I liked that we were able to discuss the real possibilities of how a system that we don’t think about can impact our daily lives.
My HVAC and thermostat were shorted out after a storm last week. R&M was able to get a service team out same day to diagnose and fix the issue. Koby and Darren were great and talked me through the issue and options. Really appreciate the promptness and professionalism in dealing with the problem!
We called R&M 5 days ago to schedule a service call as one of our A/C units was freezing up and not cooling. As we know, the most common cause would be due to a low refrigerant level. They arrived at our house with both a technician and a salesperson which put me on alert as soon as they arrived. After a quick diagnostic, they confirmed the unit was low on refrigerant. Oddly, they did not bring any refrigerant to the service call, which now makes sense as that is when the sales tactics began. The salesperson was pushing the narrative that we would be better off by purchasing a new system as opposed to fixing the old one as ours was from 2013 and time had run its course in all likelihood. He went down the path that we had a leak, and that they couldn't find it so the next step would be to do dye test which offered no guarantees they could find it (see David Wilfert review from a week ago). Then the most likely scenario would be to replace the coil as that would be the likely culprit (how do you know the leak is in the coil when you cant find it? Isn't there multiple point where a system can leak?). We then reviewed various alternatives for a new unit ranging with a focus on financing it over 10 years under what they call their Advantage program. Are you kidding me? That is paying 2x for 1 unit at the interest rate they proposed. I politely declined their financing alternative and instead told them I would consider their dye test. Meanwhile in the back of my mind I was thinking that since we just purchased the home a few months back, it was not a 2013 unit per the inspection report and something felt "off". I went and reviewed the inspection report we had done after they left and confirmed it was not a 2013 unit, but in fact a 2018 unit. Was that a mistake on their part? Perhaps.....
Long story short, they left with my A/C still not operating, and I honestly have no idea if they can repair an A/C unit. The next day I called another provider and the unit is now working as intended as they brought refrigerant to the service call, and there are no signs of visible leaks
If you enjoy the gamesmanship of separating fact from fiction, then this firm may be a good provider for you. If you want someone to just fix whatever problem you are experiencing, I would offer that another provider might be the best path forward.
Darwin and Richard were amazing. I had a duct connection that had come off 2 separate vents under the house, and also needed to have my HVAC inspected and maintained for the coming summer season. Both communicated what was going on, checked in with me regularly during the process and complete the work. I was shown pictures of my system, and all the checks and balances which also makes me feel good to see that everything is indeed in good order, and not just be told. I will continue to use R&M for all my HVAC needs going forward and highly recommend them. Ask for Darwin and Richard, because they are the best.
Mike and Josh did an absolutely great job today coming to do a flush on the water heater. Couldn’t ask for a better team. They were very direct and answered any and all questions. Also got a great quote on blow in insulation that we are moving forward for and great rates for a full vent cleaning that will be a future project. Shot straight with me on what I might need and might not need, really cannot recommend enough. Will make sure to revisit after the blow in is completed to let everyone know how great the job was. 💪💪💪
Chris and Ryan came out today and were very thorough with my semiannual maintenance. I appreciate the expertise and professionalism Doug came out today and installed a new water heater. I’m very pleased with the quality of work, responsiveness and friendliness of the folks at this company.
