Both our service technicians were great Mike and I can't remember the younger gentleman that came out to fix our dryer. I was extremely happy my husband's battling cancer and they worked with me for the hours needed to repair out appliances. Thank you so much. Will continue to request colonial for future services
Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. Our AC unit is on the out, so we decided to call around to get quotes to get it replaced. Colonial replaced our furnace a few years ago, and they allegedly offer a discount for return customers, so we got a quote for a new unit. ($4200) We called another company, who we have never gone through before and their quote was $4300 for a bigger unit than Colonial offered. We decided to go with the other company, so my husband called Colonial to let them know we needed to cancel our appointment because we are going with another company. Instead of either trying to price match (it's okay if they don't do that) or saying that they are sorry that they cannot price match but thank you, they just said, "fine go with the other place" and just hung up on my husband. Whoever works the phones over there apparently was not taught manners by their mother. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.
UPDATE: THE MAN THAT RUNS THE PHONES JUST CALLED US REGARDING THIS REVIEW CLAIMING THEY DIDNT HANG UP IN US. THE PRICE WASNT THE REASON I LEFT THE BAD REVIEW. OT WAS THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE NO MANNERS AND HUNG UP ON US. NOW THE MAN ON THE PHONE SAID THAT OUR "LITTLE 1 STAR REVIEW ISNT GOING TO HURT" THEM AND HUNG UP ON MY HUSBAND AGAIN!!!! ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL., Clearly this company cannot be professional about not getting business, and STILL can't be professional about a bad review. Learn how to run a business, and realize that you don't need to call someone back over a 1 star review that they left you. If it really wasn't going to "hurt" you, why did you care enough to call back?
I have been a Colonial Heating customer since 2011. On 2/13/2023 my Emerson Blue wireless thermostat wireless connection to the furnace control module failed as the thermostat battery power was low. I replaced the batteries, but the thermostat wireless connection was still indicating failure.
I then followed the thermostat installation instructions for re-establishing the wireless connection to the furnace control module when simply replacing the thermostat batteries failed, no luck.
I called Colonial Heating - is there anything else I could try to establish the wireless connection before asking for a service call. I was put on hold while a technician was consulted. I was asked how old the thermostat was (7 years) and if I had held the thermostat next to the control module (yes ). I was told that I probably needed a new thermostat/ control module upon which I scheduled a service call. Note that I had to pay $149 up front before the service call could be scheduled.
Imagine my surprise and dismay when all the service tech did was to power cycle the furnace to make it connect! Note that this was the very first (and only) task the Colonial Heating service tech performed. In other words, it was common knowledge that cycling the furnace power could easily restore the wireless connection.
Why was that advice not given to me on the phone call? When I called Colonial Heating to complain, I was told that even though I was a long time customer, I should not expect to get technical help over the phone forever.
I do not consider cycling the furnace power to be a technical task, after all, my 3 1/2 year old grand daughter can flip a light switch off and on.
I am VERY unhappy paying $149 to have my furnace switch flipped off then on.
I will NEVER use this company again, and I suggest that everyone should consider this treatment of a long time customer before hiring Colonial Heating
I had issues with my AC and Colonial came to rescue. They were very quick at fixing it and giving me professional advice on how to maintain my system for increasing lifespan. Would work with them again in the future.
They were so very nice. Although very busy they made sure I was serviced in a timely manner. Even the young woman that answered the phone and questions for me was very polite. That makes a huge difference when your furnace is out. The kindness and quick scheduling made a big difference.
DTE sent this company to my house the end of last summer to fix my ac. They charged me $500 to replace the motor. After that they had to come back multiple times and every time it was a new tech saying it was something else. Then it got to cold and they said they could not come back until it got hot again. The spring started and we called DTE only to have the same company come out again for them to tell me I need a new AC unit. So when I asked for my money back for the motor I got the run around and still have not received it. Horrible company. If DTE sends this company request someone else!!
This was actually for my electric dryer. Super nice Tech. Didn’t rush. Explained things to me first of what the problem usually is. Ended up not plugged in all the way. I swear I checked that. 😂 overall Nice company from start to finish!
Poor service and unprofessional, not knowledgeable. Had colonial install a furnace and AC in 2016 or so. They have been out to repair it several times since, always blamed something new and always collecting more money from me. Bad wiring at install, wrong thermostat at install, etc. When the AC wouldn't turn on this year I called them again. They were rude and unprofessional and tried to give me a run around with new fees. I finally decided to stop throwing good money after bad with these folks. They just don't know what they're doing. STEVE and MATT in Canton MI area are to be avoided - They were actually rude, first time I've had that experience with any company like this. But save yourself time and money and use a different company.
I found this company through DTE, my boiler went out on one of the coldest day of 2023.
I called on a Friday morning, and thankfully, they were available to come out the same day. Although, I needed a part replaced they were able to replace it by the following Tuesday.
Very professional and worked very quickly. I would recommend them to anyone.
My dishwasher just died. Colonial was scheduled to come fix it through the DTE appliance program. They came the next day. Called when they were about 1/2 hour of arrivivg. They were right on time. The repair they tried didn't work so they ordered another part and were back the next day, on time. Still didn't work and it needed a final part or an entire replacement. The part needed was back ordered so for almost 2 weeks we waited. Colonial called regularly to keep us updated. When it arrived they were ready to immediately install. They came outside regular hours to install and now I have an almost new dishwasher and I never Paid a dime. Thanks to DTE for their program, and thank you Colonial for the great job you did.
