The Heating Specialist

The Heating Specialists were very friendly and helpful! They didn’t have my size in stock due to high demand on air filters right now so they cut one to size! Will definitely being using their services for all my heating and cooling needs.

I use The Heating Specialist for all my boiler service and repairs and I picked them when I needed a new combi boiler installed. I've never had anything but quick and exemplary service from them. I have also recommended them to friends who have had similarly great results. I wouldn't use anyone else in the Portland area. They're terrific.

We have had repairs, maintenance and new services while we completed a home addition. We wouldn't use anyone else. My parents had their house HVAC system completely updated on my recommendation and they were very satisfied. Great people and a great company!

Kevin came out and did maintenance on our heat pump and gas furnace. He showed up on time and was very professional! Got the job done in a timely manner and cleaned up after himself. All of our neighbors use The Heating Specialist, and for good reason!

These guys came and fixed my radiant floor heat when a pump broke. Otto was on time, super professional, clean and did a great job for a good price. Everyone I dealt with was super friendly and nice. Will definitely call this company again.

The heating specialist is a great reliable company! Very recommended! We needed a urgent service done on our furnace and they were able to accommodate us right away and replace the filter and do the maintenance it needed to assure us everything is working properly!

I encountered a problem with my furnace/heat pump system. When I attempted to call the original dealer/installer, I was told that the company was out of business. The woman representing the new company was rude and indifferent. So, i did an online search and selected the Heating Specialists because of their proximity, and the fact that they've been in business since 1981.
I've had negative experiences with contractors, and was expecting the worst...high costs, poor service, a long wait. But, from the first, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. She scheduled an appointment and the next morning a technician named Otto arrived. He was truly a professional in appearance and attitude. I was impressed with his knowledge, his ability to locate the problem quickly, and his willingness to answer all my questions. He went out of his way to ensure that the job was done thoroughly without compounding costs.
If the need arises, I won't hesitate to contact this company again.

Edit: I did not have a rodent in my system. This company is more willfully incompetent than I can believe. After several follow up visits where they said they didn't know what was going on, I finally hired a second company to come out and diagnose the problem. They figured out it was plywood from replacing my roof. They cleaned out the furnace thoroughly, finally removing the debris the Heating Specialist did not take out after 4 visits.

I then had to call the Heating Specialist and they finally admitted there is a 90 day warranty on replacing the motor. They refused to pay me back for the extra expense of having the second company out, and told me they would instead do a complimentary service. I don't want them anywhere near my house or furnace again, so I am out that money, but I am relieved it's finally fixed.

Initial Post:

I had them out to fix a crackling sound coming from the furnace. The first time they cleaned a part, sound came back right after. The next time they came out they said the part had to be completely replaced. I was a little frustrated that they hadn't just done that in the first place, but figured they're the experts. Well, $900 later sound is still there. They came out to take a look and said nothing is wrong, nothing they can do about it. Then they had the nerve to ask me to give them a 5 star review in exchange for a raffle entry. I give 5 star reviews when people do the work they say they're going to do. Now I have to hire another company.

I had one day to remove a mini split ductless air conditioner before construction began. After contacting 7 different local hvac companies and experiencing a shocking amount of terrible Customer service, I contacted The Heating Specialist. Right away they were helpful and professional. Thomas went absolutely out of his way. He not only found a technician that could solve my problem in time, he called me back and had pulled one out of his hat that could see me RIGHT THEN!! The tech was there almost before I'd said "Thank you."! AND,... as if I wasn't already impressed, the tech noticed something on the main hvac system and correct it! I mean.... Outstanding!!! There will not be another heating or cooling company that I will ever call. Excellent across the board!

Outstanding. Yes I got the "you should replace the whole thing" but I knew that already and told them that. They fixed my way too old furnace quickly and Kevin the engineer who came was extremely candid, frank and "let's get this working". They figured out that the thing had been badly installed by the previous owner (hence why it gave up), fixed it and got me the best price on the parts. They knew what they were doing and were within 3 minutes of when they said they would come. It was also MLK day so super grateful. I cannot say enough good things especially given that I had given up trying to schedule the engineers for the past week whose sticker was on the side of the unit. Thankfully I was not able to and got these guys with one call.
