    I need a trusted company to provide a second opinion on the status of a home ac system. John Gonzalez came out and assessed both units. He was thorough and provided great attention to detail in rooting out the problems. John was responsive over the phone and professional. He provided a detailed explanation of the issues found, estimates for repair, and compiled a thorough report showing such. Because of his dedication and experience, he saved us on a new home purchase. I would highly recommend strand brothers and John to anyone needing trusted hvac work done. A++++

    My A/C unit was not cooling effectively. The technician came on time and was polite. He looked at the Evaporator unit and informed me that the Evaporator unit had ice built up on it. The reason he diagnosed was that there was debris inside the coil which was restricting the passage of gas through the coil hence the unit was becoming super cooled and hence lots of condensation was happening. He said the whole Evaporator unit had to be changed. He told that the parts department would call and let me know of the price of replacement . The parts department later called and gave a quote of $3400.00 including labor and warranty. Then they gave me a date of two weeks to get it fixed.
    Anyway I got hold of another guy who came in and told me the evaporator unit was just fine and my unit was low on Freon. $285 was all that I had spent to get my A/C unit working again.
    I was expecting a better service from strand brothers.

    My AC unit and nest thermostat stopped working, so I called strand to fix it. A technician came out the same day.

    Upon inspecting the unit outside, the technician informed me that the fan motor was broken. He quoted me $1,000 for this repair, but he said the fix is temporary and can last for anywhere from 3 days to 3 months, depending on the level of the refrigerant in my unit. I didn’t feel comfortable with this option, because it is high risk at a high price point, and no guarantee that the fix would even last a week. The technician told me there was no additional information he could provide to build confidence in this option— to me, it does not seem like good business practice to charge customers $1,000 for a shot in the dark solution.

    Although my unit is older than 15 years, I never had issues with it until now, and the only component in need or repair was the fan motor (a repair that should cost $150-750 on average according to Forbes Home). I made it abundantly clear that I would prefer to repair the unit rather than fix it before committing to a new unit.

    The technician continued to strongly recommended I purchase a new system, and that he could install it tomorrow. He called a member of the sales team and within 30 minutes, the sales colleague came to my house to give me a quote for a new unit, totaling $18k for my 1800 sq.ft house ($2K of which included duct work). They insisted that it is quite standard for customers to proceed with next-day installations.

    I felt very pressured to make a same-day decision and opt for the most expensive solutions. I especially felt the strand employees were trying to upsell me to sign up for 10-year financing and the service plan. They did not seem happy when I said that I was going to get a quote for a second opinion. The strand technician questioned me by saying “well will the other technician have the tools needed to do the repair in his truck?” to push me into getting the repair done by the strand on the spot. After doing my own research, I was disappointed to learn that these standard repair/replacement quotes I received from the strand were double what the standard costs are for my area. Encouraging customers to make poorly informed decisions is not an effective and sustainable way to make a sale. I am not happy to have received this level of pushiness, and paying $80 to be told the fan motor was not working did not add any value or additional insight to the situation. He did not even take the top off the unit.

    I got it fixed the next day for $380 by another company.

    Samuel went above and beyond, not only to service my AC and water heater products, but to educate me on everything he did while he was in my home. He was extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable. He took the extra time and care to go into my tiny ceiling crawl space to check my duct work, as well as thoroughly clean my outdoor AC unit.
