Outstanding, professionals. I needed a new heat pump and was so happy to be able to make an appointment, have it confirmed and the tech showed up exactly when he said he would. Billy was so knowledgable and his years of expertise clearly showed. He gave me two quotes and the one I selected was accurate to the penny. The guys that came out to do the installation were right on time, installed everything to code and were actually nice people to get to know. Everyone in this company has been trustworthy, experts and true professionals. What a gift these days. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike's to anyone.
I would strongly urge anyone to trust the professionals at Mike's Heating and Cooling. Billy was very thorough and gave me options that met my needs. The install crew showed up on time and went above and beyond to exceed my expectations.
Will, the technician who serviced our HVAC, was fantastic. He communicated well, was friendly and professional, was thoroughly helpful and knowledgeable, and was on time and efficient. I am grateful for his “over and above” service.
Mike's helped me out when my furnace died in the middle of a cold spell. They brought over some industrial strength space heaters so I wouldn't freeze to death and had my new furnace in and running within a week. They have performed other services for me and have always been on time, patient, knowledgeable and able to explain things to me in terms I understand. I really appreciate them!
One of my heat pumps installed in 2006 along with the gas furnace needed replacement due to age related problems. I asked their salesman Billy to inspect the house and make recommendations on a new system. Since cooling is rarely used because of our elevation and heating is our primary use of the system I asked him to quote equipment that will handle our heating needs without a gas furnace. He quoted a Trane system with a Heating Efficiency Rating (HSPF) of 11, one of the highest ratings currently available. Prior to the install start date Gary, the installation manager stopped by to review the work area and explain the installation process. The installation team arrived just after the new year and got busy. I was impressed by their professionalism, their abilities and how they kept the job site clean and organized. They worked well with the electrician Chris and his assistant Donny. The startup was handled by Josh who got the unit up and running. I could not be more satisfied with their performance and the performance of the system. Billy had quoted a thermostat that does more than turn the system on and off based on temperature. It manages the variable speed fans on the air handler and condensing unit for maximum performance and energy efficiency. It's loaded with features but simple to operate. The installation was a team effort and everyone did a great job.
Mikes installed my HVAC 10 years ago and I’ve been using them for maintenance ever since. A young man named Will Frazier did the maintenance very recently. He was knowledgeable' ,clean cut professionally dressed and even carried his tools in a backpack! Efficient. He told me it would take about 45 minutes and was the first to teach me that Mikes issues coupons! I’ve requested him for future visits. Great job Will andThanks Mikes! Jill, Asheville
We had 2 heat pumps installed at our home by Mikes less than 18 months ago at a cost of approximately $18,000. Since being installed we have had to call the emergency service line either 5 or 6 times because we did not have either heat or a/c. Each time they came out they were able to fix the problem. On Christmas, during the severe cold weather, our heat failed again. We called the emergency number on their website where it said they offered 24 hour a day 365 days per year emergency service. We were told that they only offered emergency service to the people who have a service contract. When we got our units the first years service contract was included in the price. Apparently, our service contract expired and they did not notify us of this so we could renew the plan. The on-call person was able to see that we did formerly have a service contract. Long story short, it was 16 degrees Fahrenheit and the temperature was dropping and we were told that they would not send a technician to service our unit. They had no interest in the fact that we had spent that kind of money less than two years prior and had multiple issues. Mike’s has lost a customer, and hopefully this post will dissuade other people from falling victim to poor customer service by Mike’s Heating and Cooling.
UPDATE: Called Haynes Heating and Cooling and they sent someone out right away…that’s how you get and keep a customer…Mike’s could take a lesson from Haynes!
UPDATE TO RESPONSE: while your response is not entirely true, I understand the need to mitigate damage from your poor customer care. I’m also very glad that you let me know Haynes has “literally hundreds of employees” that certainly makes it a better option when one considers follow up customer care. They too offer a service agreement and were kind enough offer and institute one at the time when they came out and fixed the obviously substandard unit that you installed (again 5 or 6 service calls in 18 months on a $18,000 heat pump installation). Their service agreement came with a nice discount on the work that they did.
I look forward to sharing my experience with friends, neighbors, and anyone else who is willing to listen. As you know, word of mouth is one of the best forms of advertisement. Haynes now has my advertising energy and Mike’s does too, just in the whole different way.
Annual maintenance follow up visit was professional, on time and complete. Continue to have no complaints and good service.
2023 summer AC check just completed. Will F. did a thorough job, explained readings, cleaned outside unit, followed protocol and generally impressed me. We continue to like and recommend Mike's Heating and Cooling.
Here is my experience with Mike's heating and cooling. You be the judge. My vacation rental management company called Mike's because a guest reported no heat in our cabin. The tech came and reported a low Freon charge in our heat pump, and charged it, but was unable to diagnose the problem at that time. Mike's returned a few days later and reported that the unit was inoperable, and would require replacement of the evaporator coil and heat strips. After a couple more days, they quoted $4,000 for the required repairs. I thought this was a bit too much, so I called another local company to assess the situation. The second company arrived promptly and stated that the unit was operating properly but that the heat strips did need replacement. He completed that task, went through a full series of testing on the unit, found no further problems, and charged $450. That was over three weeks ago and the unit is still operating perfectly. Mike's invoiced me for 4 lb of A 410 Refrigerant at $85 a pound ($340) and $218 labor. I looked on the internet and I discovered that I could buy the same refrigerant for $16 a pound. Just guessing, but I am thinking Mike's would have purchased at wholesale and paid less. Had I accepted Mike's quote and had them do the work they recommended, I would have spent a total of $4,558 plus tax. I realize that part of that was indeed necessary, that I needed the refrigerant topped up, but I am stunned at the price they charged for the freon. That's my story just thought you ought to be aware of my experience with Mike's heating and cooling.
