Bassett Services: Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, & Electrical

If your considering using Bassett Services in Plainfield, please read a brief summary of my experience below and why I ended up going with Price Point Comfort before making your decision.

Not long ago we had a hot day and it seemed that my Geothermal system was not cooling correctly, and so I called Basset on Friday (May 5th, 2023) and they had a technician come out to look at the system. After about an hour he let me know that he was not able to do a pressure test of the loop as he could not get the fitting off and get his equipment on, as worst of all that the compressor on the system had failed and being that it was an older unit that the cost to repair would be around $7k and we would be better off replacing it. They then asked me if I would like to have someone come out to give me a quote, I said yes, and the quoting guy came within the hour. After going over the options he informed me that they had a system in stock and that they could replace it on Monday, and it would cost $27k. He stated that they provided financing but the best interest rate they could offer was %9.99 APR.

I smartly decided to wait and come the next week I decided to call and get some more quotes. I called several places and provided them with the details and ask them if the $27k seemed accurate, they stated it seemed high and felt it should be closer to the $20k number. I then asked them to come out and give me a formal quote on the system and both other vendors were able to quote a comparable system right around $17k which was $10k less than Basset with one of those being Price Point Comfort.

At the end of going over the quote and just before leaving James from Price Point Comfort asked if he could take a quick look at the system to see if he could see anything. I said sure, and about an hour later he was able to determine that the compressor had not failed but it was a failed safety sensor and that the cost to repair the sensor and do some cleaning would be around $600, and some additional duct work to help air flow to the other end of the house would be about an additional $700. So, I agreed and they came out on Monday morning (5/15/2023) as scheduled and they replaced the sensor, checked my loop pressure & recharged it, cleaned the system and replaced some of the old ducting all for under $1500. Needless to say, I will be using Price Point Comfort going forward.

Called with toilets and tubs backing up on a Saturday night. I had already called 7 other '24 hour plumbers' with no one able to get here until the next day. Bassett saved the night by having Lucas come out at 10 pm and quoting us a couple of prices, gave us some options and suggestions, as well as a few things to look out for since the issue was not ours, it's the property owners not installing the plumbing correctly to the main sewage drain. Lucas gave me pictures and a video to show exactly what was wrong and how it needed to be fixed correctly. We are all so grateful for him coming out so quickly and so late at night to help. Basset may not be the cheapest, but their professionalism and quality of work has earned them a lifelong customer and I'll gladly pay the extra money for the quality of work I received! Christian was my electrician and was fantastic. Arrived on time and was great during the whole site visit. Swapped out all outlets and installed some GFCI outlets. Will definitely use them for future work.

Patrick is very polite and always gives us great advice and feedback. He always answers our questions truthfully. I know when he comes to do our maintenance it will always be done properly. I always request Patrick because he is the best.

Work extremely well... when they actually show up. My first two services with Bassett were handled without a hitch and they were very professional, but the moment i needed a bigger job done i had to reschedule 4 times. Only showed up once and then left after not contacting me or knocking on doors. They do very good work but sometimes scheduling is a nightmare.

This was the most informative a technician has ever been with me! He had photos of how each system was reading on his meter! He actually showed me via photo confirmation that everything is running as it should. I appreciated the visual greatly! Technician also took time to listen and offer a couple of options to manage humidity levels in our home. Very reassuring to know we have options beyond what we are currently doing. Our HVAC system was 24 years old and at the end of its life. We found ourselves with no heat and no air one night after we came home from work. After waiting around all morning for PB to show up the next day and a rude interaction with one of their staff on the phone, I decided to call Bassett. The woman I spoke with was super understanding, polite, and got me set up in no time. A technician was sent out within 2 hours.

Tony was absolutely awesome. Thoroughly explained what was wrong and laid out all our options. Very genuine, sincere, and personable. Ultimately ended up deciding to replace our entire HVAC system and install a water softener while we were at it! Gave me a great deal with a great warranty and an upgraded digital thermostat.

I highly value the customer service experience over any other aspect when choosing a service provider, and I can honestly say that the employee interactions I had with Bassett are the reason I chose to go ahead and use this company for the install.
