Golden Valley Heating & Air

We worked with GV as they are Costco's local Twin Cities installers. We ordered an A/C (16 SEER, 2 ton) and furnace (50K BTU (I think), two-stage gase, ECM motor). They were communicative and worked with us to find a good time for installation. The day before we received call telling us when they would be there the next day. John arrived on time and began working. Later two more guys showed up and they had the install done in about 8 hours. All new furnace and needed ducting, moved our A/C and installed a new cooler line and electric. Everything was cleaned up afterward and they were all really nice people. Definitely recommend GV.

In June 2016 our AC compressor failed and needed replacement. I talked to three vendors that had high recommendations from friends and neighbors. I went with GV, and I'm very happy with them. Their price was competitive, their installers arrived on time, and the installation went smoothly. I needed them to install the new unit in a different location from the old unit, so they needed to extend the electrical and coolant connections. The finished result is nicely done and we love our new Lennox AC unit. It runs much less frequently than our old system, and it keeps our house cooler on hot days.

Bottom line, I'm very pleased with GV Heating & Air and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any future work.

Golden Valley Heating and Air was great to work with. They replaced our 28 year old systems with a new 98% efficient systems. The workers were professional and they did a great job cleaning up after the work was completed.

OMG! It went great! Tom was outstanding. He called as he was on his way and arrived perfectly on time.

3 weeks earlier, I had called another AC company to fix my AC that stopped working, and that previous company messed it up. After this earlier company "fixed it", my AC still wouldn't cool down properly, it leaked constantly now to boot, they left exposed wires and a dirty condenser (which is likely what caused the problem to begin with). This previous company wouldn't come back to fix the problems (leaking AC, wouldn't cool properly) and then wouldn't return my call.

So I then contacted this company, Golden Valley Heating and Air, for an AC & Furnace Tune Up and they outdid themselves. Not only did they do a great job on the tune up, but they also fixed the issues that that last company caused and broke, Tom, the technician who showed up, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and very non-assuming.

He was very kind and patient, and took time to answer my questions, and walk me through what was wrong, and what my options were. He ended up doing a bit more extra work than what is included in the routine tune up, and he only charged a nominal fee for doing so (it was very fair, and it was definitely needed!). As it is, he has to order a couple of parts and come back another time, and I am not charged another trip charge, as it's a continuation of this job. Again, very fair, and it's a nice surprise!

This company is the one to use and keep. They have a customer for life in us.

My recommendation to you, Angie's List Readers: To get the best value, call them and set up a Routine Joint AC & Heater Tune Up Appointment (do both at the same time and save some money, $169 total for both at the same time when I did it). It might not be an immediate appointment (they are a great company and in demand - my appointment was about 11 days out). And during their appointment, along with the tune up, they will access your AC and/or Furnace needs, and if, and only if it's needed, they will recommend what is needed, and then you decide if you want to do it. Then I would also recommend for you to do this routine AC and Furnace Tune Up every year going forward, and likely miss out on any unexpected and expensive repairs. If you need a new AC and/or Furance, I would also recommend this company. Plan it in advanced, and try scheduling it during a slow time, and save a ton.

From the first phone call to the installation of the humidifier I ordered, I have to say I was very pleased with the patience of both the office and technician with my questions and concerns. I'm so far happy with the install of both HVAC systems (AC & Furnace). The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 star is the price. I'm learning that I may have over paid. If using Costco, shop around with other dealers in Maplewood or others that work through other Costco branches before settling on one.

The Service Tech (Tom) from Golden Valley Heating and Air was fantastic. He listened to my needs for a new WiFi Thermostat that could control all my HVAC equipment and had the solution on the truck. He installed quickly and efficiently and walked me through everything. I was quite impressed with all his work.
