I am a native Washingtonian, and my family previously had used and liked Thomas E Clark for over 20 years. In particular, the technician named Jason is stellar.

Their admin staff and scheduling has recently gone through the tubes, and I they are not worth the hassle. I recently placed multiple calls, emails, etc both during office hours and during off hours requesting an appointment with Jason. In spite of spending a lot of time repeating the story and my request, they failed to ever contact me. The people who pick up the phone initially fail to identify themselves, but are actually dispatchers who are utterly clueless and inept.

A couple of weeks ago, and only after voicing my complaints, the dispatchers finally put me directly through the HVAC dept, and they scheduled an appointment with me between 8-9 AM this morning this AM. He failed to show up, and after multiple wait times with the dispatcher and my members of the HVAC staff, I ultimately spoke with an exceptionally unprofessional rude person by the name of Mike Hartmann. He is rude, horrible, and terrible. As a result, I will never even bother with Thomas E Clark in the future.

This job involved restoring the insulation system on the steam side plumbing of a steam-heat system. The works was satisfactory but not exceptional. At ‘T’s and discontinuities in the piping, the tape and mastic work could have been neater (more professional).

Hired them to fix my AC. Courteous repairman replaced my blower motor. It cost $600+, which seemed like a lot but what do I know. Then he "checked my system", for free, of course. Said I was "low on freon". The system has been cooling fine since I bought the house. I declined the $199 fee to add freon. A week later, low and behold, my system is not longer cooling. Somehow, the lack of one pound of freon caused it not to cool at all. Also, there were some "burned wires". This repair, even without the $69 service charge, cost me $398. Somehow adding freon went from $199 to $358 in a week. I called one of the supervisors and complained that their guarantee claims if they fix it and you aren't satisfied they'll come back for free. He said, surprise surprise, that didn't apply when adding freon. When I told him it seemed suspicious that the very problem I was warned about suddenly caused my system to stop working after 7 days, he got upset and said his company had been in business for over 100 years and how dare I accuse them and blah, blah, blah. He categorically denied that it was even possible for his technicians to be dishonest and after all they warned me about the freon. Convenient, don't you think? I'll hire someone else next time.

Thomas E. Clark replaced my failing York gas furnace with a Carrier today. The company makes full use of text notifications, and, their technical staff are very good. The price was quite reasonable.

I totally recommend this company.

This is one of the most professional contractors I have had the pleasure of hiring. The technician competed the project with patience and was extremely courteous. Very pleased with this company and highly recommend them.

Very professional and knowledgeable technician who came out the following day to provide emergency service to our boiler. So grateful they were available, because other companies didn't have appointments for another 3-4 days. A little costly though.

I am definitely pleased with the work Matt performed. As in a past visit, he is conscientious and thorough in what he does.

I know I can rest easy when he says everything checks out and there are no issues.

My sink clogged during COVID-19! Thomas Clark came quickly, with face mask and booties, the next morning. Other companies tried to take advantage by overcharging or misdiagnosing over the phone. They were reasonably priced and fixed the problem. Thank you.
