Ice Age Mechanical did a great job installing a mini split AC in our 2 bedroom apartment. We worked with Alex Chica and decided the best places to install the 3 indoor air handlers and the 1 outdoor compressor unit. The whole team was very good at their work and did a great job. They were considerate of me an my wife working from home during the installation process. The installation team was great and installed the units with minimum damage to the ceiling and walls. The electrician did a good job running the wires to the units. There was in an issue with a unit not getting power and he came and resolved the issue quickly. And the person doing the painting and patching was excellent. You can't even tell where the holes in the ceiling and walls were. I highly recommend Ice Age Mechanical.
As part of three units in a small co-op we began research on the install of mini splits. Many can attest that identifying contractors to work in your home is an extensive process. We met with 3 contractors and ultimately decided on Ice Age. Reasons why: All intake sessions with the representative were detailed, direct, and informative. We were provided with timelines that were reasonable and on target. Professionalism was paramount and the team that worked in our building treated each space as though it was their own home. They led with excellence, whether it was the electrician, installers, painters, and technicians each were clearly at the top of their craft. And more importantly the follow up and engagement they continue to provide once everything was installed has been exceptional. This is a company that leads with excellence and truly cares about the quality of their work.
Edit: After leaving this review I received a call from Paula who was concerned that I had not received the estimate, as it was completed promptly by the technician the same day. She determined that my email info was incorrect and rectified everything immediately. She resent the estimate while we were still on the phone so she could confirm that it was in fact received. I also received a follow up text with direct contact info for both her and Carlos. I’m glad that the company contacted me to cleared things up. I figured it was an administrative error and left the original review hoping they’d see it and reach out, which they did! I look forward to working with Ice Age in the near future to install our new mini-split system. Once the work is done I’ll return to leave another update.
Thanks again to Paula for her professionalism and attention to the situation.
—————————————————————— I had high hopes for this company. Called for an estimate on installing 3-zone mini split in a 2 br co-op. The estimator was punctual, professional and respectful of my space and wore shoe covers and a mask. He talked me through some options and said he’d email me an estimate package to present to our board; this was the day before thanksgiving so I gave it til Tuesday the following week. No email. I even called them and left a voicemail requesting the info, and nothing. 3 weeks later and I’ve heard nothing back from the company - no callback, no emails.
Ice Age installed a mini-split unit in my basement. Victor, Jovani, Angelic and the whole team were professional, attentive and responsive. Everyone involved with the installation took pride in their work and respected my home. They were neat, clean, organized and very knowledgeable. I am pleased with the service and the unit. They also fixed the outdoor electrical in my yard. I look forward to adding more mini-splits and using other services they provide.
Victor and his team installed six Mitsubishi ductless mini-split units last summer in our old Brooklyn brownstone. From our very first meeting until the final clean-up, they were punctual and responsive, and the work itself was outstanding in every respect. The job was fairly complex because of the challenges posed by our house, but they handled it with courtesy, efficiency and great skill, and managed to be completely unobtrusive. Victor and the installers worked with me to propose a clever installation plan that solved the issues created by the layout of our house. They were careful to clean up after themselves and left the house looking neat and tidy; the patch and paint work was first class. Having checked with a couple of competitors in the space, I would say Victor's pricing was very reasonable. The team Victor assembled was superb: the installers really know their stuff, Carlos may be the best electrician I've worked with, and Rafael handled the re-plastering and painting with great skill and attention to detail. Jonathan, the project manager, was exactly who you would want for a job like this, and he was responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful - a credit to the company. This is about as good a contractor experience as it's possible to have - these guys are true professionals who care about the quality of their work, and I recommend them without hesitation
I hired Ice Age Mechanical to install 4 split A/C and heating units in my home. They were excellent. The crew was respectful, punctual, and friendly. Nicholas, the sales rep went above and beyond to provide an outstanding service. He's extremely professional, thorough, and responsive. They were mindful of my 2 cats too. I'm a real estate agent, so I'll be sending a lot of referrals their way.
