We are long time customers of Griffith with an oil fired furnace and water heater. We have a service contract with them to come and maintain the furnace twice a year. Recently the AC connected to the furnace leaked all it's coolant and quit working. I got an estimate for replacing the AC and the salesman recommended replacing the furnace as it was old and we could save a lot by replacing them both at the same time. When the installation crew installed the new equipment they totally botched the job.
1. They didn't connect the flue vent on the side with the chimney, just left it open. If we had happened to turn on the furnace the house would have filled with Carbon Monoxide and caused a very dangerous situation.
2. They wired the unit incorrectly so that the fan was not blowing at the correct speed when the AC was on.
3. They failed to install a "Blocked Vent Shut-off" safety switch on the flue, probably because, well, they didn't install the flue in the first place.
4. They didn't turn the oil valve back on at the tank, we found that out when the water heater wouldn't work. Error number 4 probably saved them from us possibly gassing ourselves due to error 1.
5. The access door to the blower to the new furnace is badly bashed in.
6. The crew just up and left; didn't tell us they were leaving, didn't tell us they needed to come back and fix the flue or turn on the oil, didn't warn us that we shouldn't use the furnace, etc.
I'm pretty sure the original crew were subcontractors. Since all of this happened Griffith personnel have had to return to the house 4 times to finish the job and to try to get the water heater to work properly. Steve the installation manager made the repairs and was very prompt, pleasant and knowledgeable. However our water heater triggers it's circuit breaker on a regular basis now (every other day) leaving us without hot water. I know it is old and needs replacing. I asked Griffith for an estimate on replacing it. I also have asked to speak to the Service Manager (Dave N.) and left several messages over the last week for him to call me to talk about some sort of break on the water heater price after all that's happened, but no response. The new HVAC as not cheap and the new water heater won't be either. I'm considering using another vendor for the new water heater. I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because Steve, the other service guys that come to the house and the ladies on the phone are prompt and professional.

We have been customers of Griffith for 20 years. We purchased a plan that enables us to have an annual 'physical' of our furnace, automatic oil delivery and because we purchased our new furnace through Griffith, free service calls when there are issues. When I call them, I get a real person which I appreciate as a basic customer service. Recently, we had a fuel oil smell that was overwhelming. I called before 9 am and by 2 pm a Griffith person was here and the problem was fixed. The Griffith technician explained to us what the problem was, what he did to fix it, and what we should look for if other issues arise. The whole episode was handled within 6 hours. I have found Griffith to be a knowledgeable company with staff who have expertise in heating and who focus on customer service.. I highly recommend them.

No Rhyme_ Or Reason

This company has gone down hill ... bought a new HVAC & hot water heater from them 15-years, ago ... needed a new hot water heater ... saw a small water puddle on the unfinished basement floor beneath the valve and had concern about the basement getting flooded. Guy came out, as scheduled, then told me I needed to contacted some one else in the office for scheduling the purchase and installation ... left 3 messages 3 different times and no one returned my call ... lousy service for a return customer ... used BGE Home, instead, for first time; they were great!

After Griffith read our review, then they contacted us with an email address identifying their company point-of-contact. They claim there was a breakdown in communication. Leaving 3 voicemail messages {(2 of which were conveyed to a company person who transferred us to another contact)} and getting no response from this company to a consumer concerned about a hot water heater that could leak at any time is much more than a breakdown in communication, it shows a lack of respect of our time as a consumer, a lack of concern about a likely problem and POOR SERVICE, plain and simple.

Michelle B. HAS to be the BEST person to work with when getting an issue resolved. Here's the story.

I bought my first home and just moved in at the end of November with very little experience in dealing with baseboard heating. Naturally, my tank ran out of oil the end of last week and I didn't have any other way to heat the house other than a couple of small plug-in space heaters. Michelle took my first and last call, along with many in between. When I explained my situation to her, she apologized for the inconvenience and gave me a ton of tips in regards to my heating situation. Since my lack of heat from Friday up until Tuesday, she called every day to check in and make sure that I had an account with my home, that I signed a price protection agreement on time, to make sure the service technician came to initially check out the situation with snow on the way, AND just to check on me FIRST THING Wednesday morning to see if I had heat in my home at the end of this whole mess. After a little assistance and a truck full of oil, I was able to prime and start my furnace by myself - what?! I'm a technician of sorts, but I'm no expert when it comes to heating systems and the like.

I have never had anyone at any service corporation of any kind go out of their way to check on me and help me through my situation the way Michelle did. I'm proud to say that Griffith will be my energy service company for as long as I have my house. Thank you SOOOO much, Michelle!!

Super pleased. Lee Smith arrived on time, did a thorough annual service of my heat pump, and was very neat. He's serviced my HVAC systems before and has always done a terrific job. Griffith is fortunate to have staff like Lee.

Our technician Michael Ojei came out tonight to our house and got our furnace going again. It's been down for 2 days. He was prompt, courteous and very technical. Within a short time he was able to start our furnace again. Your company should be proud to have Michael as an employee.

If I could give zero stars I doggone would. We scheduled an appointment with Griffith for 8-11 am for new service and a water heater. I ended up having to take the day off at a personal cost of over $200 because they never showed. My wife called twice and got the run around. I then called and had to talk to four people before being transferred to someone to find the “technician”. I was then sent to voicemail while on hold for 20 minutes. Doggone unreliable.

Michael Ojei was our service technician today, Tue. 3/12/19. Michael was very Polite, Friendly, & Professional. He did his job very well. He was quick, efficient, and on time.
He left the work area clean and neat when he was finished. No mess. Michael is an excellent asset to your business !

We have used Griffith Energy Services for 14 or 15 years now (chosen merely because we had a dog of almost the same name - Griffin.) Fortunately, it was a wise choice. There are very responsive if there is a problem with your furnace and they seem to magically know when you're getting low on oil. They will also set up a payment plan so that you're not socked with huge oil bills in the winter months. Finally, they can get you into your own private day (with other Griffith customers) at Hershey Park for a much lower amount. Definitely recommend them!
