Shackelford is the HVAC vendor the builder used on a dream home I built in 2021. They are letdown & I'm here to tell all people building homes, you have a choice in your HVAC provider & I recommend you choose someone other than Shackelford.

I built a large 4K square foot home with a basement (50% above grade) that is absolutely frigid during the winter. It was impossible to get the temperature above 62 degrees & it was in the 50's during the coldest days. I reached out to Shackelford about this &, after being ignored frequently, they finally replied & said I, "should have installed a zone system like we offered." This sounds reasonable EXCEPT that I never spoke with them during the build. I only indicated to my builder that I wanted top of the line equipment, which Shackeford was all to happy to price. So there is an element of dishonesty since they'll make up whatever they need to get out of responsibility. I have full proof of their claim & our email history.

As mentioned, picked out all top of the line equipment from the Carrier Infinity Greenspeed & Renewaire lines. I even added a humidifier & an ERV air exchanger. I was willing to spend whatever was required to get good indoor air quality. And Shackelford never thought to tell me during the build that 1/3 of my home, which had a bedroom, living room, 6 above grade windows & a kitchenette COULD NEVER get warmer than 62 during the winter. Nobody told me. When you spend many thousands of dollars upgrading your HVAC to a top of the line system, you have a reasonable expectation you would be told keeping almost 1/2 the house above 62 in the winter would be an issue. Shackelford never gave me this courtesy.

I asked Shackelford to help me find a solution, so they said they'd contact the electrician & get back to me. They didn't get to me for almost a month. When I expressed frustration with the timeline since winter was approaching, they threatened to not help me find a solution unless I did everything their way and didn't complain when they missed contact deadlines. That's when I withdrew from dealing with them. I realized then that they absolutely refused to stand by their work (design counts as work)

Also frustrating about Shackelford is whomever managed email wouldn't communicate with the person you spoke to on the phone. So then I'd get denials via email about prior conversations. They have no way to track communications or responses but are happy to revert to blaming you if there is any confusion, even though I wasn't the one confused. But It's really frustrating to deal with them when they make things up out of the air (like the zone system). Save all communications with them.

I solved Shackelford's problem with a high-powered, in-wall, electric heater from a local firm. It was over $3500 & while it does warm the basement, the quality of the heat is not great.

Lots of construction demand has made Shackelford very arrogant & convinced that they never do anything wrong, so they never try to fix problems & ignore problems they created. Until there are financial consequences where builders stop using them, they will continue to design bad systems & run away from the customers they inflicted them upon. In some areas, Shackelford's design wouldn't even be up to code.

If you are considering building a house, ask your builder to use a different HVAC vendor than Shackelford. If you are finishing a basement, DO NOT USE THEM. Shackelford is happy to take your money & happy to blow you off + blame you. But they're terrible at fixing problems.

I've built 4 houses since 2006. Shackelford is the worst vendor of any sub-contractor any builder used. I referred friends to this builder, who built a Parade home with them based solely on my recommendation. I'm moving to the West side so I'm building again. But I won't use Weber again because of Shackelford, & I'll show them the receipts when I'm done. Until financial consequences occur, Shackelford will continue to treat you badly. My advice is don't create a risk where Shackelford can treat you as badly as they did me.

Mike, Holly & the entire Shakelford team provided top notch service when our furnace was diagnosed as basically “dead” back in late October - right before the cold started settling in. In looking for HVAC companies to come out to provide an estimate, a friend that recently had a great experience with Shackelford referred us to them. Mike was quick to come out, assess and provide quotes for the various class of furnace we were looking to get - which was a Carrier Infinity or equivalent. Not only was Shakelford the fastest to respond (same day we contacted them) they also gave us the best quote. In less than a week from the initial call, we had our new furnace installed. The installing technicians were friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable and took the time to explain how the new smart thermostat worked. As I mentioned earlier, the entire process from start to finish was the best. I’d highly recommend them for your future heating and cooling needs!

Had Shackelford H&C replace 20+ year old heating and A/C and added a whole house humidifier. Very satisfied with the result, would recommend their team be looked at if your thinking about upgrading your home.

Shackelford Heating and Cooling have always treated me well when they have performed services for me.
I've had both my a/c unit and furnace replaced in the past and have been very happy with both the products and the service from the company.
Today (Friday, 5/13/22) my a/c unit blew a capacitor at the end of the business day. I called a few minutes before closing just to get on the schedule, and just wanted to let them know what was going on. After talking with Holly and getting on the schedule for the upcoming Monday (weekend gets in the way of service), I got a call back from Mike saying that he was driving through town and would stop by on his way to check out what was happening.
He did not need to do that, but I am very grateful.
The repair ended up being a very easy fix for him and we spent more time catching up and waiting for the a/c unit to cycle on than it took for him to perform the repair.
I always appreciate the great service I get from Shackelford Heating and Cooling and really enjoy working with them. Going the extra mile does not go unnoticed. Highly recommend!

We had our A/C and furnace replaced and the experience was excellent!
Our A/C unit had gone out with a stretch of 90+ degree days ahead. I called Shackelford in the morning and within an hour or two the owner, Mike, came out to our house and assessed the situation, and helped us decide what units would be best for us. About an hour or two after that he had a tech at our house to begin work. The tech that came out, Jim, was very professional and courteous. He talked us through everything we need to know to use our new furnace/AC and how to take care of them.
Once the work was done, the owner checked in with us again to make sure we were happy with the work and to let us know that if we ever need anything they'll be right there for us.
I was extremely pleased with how fast they got out to our house and how the owner and tech were focused on making sure we were informed and pleased with the work.
I will definitely be using Shackelford for all of our HVAC needs from now on!

Our initial appointment was with the owner, and he explained all of our options for a new furnace and gave us his best recommendations without pushing for added items and services. Mike and Hunter, the install team, were very friendly and professional and did a great job installing our new furnace. They explained everything we needed to know about the new furnace and thermostat, cleaned up after themselves, and were patient and kind to our kids. We highly recommend Shakelford!

Shackelford came through again. Our air conditioner was making a weird noise during this heat wave. I called them up and they sent someone out within an hour. The air was fixed and up and running in less than 20 min. the temp in the house didn't even have time to go up. I will never go anywhere else for any of our heating a cooling needs.
