I evaluated several highly rated local HVAC contractors (Green Leaf, Honest AC, and Trusted) and ultimately chose Trusted for the following reasons:

1) Honesty and integrity. Other contractors were promising that I'd be saving $60+ on my monthly electricity bill to justify the costs of a new system. That sounds great and all, but they weren't really being honest. My home is already very efficient (new windows, proper ventilation/insulation, etc.), so when I spoke with Alex in our initial consultation he told me flat out that I should not be expecting more than $10-15 monthly savings on my electric bill and should instead make a decision based on my desired comfort level. I appreciate this type of honestly because it allows me to make a more informed decision based on other factors such as comfort and air quality, rather than focusing on a false narrative around how soon my investment will pay itself off.

2) Customer service. Trusted staff were extremely responsive to my questions, very knowledgable in general, and up-front and honest about what I could expect by upgrading my HVAC system. Other contracts were slow to respond to my questions (if they responded at all) and gave me conflicting information about costs, services, and part compatibility. Trusted's front-desk personnel were able to answer just about all of my questions, whereas other companies couldn't answer even basic questions and instead said they'd have a technician call back -- and in many cases they never did. I don't expect front-desk folks to get deep into technical details, but they should certainly be able to answer basic questions about warranties, maintenance plans, and certifications. Every member of the Trusted staff appears to be extremely well-versed in HVAC technologies, and when they aren't they are sure to escalate and get back to customers in a very short timeframe to resolve open questions. Additionally, Trusted takes care of product registration and rebate paperwork for you, which is great because I'm quite busy and that frees me up to focus on more important things.

3) Cost. Compared to others, they were not trying to up-sell me on anything. I was given a detailed breakdown of what needed to be replaced and why, as well as why some existing parts could be reused without issue while others couldn't. Other companies wanted to replace EVERYTHING without providing any such justification, and that naturally led to unnecessary increased costs. Trusted also did not nickel-and-dime me to death as their installation quote included all the necessary work and parts. Other contractors were wanting to charge a lot extra for things such as cleaning/replacing drain lines and fabricating new supply and return plenums. Overall they weren't the least expensive, but the difference between their quote and the lowest I got was only a couple of hundred dollars. Their installation package also includes a 3-year maintenance plan which none of the others offered without additional costs, so in reality Trusted provided the best overall value.

4) Knowledge, accreditations, and credibility. I learned quite a bit from my conversations with Alex and their installation technicians. They are extremely knowledgeable and thorough, and they go out of their way to explain things in layman's terms. I'm also impressed with the number of accreditations they have when compared to others (NATE/BPI certified, owner sits on local ACCA & RSES boards) as that gives me even more confidence that they know what they are doing and are actively engaged in the community.

5) Highly rated. I tend not to put too much stock in reviews, but I must admit that I could not find any negative reviews about Trusted that established any sort of pattern of bad customer service or practices. When looking at negative reviews from other companies it wasn't very hard to find themes around bad customer service, price gouging, etc.

That said, I'm in the process of getting my installation done and I'll gladly post an update after some time has passed to talk more about our ongoing relationship.

If John was a superhero, he would be named Captain Integrity! First off, kudos to Trusted. My AC unit went out on a hot and muggy day, called them late that afternoon, and they were at my house first thing in the morning. John identified the problem in less than a minute, and made an easy repair, rather than charging me several hundred dollars for a new part that wasn’t needed. Professional, friendly, and most importantly honest!

After calling four other companies who couldn't come out until the next afternoon, Trusted picked up after the first ring and sent someone out within the hour. John showed up, immediately identified the problem and fixed it on the spot for a reasonable price, even though he didn't have the part he needed. He left to get the part he needed and came back within 30 minutes and fully fixed it. He was also very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. After spending weeks waiting on technicians who never show up when they say they will (for different issues), this was a breath of fresh, cool air. I cannot recommend this company enough!

Our office’s AC went out on us, and they were able to get a technician out quickly the next day before business hours. They told us he would be here at 7:30am, and he arrived even earlier than that to get us up and running before we opened our office for the day. James was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. Very pleased overall with their service and communication.

I bought a service package on the Spirit 105.9 auction for Trusted Heating and Cooling. I didn't have time to schedule my maintenance before I had a problem. I called them this morning and John was at my house by 1:00 p.m. He was extremely professional and quickly diagnosed my issue. The repair and visit was completed in about 30 minutes at a reasonable rate.

I would highly recommend Trusted Heating and Cooling!
