Dave was awesome he took the time to explain everything to me and exactly what the price was and why. I appreciated that. I’d highly recommended these guys for all you’re fireplace repair.
Installed new 50 gal Rheem water heater and repaired/serviced a/c system. Dave was on time and did a quality job. I will continue to use Castle Rock Heating and Air for all my rentals and personal property. Thank you again Dave for a job well done.
I have enjoyed working with Dave these past 2 years on my furnace and air conditioning. He is always punctual and professional. His pricing is fair and only charges me for what I need.
Run do not walk away from Castle Rock Heating & Air.
Tech came out and looked at my furnace and gave me a quote for $1500 to repair for parts and labor. It was $1000 in parts and $468 in labor. Not wanting to throw good money at a bad furnace I asked what it would cost to replace the 9yr old 45K BTU furnace - No AC he told me $5.5K. When I asked why so much he told me it was ~$1800-$2000 in labor plus $3500 for the new unit..
He told me he was going to go close up the furnace and get his tools. He left and when I went back to the attic I discovered the tech did not re-secure the front panel of the furnace and when I pulled it off to reinstall discovered he left wires lose he had pulled to troubleshoot.
I googled the parts and I can buy the exact same parts for $158. The cost of the furnace is about $2600 including shipping and $1000 from another licensed HVAC company to install. Big difference between $1500 to fix and $158 in parts and $3600 and $5500.
These guys are GREAT! We had an emergency in mid December with our furnace short cycling after a power outage. We called several heating and cooling services with no luck (most didnt answer) Castle Rock heating and air answered and scheduled us within the hour. They were out to our house way quicker than expected and fixed our furnace in a very reasonable amount of time. The staff is always helpful and friendly and they don't cost an arm and a leg! Will use their service from now on! Highly recommend! A side note, it was a blessing they got out to us so quickly (we live out towards limon) as our gas valve was stuck! They are life savers.
I know repairs can be hit or miss, but I wasn't excited to learn that I had spent $700 to 'fix' my furnace, only to have it not working again immediately after the technician left. He told me I needed to clean my evap coil and that my furnace was overheating because it had to work too hard to move air through dirty filters. He made this diagnosis after seeing that I recently changed out my filters. However, he NEVER even opened the panel to look at the evap coil (the panel sealant was still intact) so he was making assumptions. I had to call another company and they came out and looked at my evap coil. It wasn't pristine, but certainly not too dirty. He dug around a bit and found out that my capacitor was shot (it was bulged out) and promptly replaced it. So, $400 and I should have never had to pay the original $700 in the first place. I called to let the company know about the misdiagnosis and have never heard back. This is not what I would consider good customer service.
I have used Dave for the last few years. At my home for fireplace and furnace, and at my commercial space for rooftop HVAC units. He has been able to fix everything I’ve thrown at him so far. He’s amazing!
Service was good. Definitely fixed the problem, but stupidly over priced. My lawyer charges less for 1/2 hr. Won't call again. I was looking for a company that I could work with long term but will take my business elsewhere.
Now, for those of you that care to read the details, see below:
I called this company as my power vent, water heater had a problem with the thermostat where it kept on placing itself into 'Vacation Mode' (where the tank only keeps the water heated at a luke warm level). Now this could have been a few things. The thermostat needed to be replaced, the ignition rod needed to cleaned, or the flame sensor needing some maintenance. All are an easy 30 minute job (except for replacing the thermostat, which is easy, but requires the tank to be drained, so add another 20-30 minutes for that), but due to limited time, I decided to pay someone to do it.
Google has a money back guarantee for this company, so what could go wrong, right? Yeah well...
First, the company was a no-show. After scheduling a block of time with Castle Rock Heating and Air, they just didn't show up. No call. No explanation. So, I called their office, and convinced the female who answered to call their tech, and figure out what was going on.
FINALLY, an hour after the scheduled appointment time, a man named 'Dave' shows up. I tell him what's going on with the heater, and he IMMEDIATELY jumps to (and mind you, this is without even looking at it, or testing the system) replacing the unit. I thought that was weird, but told him that I thought that this was a thermostat issue, to run his tests and let me know what he found.
I left him to 'test' my system and he comes up to me literally 60 seconds later, stating that the thermostat was indeed bad, but that production was stopped for that specific part, so the tank itself would need to be replaced. He then went on to say that even if they still made the part, that it was $400 + $600 for labor, just to replace the thermostat.
Now, this was WEIRD, because (and who could fault him, right?) I had already researched the part before he arrived, and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, it is still VERY much in production, costs $170, and again (see above) only takes 60 minutes to drain the tank and install... yeah.
Anyways, I decided to play along and ask him how much it would be to replace the tank. This joker straight up told me that (without giving me any options on which kind of tank I wanted installed) it would be $5,000 for the tank and labor, and that they would also be charging me TAX ON LABOR. Hahahahhaa! After this, I promptly asked him to leave.
Long story short, this company, no showed, and then when they did show, lied about replacement parts in order to up sell me on replacing the hot water tank at a cost that it almost $1,500 more than the going rate. I even checked with Nytech, who confirmed that for a 'top of the line' and LARGER tank comparable with what I already have wouldn't be anymore than $3,500, at MOST. Yeah... And Nyetech is pricy, but at least they aren't trying to swindle you.

We had a fireplace upgrade done by Dave. He did an excellent job of installing a blower unit and remote control device.

Predatory. Discourteous. Disrespectful. Dishonest.
STAY. AWAY.
