Update 2: AC finally passed inspection, just 7 MONTHS after it was installed. To achieve that Black Lion provided fraudulent paperwork to show they had completed work they in fact never completed. This company is willing to flat out lie to get the job done, they are horrible. Take your business elsewhere.

Update: We're now in December, just had the city inspector out, yet again, and Black Lion still hasn't fixed the issues. To be clear, this isn't a nitpicky inspector, Black Lion seems to just be unwilling to fix their mistakes. My AC was installed in April, I'm still dealing with this nonsense.

Great option if you want the process to take in excess of 6 months. Yes, 6 months. I had AC installed back in April, it is now the end of October and the job still is not complete.

The good side is that the installers were fairly quick and we did have AC for the summer.

The bad side is the job has still not passed inspection, despite Black Lion and the city inspector EACH being out to our house 3+ times. I've called countless times over the last 6 months and am STILL getting the run around on completing the steps to allow for a (hopefully) final inspection.

On the last call I was told they are "at the whims of the city" to get the site plan approved. The plan for the install was never changed since their very first time at our home back in April. Every inspection has indicated the site plan was wrong and still needed fixed. I've told Black Lion multiple times, specifically, that they need to fix the site plan (which they should not need me to tell them), they've told me ~6 or more weeks ago that they filed it with the city. Then, weeks later when I call they miraculously happened to get a call from the city that day so they know it is being worked but still isn't done.

I am beyond frustrated with calling them and getting no progress. An AC installation should not take 6 months or more to complete. They have offered me nothing for the inconvenience.

Sorry for the long review but go somewhere else if you want a service to actually be completed and able to pass a city inspection.

Black Lion salesperson Kevin Morris was very prompt and arrived for the appointment on time. He gave us a couple of options and provided a fair quote. He showed eagerness to win our business and price matched his quote and services. The installation crew were also careful and did a thorough job. The city inspector said that the installation was done perfectly. We are very happy with the execution and service offered by Black Lion as it showed care and concern for the customer at every step of the way.

Very poor communication and disorganized scheduling. An hour before a service appointment they cancelled without any further follow up.

I called and scheduled service maintenance on a residential boiler they had installed 8 years ago and had serviced a few years after that. They scheduled for a Friday afternoon and called to confirm with us the day before. Then a hour before the appointment, they called to cancel and say they didn't have a technician available that afternoon and would call and reschedule. By Wed the following week with still no word, so I called them.

They abruptly advise that they no longer work on boilers and cannot help me. No excuse or apology on why they scheduled, confirmed, and then abruptly cancelled; or why they never followed up to advise they would not be rescheduling. They didn't even have a referral to who might now service the boiler they installed only 8 yrs ago. Thank goodness I didn't sign up for the maintenance contract they tried to sell me 4 years ago.

Please don't ask them to come and service or install, they are not responsive at all. Not sure what happening in their office but I have issues with my furnace after they serviced it for about 4 months and they haven't been able to fix it yet.

Our furnace was 3 years old and new and was working perfectly, just asked them to do a maintenance service on it after 3 years, as soon as they finished their worked it started showing some issues. Furnace sometimes didn't start. Asked them to come and check again, they sent someone, told me it has been fixed then again problem started showing up until it completely stopped working.

They sent another one after almost 1 month and he said one part needs to be replaced, since our furnace was new and still had warranty he ordered the part and said next day he will come and install it.

It's almost 2 months later and no one showed up, messaged, called and they told me that their technician said our furnace is fixed!!

Just avoid them if you value your time and sanity. I am now looking to find another service provider.

These folks under-bid everyone else by a significant amount. Many of the local AC installers have wait lists that are months long. They were able to get to us much more quickly than everyone else. Although we were not in a hurry on the install, the work was performed quickly after we signed the bid, even though I'd had to wait a few months to get other bids in before making our decision. They answered my questions quickly and completely.

If you want to get your AC installed or any HVAC work, work with Charlie Lightsey from Blacklion. Goes way above and beyond for top notch customer experience.
I had my HVAC system installed by Black lion in March 2022. Their installation was good. There were few glitches during inspection but they promptly fixed those.
However, right before the heat wave, my system started conking out. No tech of Black Lion was available for next couple weeks. That's when my sales rep, Charlie, stepped up, rolled his sleeves and fixed the problem all by himself.
This is possibly the best customer service I have got.

Black Lion did install my Bryant Furnace in 2013 which included a 10 year parts & labor warranty. I am well aware of the Supply Chain problems. My furnace died in Sept.. Black Lion did not have a replacement part. I was told the part was on backorder until the end of October. I waited until the first week of November to inquire about the part. I was told, they would check & let me know that afternoon. I never heard back that day. I did call again for status, left a message, but no call back. If the date has slid, I can understand that, but to ignore a customer's phone calls is customer service suicide if you want to stay in business. Come on guys, call me & let me know what is going-on with my furnace part! I am using 2 space heaters & a cauldron of water simmering on the stove.

UPDATE: July 2022. I was ghosted again!!

The day after this "owner" responded to my review, I received an email asking me when they could come out to look at my AC unit.

I replied with dates/times, very accessible.

They ghosted again. Never replied and never responded in any way. Absolute joke.

Don't be fooled by the person responding to complaints here.

**I notice after I updated this review the "owners reponse" disappeared. What you missed is... the "owner" asked me to contact them they would get this straighted out. 🤡

More like Black Sheep.

Installed AC in early 2020. Installation incomplete.

Specifically AC unit not bolted down (loose) and fan bearing also vibrating beyond acceptable spec (possible ball bearing).

I found out this was technicians first ever install. I'm fine with that... but only if the work gets completed. Work not completed.

Failed to resolve issue by failing to show up. Ghosting and denying. 3 summers in a row and counting.

Unprofessional individuals. No accountability top to bottom.

Im sure my issue was minor and immediately fixable. But to add insult to injury, I would have paid any price if they showed up. But they never did and continue to hide.

I gave them a heads up I'd hammer them on social media. Just getting started.

Speaking to Black Lion directly, Feel free to resolve this simple issue if you wish. Maybe call me or show up. I'll take this down.

I contacted this company off Home Advisor/Angie, during 2021 summer, they replied promptly, but as I told them that I am actually not ready to install right away and I am pretty much just looking for an estimate, they have stopped replying and ghosted me.
This year, I was more ready to install and I thought I'd give them another chance, since I just assumed that maybe they were just super busy during the heat wave and wanted to be understanding.

Again, very responsive at first, sent over a representative, someone named Greg. Super nice gentleman, knowledgeable and polite. He took over a week to send me the bid for 3 mini splits saying that he is super busy, I tried asking questions, which I did get a reply to, but then again very slowly. I asked (since I actually did not know that I could install a bigger outdoor unit and hook minnies as finances come over) and it's been now over a month and haven't heard back from them or Greg.

It's pretty unprofessional and really the excuse of being busy, it's kinda old school. It's 2022, we are all busy, but at the same time we make sure that at the end of the day, everyone gets their answers.

Safe to say that I won't be considering this company in the future. If it's this difficult to schedule an email, if you schedule installs or repairs, how long would they take? You want a busy company, but you also want quality and respect.

Greg R. came out to give me estimate for the furnace replacement and installing a new AC. He's very professional, knowledgable and responsive. Through 10+ emails and a few phone calls, he provided good information, and answered various questions to make me informed and able to make good decisions per my house structure, and thermostat model. Really appreciate his help!! I would strongly recommend Greg to others for HVAC projects!
