After years ...no longer happy with this company.... with their pricing, response to telephone calls, no call backs, lack of explanations and general poor responses. The delivery men and those servicing the tanks and burners are fine but the customer service is extremely poor. Once they were fine but now, the company is stressed and customers are suffering. My advice from past experience, choose another company.

Mac from customer service answered all my questions this morning. I’ve always been able to call Townsend and get someone competent to answer questions that I have. Townsend also was able to provide urgent service to us on Christmas Eve to investigate a failed water boiler, in only a few hours.

I have been with Townsend and its predecessors for many years. My oil burning furnace was installed in 2006 and has been maintained by Townsend and Federal since then. Service has always been prompt and professional although not all of the technicians work as hard during the scaling process (but most do). Interactions with the present office staff have been friendly and helpful. I give a shout out to Andrew who has always been responsive.

I have only had one extra service call since 2006 (with Federal) and I stayed on the Federal Gold plan until this year when it was discontinued. I am still checking to see if the new Townsend plan gives me the same coverage.

My major issue, which may even force me to change my supplier, is price. I received my first delivery of the season and the price per gallon was TWICE what I had been paying last year. I know that the oil market has been crazy this season but that is just too much an increase to justify. Townsend has now offered a modest decrease in price for a locked-in plan but it is still very high.

I have been a Townsend customer since I moved to New Hampshire. Up to this point I had been happy with them and would have rated them 5 stars. Recently, however, I had to have service because of no heat. This was a couple of weeks after they had done the annual free tune up that came with my contract. They did get to my home the day I called and got my furnace running. The tech didn’t have the parts to finish the job and said someone would call to schedule him to come back. Two days later, after not receiving a call, I contacted Townsend. Trying to get through was not easy. They finally returned my call and the tech finished the job. Then came the issue of having my bank account debited without receiving an invoice (I’m on paperless billing). More attempts at trying to get in touch with the company. Finally got the invoices and was supposed to receive a credit. Several days later I contacted them again after not getting the credit. It is finally taken care of. The company should cease buying up other oil companies until they can effectively take care of their existing customers.

Ellen James was a pleasure to work with on getting a delivery and getting the computer fixed on the tank. She was excellent at her follow through and I have to say I felt like I finally had a person who was listening to me and actually took a role of making sure we didn't run out of fuel and I wanted to send a letter to her file and her boss because she's that great.

My last experience with your company was not so good. I called on a Monday, Tuesday and a Wednesday and you guys allowed my tank to go dry. Talk about upset, I was so upset I was going to switch companies and I explained to Ellen my last experience and that my husband is disabled and can't answer the door when I'm at work.

She told me she would get a tech right out to fix the computer, I explained I would not be here because of work. She then left a message the tech and fuel would come today. The tech has already been and fixed the issue and she said fuel would be there the driver had two more deliveries and then I'm next.

I left for my second job confident I didn't have to worry about running dry or worry about my husband freezing.

I want to thank Mark Richards of Townsend Energy....he is the very best. I have had a reliability / intermittent issue with my heating system. I have hadsny other companies try to fix it and they all failed

There was a slight mishap and mix up with time and dates. But they made up for it with quick action and decent price. Also the tech was really awesome and let me know what was going on thoroughly. Mix ups happen. All and all great work
