Rescued AGAIN by Howard Air – Thanks Tons!!! You have been there for me so many times – With my old home/turned into rental, current home, daughter’s home (new unit), and my home again yesterday – a Sunday! From the answering service, to the office lady who called back with previous paperwork at hand, to the tech – Great Job everyone! Technician Chase thought it was a couple issues – Corrected one and redid diagnostics to find the second possible issue also need to be rectified. All done in less than 5 hours from first call to finish – Greatly appreciate the fantastic service.

Tried a different company and got all kinds of bad news. They guy said I needed to replace one of my AC units, the handler and furnace at a cost of over $10,000. I wanted a second opinion so I called Howard Air. Troy ran diagnostics and said one of the units needed a new capacitor. He also found the unit is under warranty. Cost to me was $150. Howard Air is a very honest company. I highly recommend them.

We moved into a new home recently and had no idea how horribly installed the AC was by the previous owner. Dave was very knowledgeable and helpful with explaining it all to us. Instead of just telling us what we needed to get our AC up and running, he checked everything so we could be warned for the future. I had to severely limit the specifics of my situation in order to fit the character limit here unfortunately, but here goes....my AC was blowing "not so cold" air. I called a Howard Air tech out. He hooked up his gear, and told me I needed refrigerant (shocker). I said, ok but "why?" do I need it. Is there a leak? You haven't even seen the upstairs air handler yet, do you want to check the attic? Well, if you want me to do a leak check, that will be an additional $230 to what you have already paid to have me out, and going into the attic isn't going to tell me anything more than I already know. So he put the refrigerant in (8lbs worth) after telling me that it shouldn't take more than 4 or 5. And guess what? It didn't fix the issue at all. So then he recommended that we do a leak check for the extra $230. I told him that I was trying to figure out how a leak check was going to help me at this point, when there is already 8lbs of refrigerant in there and the readings never changed. i also informed him that I was not going to pay $800 for refrigerant. He told me that he would only charge me for 3lbs, which was actually the only good thing about this visit. I heard him on the phone with someone multiple times during the visit, and it was clear that he had no idea what was going on with my unit. So I paid the bill $387 and called out Williams Mechanical. The technician from Williams was shocked that the previous tech never went into the house at all to look at the air handler. After hearing about the refrigerant, he went up there first. In five mins he saw that the blower motor was burned out. He brought one from his truck, replaced it and then had to go downstairs and remove refrigerant from the line becuse the previous technician had severely overcharged it. Which means...I paid Howard Air almost $400 to come out and cause more problems than were there from the start. So, I contacted Howard Air (Justin Hathaway), told him my situation, sent him the invoice from Williams Mechanical and told him that I would like the refrigerant refunded. He said he would look into it, and then ghosted me completely. I then sent this issue over to our sales person Scott Byrd and let him know what was going on (hoping for some help and professional courtesy since we have invested over $40k with this company in the past)....to my dismay....no response. Not even the courtesy of an explanation. Because, quite frankly there is no explanation for this. So instead of getting back to me and working with me, they just chose to ignore me. I have already seen issues about Justin on previous reviews here, so I guess it is not a total surprise, but this was a huge disappointment to me. If they treat a customer of more than a decade like this, what chance do you have as a newbie? I would steer clear of this company going forward, something has clearly changed. Give Williams Mechanical a call, great customer service by a smaller company that still apparently cares about its customers, not just making a buck.
Update - 3 months later, nobody called or cared. This is just an auto-responder below that the company puts in place.

Totally satisfied. Howard Ait technician spent 2 days troubleshooting my system including a complete diagnostic and interior duct inspection. Finally determined a non-OEzm game was installed and ordered another. Later that night replaced fan and system is as good as new. Wonderful job.
