General Air Conditioning HVAC company is owned and operated by Tim Bruce; who leads a team of experienced and professional male and female service technicians. I have always been pleased with their excellent service which is why I have shared his business information on the Facebook group page for my HOA and via the NextDoor app.
We first met Tim Bruce in 2015, when we interviewed him and several other TRANE Certified HVAC companies to upgrade our builder installed Carrier HVAC system; which never evenly heated or cooled our home, during the almost 10 years that we had it. Throughout the past 8 years, we have always renewed our annual maintenance plan with Gen Air; which has saved us a lot money because: It includes our Spring & Autumn seasonal maintenance checkups; which helps to keep our TRANE HVAC System working at its best.
Chris was punctual, which is always the way. If there is a problem, I'm always made aware. Chris thoroughly checked my system. He gave me the results and explained everything. They do a great job.
Tech Christopher perform an Outstanding A/C service check at my home this morning. Besides informing me with details of what he was planning to do, he also explained other A/C factors to me. Christopher was the first technician that broke down my 5 ton unit to clean inside blades and inside of my A/C unit! Extremely thorough on his service and maintenance practices!
Friendly technician. Very responsive. Great communication in terms of letting me know when the technician was on the way. Been using them for years, from keeping my old unit running to installing and maintaining the new unit.

Tim Bruce, the owner, and one of his techs were at my house 90 min after I called them on a Sunday! AC was fixed very fast, it was just a capacitor on a 24-year old air conditioner.
Was recommended General AC so thought I'd give them a shot. First visit with Clara was great. Then she came for the second visit (summer maintenance) which included cleaning out the AC and checking the unit over. Clara mentioned some repairs that were needed and ultimately recommended a new unit due to the freon situation and it being an older until + the cost of the repairs wouldn't be cheap. I said that is a decision I could not make and if interested I could have Tim come out for a quote. A couple days after the maintenance I went out to the unit and there were still leaves in the outside grates. Called the office and Crystal said that they would get someone out there when I came back in to town. Fast forward a month later, call the office and Crystal changed her tune saying that the unit was clean and the leaves from the trees must have filled the grate since Clara had been there, that wasn't the case. I requested that Tim (owner) give me a call. I've had a few conversations with him in the past and he was pleasant to speak with. In one of our conversations I mentioned that I would need to speak with the homeowner about a new unit. (I'm not a renter but taking care of her home while out of town for an extended period of time) He agreed to have Clara come and clean out the AC (which should have been done the first time) and take a look at why the AC now was not cooling very well - when before it was cooling very well - for being low on freon it was doing great.
The day of the appointment Clara AND Tim showed up. Was not expecting that but that's fine. Tim goes through the numbers that the unit was showing, which Clara did not so it was helpful to actually see what was going on. Tim saw the leaves that were left in the unit and said they would take care of them and proceeded to recommend a freon leak check, add freon or look at replacing the unit. These are not cheap charges and I needed to speak with the owner because dropping $1k-$12k isn't chump change. At that point, Tim said that this is why they like to only do calls when the homeowner is available, which I understand but this was told to them in previous conversations so they shouldn't be surprised. I can make decisions for the HO and even if I was the HO I would need to think about it before moving forward - no other business in the time I've been taking care of the home has had an issue with this. HO or not a decision like that is not a light one to make and feeling pressured to make it on the spot is not okay, ever. Needless to say, they left and I still have the leaves in the unit and hopefully Clara tightened or put things back correctly after testing. So, services were paid for and never completed as promised. Proved to be like many of the other businesses working around SA. I'll be reporting them to the BBB since I paid for services that were never completed satisfactory.
Lastly, after reading the owners response from other negative reviews, that shows how unprofessional they are. I can't wait to hear how they blame me for the issues.
