We called Farnen & Dermer Inc. on Monday 7/11/2022 and we were scheduled for the next day on 7/12/2022 at 11:00am.
Our Trane HVAC system was working but later had blown a fuse.
Our HVAC system no longer was under warranty.
Charlie was our Service Technician.
He was On- Time, Courteous, and Professional.
We were very pleased with his Service.
His experience of (29yrs.) and the knowledge working in the HVAC Field was much appreciated.
He took the time to evaluate our HVAC system and answered our questions.
We knew that repair would be needed going into this job but was looking for experience, some integrity and a fair price, Not A Sales Pitch... If Not Needed on a New System...
Compared with other Local companies, we decided to go with with Fern & Dermer.
Based on the following assessment:
Knowledge & Experience in the HVAC Field
Quality of Service...
Representation of their Customer Service Personnel
and Especially the Work Ethics of the Service Field Technician they sent.
We then decided to replace the components that were faulty and proceed with the Repairs.
It was a very pleasant encounter, ....
despite our Un-Timely Mechanical HVAC Failure.

Very old gas furnace died on a night when the temperature dropped to about 12 degrees, and we woke up to a very cold house. Called three other companies and was told it would be about two weeks before they could install a new system. Ended up typing my information into the American Standard website, and got a text from F&D within 15 minutes saying they could install same day. Within a half hour, I sent them information about, and pictures of, our old system, and they sent me an estimate by email for a new installation, which I accepted electronically. Less than an hour later, James arrived and started taking out the old unit. A second tech arrived with the new unit, and they finished the installation in 4-5 hours. When I had a question about the BTU rating of the unit being installed, James had me contact Zach at their office, who answered my questions. When the old furnace died, it apparently took the thermostat with it, so they replaced that, as well. When the installation was done, James showed me the work, pointed out the new water and gas lines, and we were up and running. In short, the whole process was as painless as losing your heat mid-winter can be -- F&D responded extremely quickly, had the workers and equipment available same day, and the work was efficient and professional. When it's time to replace my AC (which they told me is likely soon), I'll definitely use them again.

Less than 5 years after installation I find out a faulty blower was used on my heating unit ( yes they were aware) I am now on motor 3 for my air unit and have been told to replace the entire system! I have communicated all this to F&D and no response. You may be happy initially but just wait! Poor Poor Poor way to scam a consumer-
Unless you want to be in my position less than 5 years after having an entire system replaced use a different company! I wish I was allowed to put negative stars!! Such disappointment from a Mom and Pop company

We had our HVAC and water heater units all replaced in the summer of 2021. It was a big job, but Farnen & Dermer completed it quickly, efficiently, and for a fair price. The workers were very knowledgable, and did a great job installing everything, including moving where the thermostat was located and rearranging some duct work. They are very responsive for scheduling routine maintenance appointments. We have used them for years, as they installed a new HVAC and water heater at a former residence as well.

We originally contacted The Comfort Guys for routine maintenance of our boiler before the winter. It was working, but making a water gurgling sound. The company was very responsive and sent a tech who came and bled the system. This service cost us around $400, which was a shock, but the job got done.

Almost immediately after, the control panel started flashing yellow lights and clicking every time the boiler turned off. Our tech came back again, and he didn’t really know why it was clicking, but blamed it on the Nest. Apparently, he and my husband found this answer on google. My husband then purchased an adapter for the Nest that would allow it to recharge directly from the home instead of connecting through the boiler control box. He didn’t have a chance to install it until Sunday night, but this did not take care of the issue. We called The Comfort Guys back and they came the next morning. When he came back, we were told the diaphragm that pushed the water needed to be replaced. Our tech came back to fix it. This service cost us $2500. After he left, the boiler started leaking. He came back and we were told a valve was broken. The service for this was an additional $750. They offered us interest- free financing. All the while, the system is still clicking and flashing yellow lights.

It seems that every time they touch it, something else breaks. Now, last night, the entire boiler system stops working. The house lost heat and was at 58 degrees this morning. They want to charge us another $1600 because they think it’s the control panel. My husband found the part online for $125, so this is just getting absolutely ridiculous. We did not want them to again make things worse.

In summary, if you want to have things done and have it work properly, save yourself some money and DO NOT call The Comfort Guys.

Updated Review May 11, 2022: I continue to rely on this amazing company for my HVAC needs. They responded to a problem quickly and although my unit was at its end of life, they had options and performed a complete replacement within 48 hours! They are knowledgeable, responsive, completely thorough, respectful, and the only HVAC company that I will ever use! Thank you SO much!!
