I would NOT recommend this company to install or repair ANYTHING.

Gelber 'installed' a Buderus boiler in my home in 2014. I was not happy with the workmanship (very amateruish - pipes and expansion tank sitting DIRECTLY on top of the boiler, MANY old parts were re-used, etc.) and the unit leaked IMMEDIATELY after installation. They did return quickly to address that.

About a year ago, I called because the boiler was leaking - a lot. They sent a technician who replaced a part and charged me about $500.

The leak continued. I called a competent plumber who IMMEDIATELY identified the faulty part and replaced it. Problem solved.

I contacted Gelber, and to their credit, refunded the 'repair' charges. This must happen often.

About a month ago, the boiler started shutting down unexpectedly. I noticed that there were burned wires inside the unit. I called another repair company (having pretty much lost faith in Gelber) who quickly noted the poor installation and that the Gelber-installed boiler was FULL of carbon! He stated that it would be costly to repair, and a lot of poor (Gelber) workmanship must be repaired, and suggested that I call Gelber to remedy the issue, as they 'installed' it.

I called, and was told the service manager was busy, and would call me back before the end of the day. I clearly explained the situation. No hot water. No return call. I called again, and left a message. They were now closed for the day. They promised me a call back but didn't bother.

I NEVER heard from Gelber.

I ended up having a different company replace a barely 7-year old boiler. it was apparent that repairing it would be nearly as much as replacing it. I decided to replace the Gelber-installed boiler. I used a different company, who installed it professionally. This unit is working well.

Again, I do NOT recommend Gelber!!!

I see 'someone' from Gelber replied to this review below. (I still have not heard back from GELBER regarding my concerns.)

Gelber - if you ACTUALLY cared about service, you would have PROPERLY INSTALLED the boiler in the FIRST PLACE. You ALSO would have ACTUALLY CALLED me back when I called for service, instead of taking a message and NOT RETURNING MY CALL.

AGAIN - NOT RECOMMENDED.

Had a heating and cooling system installed by them 10 years ago after Hurricane Sandy. Have had service from them intermittently over the years and never had a problem. This time I called for service and was told June 10th. Since I have a leak that needs quicker service, I asked for a sooner appointment. I was told that they give priority to their clients with service contracts and I would have to wait 3 weeks until an opening. I was asked who serviced my system now, and I told them I hadn’t needed service until now. Terrible customer service I will never go back

We have used Stan Gelber and Sons for the past 15 years or so for 2 ductless systems and highly recommend this company. Brian Gelber is extremely knowledgeable and shows a great deal of care for the customer and the needs of the home. He is up on the latest technology and has always pointed us in the right direction. The crew that has installed and now services our units have always been professional and friendly. Stan Gelber and Sons have been our go-to company for our air conditioning needs.

Marco came to do the yearly AC unit service. On time and did a great job!

Stan Gelber & Sons installed two 4 ton Bryant compressors/condensers and two Carrier air handlers last Monday and Tuesday. Their workers were great and did very neat work. They also replaced items I didn't know they would replace, without any extra charge. They gave me new electric boxes and cables, a new water evacuation pump, replaced the water evacuation line because they found it was leaking, and installed valves on the hot water pipes going in and out of the hot water coil. The original installation didn't have valves on the hot water pipes.

Out of quotes from five companies Brian Gelber gave me the 2nd least expensive quote by a lot. Only one other was a little less but quoted less expensive air handlers. The other guy was recommended by a neighbor who used to be in the AC business but my neighbor and I found him to be unreliable. Now, my neighbor will use Stan Gelber & Sons at their house. I highly recommend Stan Gelber & Sons.

August 12, 2021: I hired Gelber again to convert my other house from oil heat to natural gas heating. Again, Brian was almost the least expensive but recommended an IBC boiler that I thought was a better boiler.

November 11, 2021: The oil to gas conversion was completed and they did a beautiful job! I posted a photo here of the finished job (you may have to look under Photos instead of Reviews for Stan Gelber & Sons).

I will use Brian Gelber again next year to install a snow melt system in my driveway.

I just had 6 ductless units installed. I will be using them for cooling so I can’t comment on the units as of yet. I would like to comment on the installers. I have never had a nicer group of men working in my home. They were very polite, professional, considerate and clean about the work they were doing. They explained the equipment before they left, I can only assume they are happy with the company they work for. Thank you Gelber family for having the best employees.

I can’t say enough about how great the staff was. Our AC was down and they were booked. Once the service representative heard that we have a 3 week old baby, she made sure that someone was able to get to our house that day. I wish I could remember her name (she just had a grandchild on May 5th), she was wonderful.

The technician, Marco was equally great. He was able to determine the issue and explained everything in detail that was easy to understand. Not to mention he got it up and running very quickly.

Looking forward to working with them in the future.

Jordan to the rescue! We purchased our first central air unit in 2004 from Stan Gelber & Sons, had a very positive experience with Brian and we didn’t forget it. Well fast forward 16 years later our unit was on borrowed time. Jordan came to our house and we were happy to be a second time customer. A few days later our central air stopped working 😂. Jordan sent a technician over but the Motor died (it must of heard we were replacing it). Two hot days later we had our new central air unit installed. It was originally scheduled for 3 weeks out but Jordan was able to squeeze us in so we didn’t have to be in a hot house much longer. Now Jordan, went above and beyond like his dad! I highly recommend Stan Gelber & Sons. I just hope I don’t need to see them again soon!
