When I first read the reviews, I dismissed Custom Aire. But a few weeks later after a different HVAC company botched the job, I was in a jam and called Custom Aire to come fix what the other company clearly didn't. The servicemen and salespeople were all very knowledgable and took the time to explain every step to me so that I could ensure I was making an informed decision. The tech arrived on time and had my unit fixed within the hour. When my parents' A/C unit was having issues shortly thereafter, I recommended Custom Aire. They take care of everything quickly and efficiently and don't rob you blind while they do it. Like most people, I don't write reviews when the work gets done right, as that's the expectation, but I am so pleased with their work, I had to share my overwhelmingly positive experience.
After shopping around for a company to replace our 20-year old HVAC system we went with Custom Aire based on price and the frequency with which we see their trucks in our Philly neighborhood. Our installation was done on time and with no hassles. Installer Joe and his helpers were polite, efficient and took care to keep our house as clean as possible during the job. Joe was especially helpful in explaining things we'd need to know about our new system.
When Carl, the owner was directly involved in operations years ago, the company was very good. Since handing off the lead to his son, in my opinion the company has taken a serious nose dive. I called them out for a estimate to repair a unit they installed about 8 years ago. Not only was I NOT told AFTER the tech checked the system out that a $100 service call was going to be charged, but the "tech" totally mis-diagnosed the problem saying I needed parts that didn't need replacement and wanted to charge me $1700 for a for replacing them! Their reliability with meeting the scheduled time is also horrible. I got another company to do the job ALOT cheaper.
I have a mixed review for Custom Aire. My first grade is ZERO stars!!! I made an appointment at the end of October for Monday 11/12 for between 10:30 -11:30 . I ran errands early to insure that I would be home by the appt. At 12:00 they still hadn't arrived so I called. Their customer service agent said the technician was completing up a job and that I was the next stop. At 1:30 I get a call from their service dept saying that they needed to cancel the appt. Needless to say I furious since I had wasted a whole day for this service appt. They rescheduled for that Thursday and completed the service work. The technician did a fine job and I would give him 4 stars. He arrived promptly, informed me what he was doing and completed the work. In summary, I was disappointed in the way Custom Aire handled the appt issue and believe they weren't being truthful to me when they had to cancel the appt. I believe they could have been handled it better so I didn't have to waste a whole day.
My dryer vent was completely blocked with lint. Custom-Aire came out the very next morning and freed up the blockage and did a thorough cleaning from the dryer to the outside vent. They cleaned up well and left everything in working order.
Horrible experience with one of their technicians named Jim. If he’s dispatched to your home, look out. He’s lazy, incompetent and rude. Better hope you get someone else. The girls in the office are friendly enough and accommodating with service requests. We had used them for years in the past without too many issues. My last experience was so awful it turned us away as customers.
We have used Custom-Aire since 2014. They have installed our air conditioner, heating & humidification system. We needed the thermostat replaced which was under warranty. We were never told that the warranty was for parts only. The WIFI was never set up properly before the technician left. Difficult since there is no manual. Because of their high prices & lack of professionalism, we will find another HVAC company.
They came on date and time made!! They were professional and very courteous!! The fellows were great with my dog. They Also help bring in my bottled water!! I highly recommend this company!!
I had the pleasure of speaking with Tommy, who is the manager of installation, he was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering any questions I had. I am moving forward with my new heater and am excited to be working with people who truly care. Also, when I called in the ladies who answered the phone were magnificent!
I had my ac serviced by Custom Aire for the first time today. I will say the technician arrived on time and explained what he would be doing. However, as a young and perhaps over zealous technician, I felt he over stated the condition of the unit, suggesting replacement even though the unit is functioning fine. He seemed to think I knew nothing about A/C systems and oversimplified his explanation of carious components. I also felt like he tried to "scare" me into adding items or replacing with comments like "there is a microbial growth in the unit - could be mold" and "the condenser is going to fail soon" and the capacitor needs to be replaced or the unit will stop working". I did have the capacitor replaced even though I wasn't convinced it needed to be. He did show me the old capacitor versus a new one which he described as "shiny" and yes, the old one was not "shiny" but I honestly didn't see significant corrosion on it either. So now I have a contract for them to inspect my heat system which is a boiler that was inspected last year and I am left to wonder what catastrophic issue will arise with that. Admittedly the units are over 10 years old but have been well maintained and lightly used. I would ask that Custom Aire send a technician with some more experience for that call.
