I had Bertie Heating and Air come service my A/C unit recently. The service tech was friendly, professional and punctual. When I spoke with Donald Bertie to schedule the appointment, he was very knowledgeable and courteous. I would highly recommend them in the future as they did not try to sell me anything I didn't need.

After having problems with our 5 year old A/C off and on since it was installed we gave Bertie Heating and Air a call to come out and take a look. Our current system was still under warranty but would still cost use around $2k to repair. After speaking with the Owner Jim and having and listening to the eduacation he provided we decided to install a new unit. We are so happy with our new unit. We were never able to completely cool our hom during the summer months until this year with our new Trane. It was such a relief to come home to a cool home with lower electric bills. A representative from Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning came to my home on 4/16 to diagnose an air conditioner that was blowing warm air. The young man was polite, and cordial. He was respectful, as well. While looking at our unit, he must have told us, at least 4 times, that he was "still in school". This became apparent, when he started with one diagnosis that simply involved a new compressor and a re-charge of the system, to a multi-part replacement that would cost thousands, to a brand new unit, and air handler.

To say my husband and I were concerned about his ability to diagnose the problem, is an understatement. The service call lasted about 45 minutes. By the end, he was standing firm on us simply needing a new unit, and arranged for a "Comfort Consultant" to come out the next day, and give us an estimate on a new unit. So, we paid the $95.00 visit, which yielded nothing but uncertainty, and waited to speak to the other representative about the situation.

This young man (older than the tech, at least), spent about 15 minutes looking at the old unit, walking around the house, and then went out to his vehicle to print a quote. The estimate was for $4,300.00 for a new unit, air handler, touch screen programmable thermostat (which we didn't need), concrete pad (which we didn't need), and testing/sealing all duct work.

After I looked at the estimate, I expressed my concerns to this representative about the diagnosis given by the young, "still in school" tech. I told him that his company was asking us to put a substantial dent in our savings, and if the roles were reversed, I am sure you would want a second opinion before dropping that amount of money on something you weren't convinced you needed. He told me that the young man in question had been doing this for about 5 years, and he knew this because he has been with the company for 7. I told him that he needs to work on his sales pitch then, because he had us convinced he shouldn't even be on calls solo, yet. We felt it was in all fairness, to ask for a second tech to come out, and offer a second opinion.

The "Comfort Consultant" assured me Mr. Bertie takes all concerns seriously, and that someone from the office would contact us that afternoon. Someone did contact my husband, and left a voicemail. My husband returned his call the same day, and left a message with the office receptionist. Since then, we have heard NOTHING from Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning.

The bottom line, is all we asked for was a little reassurance that our money was being spent wisely, and they couldn't be bothered to follow up. You don't just ask someone to spend $4,300.00 with your company on blind faith. Based on this experience, we contacted another company, who installed the SAME unit Bertie had quoted us on, minus the thermostat and other things we *didn't* need replaced, to the tune of $3,000.00 We didn't mind spending the money. If you need a new unit, you do what you have to do. Just don't ask someone to do it with no assurances or confidence. Of which I have neither, in Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning.

Our AC went down in the evening in the middle of August so we were preparing ourselves for a few very uncomfortable nights. I called up Bertie Heating and Air and from start to finish they were professional, prompt and provided realistic expectations for the visit. I spoke with Jennifer as the on call tech and she was wonderful! She had Gus the on call tech come out and Gus was also fantastic. I would call them in an instant if our AC went out again (fingers crossed it wont)

We've used Bertie several times over the years and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a good HVAC company. Unlike many other companies, they don't find problems you don't need to fix, or upsell you on things you don't need. Each time we've had a tech come out they've taught me simple things I can do to increase the lifespan of our HVAC system and prevent the need to have them out again on an emergency basis.

Today I put in a service call today for an unexpected problem with our central air unit. I received a call well in advance of when the technician showed up. The technician, Brandon, quickly found a problem and replaced a part. He then went about to double check the rest of the system to make sure the issue was fully resolved.

We are very happy Bertie customers and plan to be for a long while.

Bertie Heating and Air have been an excellent company for us. The service and equipment are first class. We especially are pleased with our service man, Steve. In addition to taking care of our heater and air conditioning unit, he alerted us to a problem on our gas line that runs along the same wall as the AC pipe. Wow! Had my home air conditioner go out at 5:30 p.m. and Brandon from Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning was at my house about 30 minutes after I called. Brandon was very professional and quickly diagnosed and repaired my air conditioner. I couldn't have been happier. I highly recommend this company.

2 years ago Team Bertie installed a new unit for me. The service was OUTSTANDING. With many companies after the BIG sale there in NO FOLLOW THRU --- NOT the Case with Bertie. Brandon came in the window time allotted, I received a call in advance just to let me know that the service tech was on his way and Brandon finished with a GREAT attitude and a smile. In my opinion, there in ONLY one heating and air company in Gainesville and that is Bertie Heating and Air!!!! Thanks for being so Professional Brandon!!!!
