Hot water heater leaking without my knowledge. Laundry room flooded. Soonest appointment was 2 days later. Had to call a plumber who came in 3 hours and fixed the problem and cleaned up the mess. Save your money. There are other options if you want peace of mind

Terrible service from under-educated professionals that comes very late and doesn't cover much.
1- doesn't cover our boiler heating system because it is in zones (they don't work on zoned heating)
2- said they'd fix our stove. That was about a year and a half ago. They haven't come. I call for updates and they keep saying they'll come in a couple months.
3-they're scheduled out a full month to look at our AC unit. The people that come are googling the problem, to inform me what I already know and told them in the online form- there's a leak in the system. You guessed it- it's not covered either.

The most horrible customer service experience I ever had in my life!! The customer service representative including the managers are never on the same page! I have been trying to speak to a manager for the past 2 weeks about the charges that is on my bill that wasn't supposed to be there! And I'm still waiting! And it seems like the only time they find something wrong with your heater is whenever you are not on the Service Plus! I don't recommend it at all it's useless waste of money! You might just save your $50 that you give to this people every month to use when you need to repair whatever it is that you need to repair. Save you the headache of dealing with this people!!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend Home Service Plus. What used to be a good value is mostly obsolete in today's world. 9 times out of 10, when your appliance is acting up, there's a caveat in the HSP coverage that precludes you from being covered in that instance.

Example: The evap coil for my AC unit has failed. The AC no longer functions. The AC unit is not covered because the evap coil is not covered. They go hand-in-hand. They are part of a closed loop system, and it makes no sense that they would not be covered as a combination package. So HSP offered to recharge my system at the low low rate of 2x what every other contractor has estimated for me.

I had a similar experience with my furnace and HSP. They came out and told me the particular issue I was having was not covered, and that they could charge me a fee to fix it instead. I had the maximum level of repair coverage. It was a common failure and ultimately cost me a few hundred dollars to repair through another company.

I would recommend squirreling away the money you save by not having HSP into an emergency fund intended for home appliance repair. I've probably given HSP $1000s over the years. Haven't gotten a dime back.

I have been paying for Home Service Plus for years. They even replaced my furnace two to three years ago. On Thursday April 6, the furnace was no longer heating my house. Scheduled a technician for this morning, April 7, and they arrived in the scheduled window. My adult son was told the furnace was dirty. Still have no heat in the house. This did not fix the problem. The Technician must have had vacation scheduled starting at noon. Such gross incompetence.

Called HSP right away and was told that all technicians have been scheduled for today. This does not fix my heat problem.

I will be discontinuing HSP and signing up for another warranty program. Centerpoint doesn't deserve my money anymore. Recommend finding alternative appliance warranty services. I will not use them again.

Since there is no choice in service provider, Centerpoint is allowed to operate like a Monopoly. We were charged $3000 for a warranty replacement on a failed water heater. In what world is that OK? It's not like we can use the competition because they get to operate as a monopoly and screw whomever they choose. Pretty sure my address in in the United States of America.

Glad to have HSP as they’ve repaired many appliances in my home. Might take them more than one try but they don’t give up. Technicians are always hard workers.

The Home Service Plan and technicians are excellent. Top notch. However, you should not use Home Service Plus to purchase and install an appliance. They contract that out. And they don't properly vet the people they use. And when something goes wrong, you're screwed. They used River City Plumbing and they botched the job and refused to communicate with us. Ghosted. I had to pay a actual plumber to fix the problem for $600. He said it was the worst installation he'd seen and would be embarrassed if that was his work. Two parties makes for deniability when something goes wrong. Go to a reputable company and deal directly.

CenterPoint Energy is a bad company. One of their drivers hit me on my bicycle, and they're not compensating me fairly. The driver had a stop sign, and I did not. It was in the middle of the day. My bicycle was totaled, and they have refused to pay for a new one. I incurred additional commuting and parking costs as a result, also. Bad, bad company. Bad, bad people. Do not trust them.

We’ve had many good technicians fixing our appliances over the years but the technician who came today is exceptional. He is Tim 6312. Not only fixing our dryer, he cleaned the much needed 30 year old dryer (even though we have it serviced yearly) and also replaced some very old parts that soon will be broken. We are grateful to have someone who is that conscientious working for CenterPoint Energy. Thanks very much Tim!
