    Ed the technician seemed to be very knowledgeable about this electric furnace and discovered the problem. He gave us a detailed description of what he did and how the thermostat is supposed to work. He made appropriate phone calls to experts to get the correct procedure to fix the problem. Not all the technicians who were sent out previously had this knowledge. Ed was very polite and professional while he was here.

    The technician did a perfunctory check on heat pump and completely missed a limit switch on the backup power - electric power. When we called back over many many hours we were put on hold and eventually cut off each time. I spent all afternoon and evening trying to get a response as the temperatures in our house continued to drop until in the morning we could see our breath. We did have electricity but no heat. Boehmer was swamped and didn’t respond, just like everyone else who mentioned that they could only help their regular customers . EXCEPT WE HAVE A 300 $ MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH BEOHMER and we have been regular customers for years.. we finally by some miracle found a man to fix the heat but the long delay caused our pipes to freeze.We now have burst pipes and no water on for the next few days and much bigger expense.

    To the Boehmer response. In addition to the poor response, technicians from Boehmer just gave plain bad guidance (not all of the technicians). Two technicians on different calls told us that the heat pump we had was functional and that the wet filter we had below the cooling coils (that would freeze) could be placed above - post flow side - and that therefore we would not have to worry about that filter getting wet. That’s in addition to the bad cursory water valuation above. Our first experience was that multiple technicians they have are just not as skilled as the new person we have. We now have a new heat pump, a limit switch replaced, and a bad heating system replaced. In addition the new person installed a new humidifier at no extra cost. Good help can be hard to find - we get it. We just don’t want to be the household that suffers for it. We are not planning on using Boehmer.

    I called Boehmer for a leaking water heater and they sent Jeriah who seemed to be unfamiliar with standard water heaters. He had to call someone to diagnose why it was leaking and how to quote the price for a new one. Before leaving, I asked him twice if he had turned off the supply line to prevent additional leakage and he assured me he had . . .but when I checked, he had left it completely on. (I guess he isn't familiar with righty tighty, lefty loosey.) He also left the pilot ignitor set to "on" despite it not being lit (safety concern?). After receiving the bill for the service visit, I called to explain how poorly he had performed and was told I still had to pay the full amount despite his lack of knowledge/skills. In the past I have used Boehmer for multiple HVAC services and even a new unit but will be looking for another option. The good news is that I just had the water heater replaced for less than half the price Boehmer’s quoted me.
