Winters has been our go-to for plumbing & HVAC for a little over a year now and they've always been great to work with. Last year we had them install a new tankless combi boiler after our unit's original furnace died, and most recently they installed a new toilet and related parts after the old one started leaking. All of the technicians we've had so far have been great (shout out to Brian and Chase especially!) and showed clear expertise in their field, and I really appreciate how direct and down-to-earth they are when discussing options, while still being friendly and pleasant to work with. If I had to find a negative, I'd say that they do seem to be one of the more expensive options in this field, but I'm fine paying a premium to know the work is being done right and will be backed up if any issues arise.

June 2021 review - My heating & A/C system was installed in Dec 2010. I have had quite a few issues with either the heating or cooling systems and they were all covered under the 10 year warranty we purchased (the company no longer offers this type of warranty). I had been satisfied since I didn't have to pay extra for all of the repair calls over the past decade. In July 2015, the first A/C leak was discovered. The system was recharged. In May 2020, a leak in the Schrader valve was found by pressure testing, however no fluorescent dye was used to detect for other leaks. This year in June 2021, now that I am outside the 10 year warranty period, the system is again low on refrigerant and had to be refilled. I was not charged for this service call. This time, the technician (Rafael - who was knowledgeable and a good communicator) added the fluorescent dye to the refrigerant. The technician indicated with the leak in 2020, it would have been best practice to add the fluorescent dye. Had this been done, it is possible more leaks could have been detected and repaired under the 10 year warranty. After discussing with the service manager, Zane, I have a follow up service call this September 2021 to look for the presence of any fluorescent dye. Depending on what is found, we will discuss who will be responsible for that repair. For now I give the company a mixed review because a lot will depend on how the company chooses to address this next step. Will they guarantee their work to find and address the source of the A/C leak(s) originally detected in 2020, while still under warranty, or not?
Sept 2021 review: Vincent came out today 9/20/2021 and performed a follow up leak search as previously scheduled. No large leak was found but there definitely is a small leak somewhere is the system as the pressures were not what they should have been. Sealant was added in the hopes of plugging up any small leaks. The system was also recharged with refrigerant at no charge (would have cost $3000). Plan is to return in May 2022 and check the pressures. If they are low again then the small leak(s) may be at the external compressor or internal A-coil, or both. Since the system is now over 10 years old & no longer covered under warranty, the recommendation would be to replace the entire AC system, which will cost $7-9K. Could the small leak have been detected earlier when the system was still under the 10 year warranty? Could Winters have done a better job at detecting & repairing the leak(s)? In my opinion, possibly yes, which is why I continue to give a mixed review. Overall I am satisfied with the responses from Winters (as the multiple service calls were covered under the 10 yr warranty; the technicians were all very courteous and responsive to my questions) but obviously not happy with the equipment failure (York) during the 10 years we owned the unit. A Trane system was recommended IF we install another AC system.

Anthony was awesome: competent and super-friendly…So friendly that I told my amicable, midwestern husband that he made him look like an old grump lol. Anthony immediately identified that our issue was electrical and not plumbing-related and recommended their awesome, affiliated electrical company who showed up the next day and solved our problem literally within minutes. Would absolutely use this company again, which is saying a lot because around here, we have a lot of very talented plumbers AND electricians to choose from.

Winters Home Service was great to work with - they were kind, professional and responsive when I called for an appointment - and made setting up a time easy. Zane came out to do the diagnosis on my boiler, and then again the next day for the follow-up work (part needed to be obtained). He was knowledgable, efficient, and positive and pleasant as he worked out the problem. He was also patient and clear answering all my questions. And I am grateful my home is now toasty warm.

I had a very poor experience with Winters. The way of diagnosing my Heating unit was completely wrong. The worst part is they had me try to fix one thing first and try another. First they told me I had to replace the gas valve which cost me over $1000. After that didn’t work he did the pressure switch would be the likely candidate and the quote was $500. Keep in mind that the cost for the switch is like $65. To replace the switch is a 5 minute job. He also quoted me in case that doesn’t work that I will have to replace the induction fan motor kit which will be over $2000.
This is just bad and unethical business practice to have a customer try a fix and pay for it until the bill racks up to $3600-$3700 dollars. After he replaced the gas valve I chose to go with a second opinion. I brought a local guy in and he spent a little more time diagnosing and found the root cause to be the exhaust vent (pvc) was blocked/restricted. He said he was 100% confident that is the reason and won’t charge me if it doesn’t work other than the visit fee. He ended having to cut through the PVC pipe and repaired it. The system is working perfectly for a few hundred dollars. I wasted $1000 with the repair with Winters that I should not have needed. I called Winters about what happened and he said they had to stand by their tech and that their tech who performed my work was one of their best guys. Also the tech claimed the gas valve was broken but of course he had taken the part with him and I cannot prove if it really was. Seems really shady practice to me. I was told later that they will talk to the GM about the situation and they were going to call me back. This never happened. I recommend staying away from Winters unless you want to spend 10x more than you really need.

Maury and Jesse were outstanding! They fixed my issue beautifully and showed such incredible expertise, professionalism and efficiency. Not to mention their affability too was a plus. I can't express how happy I am with their service. They are an asset to Winters Home Service!!! Thank you very much!

Chase & Connor were both truly awesome to work with!! Not only did they fix both of our toilets, but Chase even fixed/gave me advice on a basement sewer pipe (a completely unrelated issue, but it was most appreciated nonetheless!)
Furthermore, when I noticed a tiny leak on the toilet (about 2 hours after they'd left), I called the dispatcher & was told everyone had gone home for the day. 10 minutes later, they call back to say that Chase & Connor were willing to come back THAT SAME NIGHT (at about 7pm) to get rid of that leak.
Overall, 10/10 for them. Will definitely hire again for any future plumbing issues!

I recently bought a house that has a unit that uses oil for heat. I contacted a few places to request a quote on how much an oil to gas conversion would cost; Winters was the only company to respond. They were also incredibly speedy to respond. In fact, the only delays in scheduling a consultation were on my end. I spoke to two admins over the phone who were very professional and quick in scheduling something for the next day. They told me the technician would arrive for a consultation between 8am-10am. When a company gives me a window, I'm pretty used to them showing up at the very end of the window or afterwards, so I was pleasantly surprised when Jamie called me around 8am to tell me he would be arriving late. He arrived within the window, and gave me some really great, informative, and honest feedback. He gave estimates on two different systems, patiently answered all my questions, and even recommended a local company that does services that Winters doesn't. He was very friendly and kind. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them!

We called Winters with an unusual issues involving pipes throughout our very old South End home. Technicians quickly identified the issue and effectively resolved the problem. Very professional. We will definitely use them again.

Zane quickly and efficiently fixed my radiator leak. He arrived on time, and the job took just about the estimated time. He also fixed two other minor problems with bleeder valves while recharging the system. He was neat and friendly.
