From the inspection, to the quotes, to the install. Everyone was beyond helpful and professional. Quality work and great staff. Will be recommending them as the new local go to HVAC team.
I have been a customer of Vinson Air Conditioning since 1996. I noticed they changed locations sometime in 2021(?). I wasn't due to have my a/c serviced and it was running well. However, at the beginning of August 2022, my unit stopped cooling. I contacted Vinson who scheduled an appointment. Once the technician arrived, I immediately got a bad feeling. This wasn't the company I had known previously. The technician was hard "sell". Sure, he could repair my a/c however, the bottom line was more important than the repair. My a/c had a coolant leak somewhere and it needed to be found. To replace the coolant that had leaked out (4lbs) and dye (to find the leak) cost $600.00, quite a bit over what I had expected to pay. Nonetheless, it was paid, and another visit was scheduled. I called the main office and asked to speak with the person who I have known as the owner (Mike). I was told he had stepped away from daily operations and the person on the phone (Spencer) could help me. But I wanted the owner, so I left a message for him. Never received a return call from him. This was not the company that I knew and trusted. I soon began to realize the company had either been sold or is "under new management". When my a/c failed again, I called Vinson, and they came out to check the leak. It was determined that the evaporator coil was leaking and needed to be replaced. The technician would find out if the part was available and get back with me. After not receiving a called I contacted the office, they were unaware of the problem and would get back to me. The subsequent called left my head spinning. Fist, the part wasn't available locally, may take 2 weeks to get and cost around $4,00.00. Secondly moments after that call, I received a call from the "field supervisor", this person was all about "selling", he stated they could put in a brand-new unit for $7,550.00. Which could be installed tomorrow. Sounded good? I didn't commit to anything over the phone. When I received their written bid, I immediately noticed that they wanted to install a 3-ton 14-seer (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) unit. I currently have a 3-ton 18 seer unit. A 14-seer unit is barely building code standard right now. The standard changes to a 15-seer January 2023. When I contacted the office about their bid, I was first told that I only had a 14-seer unit, because my unit was over 10 years old and supposedly, 18-seer units were not available then. They were wrong. Then, the "sell" changed to 14-seer was all I needed, everybody uses the seer rating, that's all they normally recommend, and "blah, blah, blah". The call ended with them agreeing to research a more energy efficient unit and sending another quote. I began my who research and found out the evaporator coil is available and would only cost $3,000.00 completely installed in 2 days. And in the meantime, a technician would come out and replace the coolant that had leaked out so that our unit would continue to cool us until the needed part was replaced. I never mentioned my conversation or correspondence with Vinson A/C. My bottom line is the whole scenario was designed to take advantage of the customer and play on their ignorance and desperation. Let's face. Florida is "hot" in August. Normally, the customer base in this area is elderly, widowed, and uninformed. A working air conditioner in this area could literally mean the difference between life and death. Who has the time to be an expert in home product repairs or even wants to be? The businesses providing these services need to honest, but unfortunately, they are not. Beware of dishonest unscrupulous businesses and this company tops the list.
I contacted this company on a holiday weekend in hopes they could recharge my system. Service tech did not have parts available to recharge system, so no charge for service call. Originally gave this company a 3 star review. Owner called me the following day, a Saturday, and apologized for the mix up. Offered to come back after the holiday to do the repair for free. I had all ready had someone coming in on a Sunday to do the repair. But the fact that he called, was a big deal to me. Customer service seems to have gone south, but not with this company. So I changed my rating to a 4 star and am thinking I need to have this company start servicing my ac.
Spencer is a great guy I called him one night to send someone out to fix my AC unit he had someone there the next morning and my AC was fixed and haven’t had a problem since. Highly recommend
Highly recommended!! The tech was very informative on his arrival time. Very professional, thorough and explained everything very well. The problem was fixed quickly and spot on. Also helped with finding and explaining other items that need addressed. I have field experience as well and greatly appreciated their honesty about everything. Definitely be the first company I call for any other HVAC needs. Thanks you Vinson Heating & Cooling!
A/C not running and it was hot both outside and inside the house. Family member recommended I call Vinson. Tech came out same day, determined the problem, and fixed it. Tech was knowledgeable, friendly, and cleaned up after himself. The fix cost less than estimate I got from another company.
We were in a major pickle!! Stationed overseas and the AC in our proprety in Tampa was dying down and on the verge of leaving our tenants without. 🥶 This was no longer a repair opportunity and needed to be fully replaced. We were about to undertake a big project from a distance and were anxious at the idea of not being there to supervise it all. After calling several companies - some quotes were so outrageous, we've crossed them out immediately. Even though the others were comparable in price, my call with Spencer at Vinson stood out. He answered my questions directly, patiently, with knowledge, and kindly set the expectations of what was feasible and what was not. Not once did he try to "sell" me anything other than what I was asking for, nor rushed me to sign up with them. Not only did I want the whole HVAC system replaced, but I've also wanted the indoor unit installed into the garage instead of its original spot. Spencer communicated with me via email, sent me pictures of the progress and final product, and made himself available for calls to update me along the way and answer any additional questions. I felt in good hands and my tenants confirmed that everything we've asked for was up to par and done with the utmost professionalism. I couldn't thank them enough and 100% recommend them to anyone looking for an honest and knowledgeable company! As for us, they have found a lifelong customer!
My A/C went out on Saturday night. I have a senior cat with heart problems and he cannot take the heat. Vinson sent a tech out at 7:30 on Sunday morning. Brent did such a fine job quickly repairing my clogged drain that I signed up for semi-annual maintenance service. He was professional and courteous, and I highly recommend Vinson Heating & Cooling to anyone in the area. - Dave, Palm Harbor
We needed returns installed in two of the bedrooms in our home. Spencer was professional, courteous, on time and respectful of our home. The job was completed in a timely manner. I will always use Vinson Air to service any maintenance or problems with our A/C unit. Thanks for a great job!
