Gator Air and Energy gave me exactly the ac / furnace units I needed. They did not sell me the most expensive units, but rather the exact ones that I needed to efficiently cool our home. The service was courteous, timely and efficient. The best part for our family is that the new units have decreased our electric bill by 40-50%!!! The units will pay for themselves in about 18-24 months! My only regret is that I did not call them sooner!!!

We’ve been using this wonderful company for years and they are prompt, professional, friendly and thoroughly committed to quality workmanship. Lee, Jesus and Terrion (sp?) were quick to rescue us last winter after a tornado and fallen tree uprooted our HVAC. They returned recently to clean our ductwork and install a whole home air purifier. They carefully cleaned up afterwards and we noticed immediate improvement in air quality. They went to great lengths, as always, to accommodate our special needs! Thanks to these three and Josh for consistently providing excellent customer service! I have referred them to friends who had the same wonderful experiences.

The guys showed up right on time, installed the system in about three hours and answered all my questions. The installation work was great, everything was covered so no pipes or wires are exposed. I would recommend them with no reservations.

He was happy to answer my questions about maintenance and the condition of our HVAC system, and offered us advice on how to improve the energy efficiency of our unit. Shifty. Recently Gator Air and Energy suggested installing a Ameristar Split Air system in one of my rental properties. Almost 11 months and a week after installation one of the head units failed. Gator AC repaired the unit and billed me $300.00. Reached out to Chuck the owner for a explanation . He stated that these things just happen with splits systems. Interesting that he would recommend a solution that had shown high numbers of failures in my particular application. Further he suggested that my tenant had not properly clean the unit. My tenant states otherwise. Regarding the amount of the invoice. I received a rambling explanation that the job was a 40 minute drive, and he sent 2 techs, and he had been required to purchase a 500.00 pressure washer for working on this type unit? Further he said that the employees had left the office at 8:00 and returned at noon. Honestly - I was left slightly confused.
# 1 Why recommend a unit that he knew was not a good fit for the application.
# 2 Why send 2 techs for a one person job. My feeling is one of them was a trainee. That is fine. But don't bill me the customer, to train your new hires.
# 3 Every specialty job requires specialty tools. Don't try and re coop the entire cost on one job.
# 4 - Gator A/C also did not bother to register the warranty for our unit.
Nor were we made aware that we needed to.
After our conversation I called 2 other companies and received pricing between 95.00 and 175.00. A far cry from 300.00.
My conclusion - If you have ever spoken to someone and gotten the feeling they charge whatever they feel they can get away with. That is how I felt after talking with Chuck. He is that guy. If you are watching and quoting him out. You get a lower price. But be careful. If you are not looking. He will run the charges up because he can.
Sad. Not a person I chose to continue to do business with.

Recap and final thoughts after owners response.

Again I stick by my assessment of my transaction with Gator AC. Regarding Gator AC offer to reduce the amount of the original invoice.
That is not really the issue. As I mentioned in our conversation the 50.00 reduction was not the issue. Charging a reasonable amount to start with is the issue. We have used your company in the past for other properties.
At the start of the relationship your pricing appeared reasonable. Over time your pricing seems to have drifted higher and higher. Our policy is to establish vendors we can trust and use those vendors. You demonstrated that our trust was misplaced.
Based on my many years of experience purchasing and contracting maintenance of and for HVAC units this was the worst. Bottomline I do not feel that this company is trustworthy. And I highly recommend using any of the multiple HVAC companies in the area.
