Last spring my A/C wasn’t blowing cold air. I called Main Street on a recommendation from a coworker, and someone from Main Street (I thought it was a technician, but it was probably a salesperson) showed up shortly thereafter. She took a 5-minute glance at my A/C unit, then told me the motor was burned up and totally unusable.

She went on to explain that my cheapest option was to have them replace the motor for $500. However, she also said there was a possibility the entire unit would need replacing, and that would cost well over $3,000. She left her information and asked me to call her to schedule the appointment to have a technician come check it out.

My next call was to my home warranty company, who contracted another HVAC company (can’t remember the name) to give a second opinion. I was at work, but when they called to let me know their assessment, the technician told me, “Your fuse wasn’t switched on. I went ahead and turned it on for you and it’s blowing cold air now.”

Needless to say, I never called them again, and have warned several friends and family members to stay far, far away from Main Street.

TLDR - Main Street asked me to pay up to $3,000 for a “burned up motor” when the only problem was that the A/C fuse wasn’t switched on.

They came out actually brought a tool bag, and ran some tests. As the company I had come out prior had no tools, no tests and just basically was pushing a new furnace.
They are up front honest, explained options, and tells your cost right there. We had to order the part so they will be coming back for install next wk.

This local firm was responsive, effective communicators, and professional installing my new heater. They went way beyond the extra mile.... one has to crawl through a hole to get to my heater... they cleared, they cleaned, they explained and came in with the same brand of furnace under the national firm's quoted price.

I wish I was writing a 5 star review like all these others but our experience has been terrible. We were having the furnace replaced and an A/C unit put in by Main Street at a home we had just bought. The system is only partially installed (the A/C is still in the box outside) after multiple delays. Brent the owner came out on 6/30 to give us a bid and we hired them the following week. On 7/8 we got a confirmation that they would install on 7/14. And then we started getting hit with the delays.

The first two delays were because of equipment shortages (which I understand) however they failed to inform us of the delay the second time so we drove out and sat at the house for 45 minutes past their scheduled arrival time before they finally answered the phone.

They were then able to start the install yesterday (7/28) and were suppose to finish it today (7/29). Wouldn't you know it we showed up and waited over an hour past their scheduled show time and had to call multiple times to find out where they were. Turns out they're not coming today and didn't bother to call us to let us know, again! They told us there was an emergency service call the tech had to respond to and that the soonest they could get someone out to finish the job wouldn't be until 8/8!

No communication and this kind of delay is unacceptable. When we asked to speak to Brent (we really liked him!) we were told he was on vacation this week and we would have to wait till next week to talk with him. I don't know about you, but if I'm the owner of a small business and have an angry customer I wouldn't care that I'm on vacation, call me so it can be resolved.

I'm hopeful that this can be resolved promptly and professionally. If so I'll amend this review with the results. Though at this point, with family moving from out of state in a few days and now not being able to move in, I'm concerned I'll have to pay a bunch of money to another company to come finish what Main Street can't seem to do.

Prompt and professional. We’ve used Main Street several times and they’ve always done great work. I had a Saturday morning furnace emergency and Amanda arrived within 2 hours. My heat was restored very quickly! I was given maintenance tips to prevent further problems, which doesn’t always happen. We are definitely lifetime customers. I also appreciate that Amanda respected my personal health need for her to wear a mask properly in my home. Other business contractors have not.

What a great crew. We returned from out of town to find our furnace was out. This was on a Saturday afternoon. Amanda came out within an hour and determined a board was fried. She even loaned us a space heater to make our home comfortable. This was followed up by a determination that a new furnace was required, with much consultation with us. Brent provided a reasonable bid with explanation of charges. The installation by Shawn and his partner was flawless and completed on time. I highly recommend Main Street Heating and Cooling.
