Townsend Energy

This is a long review, but read through the entire thing, please!
The sign of a quality company can be found in how they treat their customers. We would give Townsend more stars if we could. What started out as a very negative experience was turned around due to a team of very dedicated employees and a very responsive owner.
We lost heat on a Sunday night and called Townsend first thing Monday morning as we have been autodelivery propane customers for years. The installers of our only 6 y.o. furnace were out of the question (long story, bad experience).
Through a series of miscommunications, a tech did not arrive til 7:45 pm, diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger, and suggested it would probably be a better idea to replace the furnace than sink thousands into replacing the heat exhanger in a 6 y.o. furnace. He noted on his paperwork to have sales call us ASAP. Crickets. No call from sales on Tuesday, so I called another company for a quote. On Wednesday, I hopped on the Ask Jim feature of Townsend's website to vent my frustrations. To my surprise, I received a phone call and email from Jim Townsend within an hour. He apologized profusely and promised to make things right. I originally rebuffed the idea of letting them still give us a price, but finally acquiesed. Jim was truly concerned and apologetic, how could I not? And I am glad I did! Jason came out, gave us a price much lower than what we had received - and on a better unit. He added in service perks and a finance package we could not say "No" to.
Do not hesitate to use Townsend. You will find them to be fair, competitive and very customer oriented. And if you encounter a RARE problem (as their high review rate indicates), give them a chance to make it right. You won't be disappointed.

I have been a customer with Townsend Energy for years. Whenever I need anything in the energy field I give them a call. I just had central air conditioning put in my second home. From the salesman to the installers; the price was reasonable both time and the installation was top notch. Office help was very curtious and helpful. My thanks to all at Townsend Energy for making my life easier at almost 80 years old. Jean Hussey

Have no issues with service. But do have issues with cost. I believe your cost of fuel is much higher than competitors. The service contract increase this year has almost doubled. All in all I realize the cost of operating has gone up, but not to the increases you have past on.

I heat with oil and also have a propane tank for my gas range and fireplace. I had asked for no deliveries for spring/summer, as my oil tank was filled in early spring. I also discussed being on call come November. I was surprised to hear oil being delivered on November 2nd at 8:00 am, when I still had over a half tank of oil and had not called for a delivery. I went out to check and the smell of spilled fuel was overwhelming. I had to hose off my shoes. The bill was for $632 for oil I did not need and now have a propane tank that is almost empty because I can’t afford to fill it. I am not using the gas fireplace to try and stretch the propane as far as possible.
