Paid over $500 to not fix my issue.

I have 3 rooms towards the back of my house which don’t cool properly. I called “Texas Total Comfort Systems” to come out and provide an estimate. Adam stated that my lines were restricted (too small) and I don’t get enough air flow from the AC units. He recommended replacing the current 4” ducts to a larger size which would increase air flow to these 3 rooms and provide more AC. Quoted $525 “But if it doesn’t take ‘us’ that long we can knock some off the labor”.

$525 I thought is a lot but replacing the air ducts going to those rooms sounds like a bit of work and if that fixes my cooling issue, I guess that’s fair. I made the appointment for the following day at noon.

Adam ended up showing up around 3:45 PM. I did get calls prior to his scheduled show time to state he would be running late, no I huge issue as I didn’t have to be anywhere that afternoon. Adam shows up, by himself with about 1 section of 5 feet of duct which has a Y joint in it. He’s onsite for less than 1 hour and installs what has to at most cost $75 (generous estimate) worth of parts. When done he states that he was previously wrong about the size of ducts going to 2 of the rooms as he thought they were already 7” (they are 4”) and that just replacing this one section would increase the air flow to those rooms, it did not. Those rooms are completely unaffected. The 1st room does have slightly better airflow, but no where near enough to cool properly.

When stating this he said I should try it for a day as it would take time to equalize out. It’s been 2 days and it’s still hot as hell in there while the room next to it (not one of these 3) is very chilly from the AC. The total was $525.72, for 1 hour of work. I’m not sure how much quicker 1 guy could have done it to not charge as much on labor.

He did state if this didn’t fix my issue they could come out, reassess and perform more work, for which they would of course charge. I’m really not interested in paying more for them to come out and not fix my issue again.

So I’m in the same situation I was in before, over 500 bucks less and feeling taken advantage of. I do not recommend this company.

Ricky is probably One of the most honest and fair people in the business, a stark contrast to the one hit wonders that want to unnecessarily sell you a new system just because they think you don’t know any better.
What’s even better is he expects the same values in his employees.
So if you want to hire a service company that is going to take care of you and treat you right give them a call.

Called on a Sunday morning and Danny was at our house within an hour and had fixed the problem within 15 minutes. Can’t ask for anything better than that! Fantastic company with great people!

Quick and timely service. I left a message for them and they promptly called me back to schedule service. Technician was on time, courteous and professional. Great service.

4 ton system with gas heat installed this fall.

I won't say everything went perfect cause it didn't but how a company fixes a problem matters. Texas Total Comfort Systems took care of us and made sure everything was 100%. That is work ethic and integrity!
