My AC decided to stop working right before the last heat wave. I reached out to a number of companies to get quotes to fix it. Turns out the best thing was to replace and not fix. I chose Golden Valley Heating and Air because of their simple, no pressure sales approach. Unlike other companies they were not interested in upselling me. Along with the new AC I had them address some Duct work issues I was having and add a humidifier to my furnace. They were able to fit me in within a week. Josh and Q showed up right on time, were very courteous, professional, and well experienced. They answered all my questions and made me feel at ease that they knew what they were doing. They left the areas they worked in cleaner than when they showed up. If you need HVAC work done, I strongly suggest you contact these folks.
I had needed a replacement furnace/AC for several years. Brian, the owner of GV Heating and Air came out to give an estimate. His professionalism and guidance helped me select the appropriate units for my needs, reducing the choices to simple options of noise vs. cost.
The job involved rebates from several sources. Susan from their office made it painless. All documentation was sent via email; she took care of the onerous job of filing for all the rebates involved. Scheduling was a breeze, and when she called with an opportunity to move up the date became available, they were there, bright and early.
The installation crew was extraordinarily professional. Over 6 or 7 hours, they removed the old hulk of a furnace and installed the new one. The craftsmanship and detail they demonstrated was consistently first rate. Every installation needs to be custom. They also endured my questions with good grace and smiles.
In a final complement, the inspectors for both the mechanical and electrical work spoke highly of them. “They do great work.”
1/2020: The work was good and the servicemen were courteous, but PVC glue was dripped on our washing machine along with dark grease marks. Now I have purple marks and grease marks that won't come off! (In trying to remove the grease, I started removing some of the ink on the washer, so I stopped.) Someone from the company came to check on it, but nothing has been done to accommodate the marring of our washing machine.
Update 1/21/20: After seeing our review, we were contacted by the company. They said they wanted us to be satisfied, and they would replace the front or send us a check to cover the cost of replacing the front. They were very prompt in sending us the check. We received it within a few days of them contacting us.
It is nice to know there are companies who still value good customer service, care about their reputation, and will follow up on dissatisfied customers. I would, definitely, work with this company, again.

Been a long time customer, however after a recent service trip this fall, we will no longer use Golden Valley Heating & Air. Technician caused significant damage to our basement flooring due to unplugging our condensate pump causing a slow leak over several weeks. When finally noticed we had a return visit to confirm. When confronting service manager Dennis- met with zero resolution to matter, unprofessionalism, and several excuses for his delay in responses. I was refused the opportunity to speak with ownership and the liability aspect was simply tossed back in my lap as homeowner as that his technician refused any such actions, and it was noted I could have unplugged unit. Essentially their word against mine as the homeowner... even though I have video surveillance of technician clearly plugging in his shop vacuum to the outlet that pump is normally plugged into. I would strongly encourage anyone considering GVHA to closely supervise their technicians coming onsite, or to have surveillance footage of work being performed. If zero stars were an option I would leave... as the lack of customer service displayed by the service manager was greatly disappointing, not to mention the lack of involvement by owenership with front line customers in these scenarios shows their lack of interest in client base.
Included is the water damage in our home! This company does not stand behind their work. Please avoid them. We are so frustrated! These floors are only two years old! Never had water in our basement.

Another professional came to adjust some settings promptly when requested within the same week and was very helpful. Very impressed by the quality of customer service.

He actually tried to talk me into downsizing the AC unit (until he understood the thermal load of our home). A complete distinction from other major players in the Twin Cities. Installation was a breeze and very professional. Highly recommended.
We had stellar service from GV Heating and Air. They were prompt, professional, and cleaned up after completing the work. They installed a high efficiency furnace and central air the day after giving us their bid. I was impressed with the whole experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
my last install was a furnace and heat pump through costco (the best value i could find). they were professional and did a great job. my previous experience a few years ago was also great.

Good initial conversation with Jarod to evaluate options and deciding to add furnace to AC, scheduling with Susan, installation with Mike and Abe, and follow-up with Tom to Wright Hennepin. Mike was particular thorough in explanations of the systems and the installation looks great. Nice operation and control with WiFi connected thermostat.
