The lack of freon was detected quickly. What I then heard was I had to choose between refilling the system with freon for roughly $1000 and risking it leaking out again or replacing the A/C unit. I would have appreciated knowing the process, timeing and cost for detecting the source of the leak. I also would have liked to have some data based on Hydes past experience on the most common sources of leaks and rough probabilities, the rough costs for fixing them, and the cost of a new A/C. I could have made a better decision with this information.
