Up front: If you're working with EWEB or otherwise concerned with meeting eligibility requirements for rebates/incentives, I highly recommend starting your search elsewhere.

We signed a bid with Alpine to replace a dead gas furnace with a ducted heat pump with financing under EWEB's loan program. First impressions were very positive -- comfort adviser Charles seemed very knowledgeable and helpful.

After we signed the bid, Charles communicated that he'd spoken with someone else at Alpine and that EWEB's loan program had requirements that would require significant additional work not included in the original bid despite the bid stating very clearly that we were using EWEB. Alpine shot over a very simplistic change order for an additional $3500 with very little explanation -- not itemized, no detailed justification for the additional work.

We reviewed EWEB's requirements and found them very straightforward and reasonable -- they clearly don't call for the extensive retrofitting Alpine claimed (in our case at least, as our system had been modernized at some point in the recent past). When we raised this point, Alpine continued to insist that this costly work was necessary to meet the EWEB program requirements. They did offer favorable alternative financing terms, however for us this was beside the point -- we had been clear from the beginning that we wanted a fully modern, efficient HVAC system for our home and that meeting the EWEB guidelines was important to us, and the original bid reflected this.

Charles as an individual was very professional and personable through this process, but our experience with Alpine as whole felt so much like a bait and switch that we didn't feel we could move forward with them on the project -- the trust was broken. This sent us back to the bidding process and cost us an extra two weeks without heat in our home during the coldest part of the year, which was incredibly frustrating.

Ultimately, and as we'd suspected, we were able to work with another contractor to get a new system meeting EWEB's requirements WITHOUT the extensive retrofitting work Alpine claimed would be necessary.

Alpine was great to work with. My home advisor Andy was top notch. He did a fantastic job customizing our new HVAC system to the needs of our house. We got several options and he didn’t try to push a high-end system that we didn’t need. Installation was done in one day. The crew was fast and professional. I would recommend for your heating needs!

I called alpine this morning as waking up at 4am to burning wire smell was scary. I was told they could get me in today. Got the appointment set. TIM Anderson was my tech and I was at work he came out looked at my unit. Called me and told me what was wrong the price and was very polite and professional. Got my approval Got the work done in a timely manner called me with the exact price he quoted me and took my payment. Very awesome work. I can honestly say alpine and Tim were awesome making sure my households heating source was repaired today. Thank you

They gave me a two hour window. I rushed home from class to sit around and wait, I left 15 minutes after the window to pick up my kids. The tech finally arrived after I left. He worked outside while I when and came back then finished up on the inside. Despite my extreme annoyance with this tardiness, I had a had tech that took my initial sh*t attitude in stride. Drew was a MVP for that, (if you’re seeing this I apologize, you were very professional and courteous) he could have matched my energy and I wouldn’t have blamed him. The front office needs to do more in regards to informing clients of their tech’s status. A simple text or call from someone would have totally changed my Attitude about waiting for him. He ended up taking a mild tongue lashing for something that wasn’t his fault or even his responsibility. Owner please implement a system that notifies us that our tech is running late. I could have reorganized my time around the hiccup instead of kicking rocks staring down an empty driveway for 2 hours. It’s a mild inconvenience but communication is key. Would you expect your tech to wait for me for two hours without me calling or texting? Again, drew was amazing, the fault doesn’t lie with him or the service he provided.

Alpine did a great job installing a mini split system for me. They were very professional and the install was done very clean.

They did a great job on installation very professional. Had to rip out my old oil furnace which looked like it was not very fun. Overall I would give him a 9 out of 10. The only thing that was wrong was They broke the latch door to the filter and said they were gonna bring me another one and that never happened. But it still opens and closes so I'm OK with it.

The installers and electrician were all very professional and performed great work. The permitting was handled for us which was very nice.

The solution Andy provided is suiting us very well during the hot days and we’re all cool in the house!
