heads into a 100-year old house. We talked with 3 contractors around similar systems (one also used Daikin, the other Mitsubishi). The Heat Pump store was the most reasonably priced (seriously, another location with the SAME MANUFACTURER/MODEL was almost double, insane) They didn't try to upsell, we discussed how the lines would look on the side of the house, and where the outdoor unit would reside. We went into their showroom and looked at the standard and the fancy air handler, and ultimately chose to get the fancy air handler in all of the rooms as we like the streamlined look better. We got on their schedule, all the stuff arrived on time (we booked out a couple months. Don't wait, people!!) Install took one day (a very solid day for them).

Was absolutely everything perfect? Come on, is anything in construction ever perfect? There's always one little thing or another to work through, and if you don't understand that, then I feel sorry for your contractors.

The important thing is that they responded and addressed two cracked outdoor shingles once we spotted it (which is the old asbestos shingle, so brittle) afterwards, no complaints. We worked through the various day-of-install tweaks that needed to be done (adjusting where the outdoor lines would run), confirming indoor placement, etc. They demonstrated how to work everything at the end of the day.

Oh, and pro-tip? If you are planning on painting, paint the area where the air handler will go before installation. Then you don't have to try to work around it :-)

We had our Heat Pump system installed about a year ago. We have been pleased with both the heating and cooling. What I wanted to say is that our experience with staff has been excellent, starting with Jan who started the process and onto today with Alexis who did our yearly cleaning and maintenance. Awesome! This one word describes the team at The Heat Pump Store. Not only was their bid competitive, the work is top notch, the team was very fast and efficient, and did a great job. From estimating, planning, scheduling and installing, these guys were on top of it all. We went with a Daikin system with low wall units. The team was able to route the lines to our two zone system into the knee wall in front of the house and the system is nearly invisible from the front of the home. Also, it is nearly silent as well, both outside and inside.

As always, go ahead and get your three bids for your job but you can't go wrong with The Heat Pump Store. Our 2nd floor too hot problem is now solved!

Excellent service from start to finish installing our new multi-zone ductless heat pump. They did a thorough site evaluation, sent a clear, competitive no-nonsense bid, and patiently answered my questions. Our situation had some complications, and they accomodated all of them with common sense flexibility. Installation crew was professional, fast and clean. Highly recommended.