Provided a timely consultation and equally timely installation of a very difficult project that most would not even entertain doing. I can’t recommend them highly enough. The workers were excellent and took all precautions needed to protect the work area. I would give them six stars if that was available.
I found this company through Mitsubishi and very glad I did. I have dealt with some really bad company's and contractors and installers in the past. Ice age was really great and I'm thankful for that. I had 3 indoor a/c units replaced and 2 outdoor condensers were turned in to 1 that controlled the whole thing, so it saves me outdoor space plus money every month. Anyway Coned has rebates on new installs, so I figured I would hope it works. So far so good, it's been about a month and I've used the heat and a/c and everything works fine. The installers were professional, the sales guy Carlos was just great. He's very informative, on time, professional. This company is run well and I can't imagine you wouldn't have the same quality install I had, so I would highly recommend them
We have only praise for Carlos and his team at Ice Age. Their company deserves an A+ for both their excellent workmanship and service.
In choosing Ice Age, we first brought in several other Mitsubishi Diamond Elite companies to conduct walk-throughs of our apartment and provide estimates. From Carlos's first visit to our home, we were impressed by his knowledge, attitude, demeanor, and professionalism. Carlos was also incredibly patient and responsive in answering our many evolving questions.
Equally impressive were the Ice Age workers that physically uninstalled our old PTAC and split ductless units and installed our four new AC units and condenser. The team consistently showed up on time, and their output was top notch.
One of the best parts of Ice Age is that they are a soup-to-nuts contractor. In practical terms, this means that they will not only uninstall old units and install new ones, but they also have electricians, plumbers, and other folks on hand to make sure that no further work is necessary once the job is done. (Other AC companies, for example, weren't willing or able to insulate or patch the holes in the wall caused by uninstalling the old units or running new wiring and piping through our ceilings and walls. Others still would patch the walls, but wouldn't paint them or replace the moldings affected by their work. Ice Age handled all of this, leaving no trace of the old units, and installing the new ones perfectly.)
On top of all of this, Ice Age's estimate came in below each of the other companies we were considering for this job.
In short, we were highly impressed by the quality of their work, and thankful that they ended every day by cleaning our apartment, and leaving it in the condition they found it. (Because they did the installation during the pandemic, every Ice Age worker consistently wore masks and shoe-coverings whenever they were inside our home, to avoid tracking dirt and spread of germs.)
For all of these reasons, we cannot more highly recommend Ice Age Mechanical.
Ice Age Mechanical just finished another installation for me. This time it was 3x 3 head units. It was part of the Con Ed rebate program for heat pumps. Ice Age filed the paperwork and I was approved almost immediately which reduced my cost my almost 40%. As mentioned previously, their work is impeccable. They did the job in the time they estimated. They had to work around tenants, so they needed to work smart and neatly and clean up each day. Their electrician, Carlos, routed the power with little disruption of another apartment both in time and how he ran the line. Victor does the finish work which was included in the price and I can't tell where the lines were run. I would (and did) use them again.
I contracted Ice Age to install a 3 head hyper heat Mitsubishi mini-split system. I selected Victor and his crew because he was the only contractor who suggested that I upgrade the electrical service and install wall thermostats. I actually verified with my electrician that the current service was inadequate. I also researched the system and discovered that variability in temperature existed when using the system for heating and installing the wall thermostat was the fix. Even with the extras, his price was comparable to others that I received.
Regarding installation, his crew was great. Carlos set up the configuration for the crew. They were very considerate of the apartment, polite and neat. The configuration allowed them to just channel through one wall. They installed the system actually 1/2 day earlier than they initially proposed. I even received a significant credit for the electrical upgrade since the job was easier than in the contract.
Finally the office staff was very helpful and always responsive. It is a pleasure when someone calls you within a few hours of your email with answers. I would highly recommend Ice Age Mechanical and would use them again.
