I hired Narrows to install a heat pump in my house. I chose them out of the four contractors I got quotes from because they came up with the most straightforward system architecture (a combination of a central air handler using my existing ducts, and a mini-split unit for one room the ducts didn’t serve adequately), which led to the lowest price estimate, and because they came recommended. This was a case where cheapest was also best, because Narrows’ expertise let them figure out a better way to heat and cool my house than the other contractors.

Once my installation week arrived, everything went smoothly. I was impressed with the professionalism of the installers, and they finished their work on time with no significant trouble or rework. Since then I’ve had the heat pump for a couple weeks, and it has made a great improvement in the comfort of my house. I would recommend Narrows whole-heartedly to anyone looking to have HVAC work done. They have a great reputation, and they live up to it.

We had Narrows Heating and Cooling install a new mini-split for us. Chris was very responsive and listened to all of my questions. I was concerned about snowy winters, and making sure the unit was energy efficient. My spouse wanted the unit to be quiet. Chris recommended a couple of options and we absolutely love the Mitsubishi unit! The house had been cool through the heat waves, and stays a comfortable temperature at all times without having to think of it. He was tidy, professional, and quick. The install just took half a day, even running the outdoor unit from the opposite side of the house as the indoor, so our garden would be unobstructed. Other companies were not as patient, not as detailed in their explanations, and not as responsive. I’d say it was a middle of the road bid, and The professionalism and reliability made it worth it.

Our experience with Narrows was excellent! We chose Narrows not only because their estimate was the lowest but because there wasn’t a pushy sales type atmosphere, unlike the experiences we had with other companies. Chris’ evaluation of our situation was fast, fair, and enjoyable. The installation team was friendly and efficient. Narrows Heating/Cooling did a great job for us, from Chris’ initial visit and thorough discussion of the heat pump options that would be the best fit for our house, to the installation provided by knowledgeable and professional technicians (Casey and Sean) and the contracted electrical company. We appreciated how reliable everyone was in terms of arrival, working consistently, and finishing the project on time. They left all areas clean and debris free. Chris and the crew at Narrows Heating and AC were recommended to install a split level heat pump. There was a incentive from Tacoma Power for the system/install, and they made sure my setup and install qualified and gave me clear steps for what paperwork I needed to fill out and when to turn it in which I appreciated. The Mitsubishi ductless system they put in has been great so far with this surprise April 2022 cold snap vs my previous electric baseboard/cadet heaters. If you are curious about installing a heat pump system I would recommend Narrows for sure.

For anyone thinking about installing a mini split system in your home, call Narrows heating! I was thinking about letting a friend install the system for me and I’m so glad I didn’t. It’s a complex installation that involves attic and outside wiring, drilling through siding and lining up everything inside with the drilling. It took two skilled workers 2 days and an electrician on the second day. Narrows Heating set up all inspections after it was completed. The installation is perfect and works excellently; I’m thrilled with it and ready for the summer! Thank you Chris Calhoun and all the Narrows Heating staff that assisted me through the process.

Matt Fleming was our initial contact and representative with Narrows. He was very professional and knowledgeable about all aspects of our heat pump installation and purchase. He took care of the financing through TPU and did the paperwork that was needed. Our job took two days with Casey and Shane getting the job done timely and efficiently.
