The good is that they were able to hook me up with a better mini split unit than I originally had paid for. The work they did was ultimately good, especially the cosmetic patch work inside our home. The bad was a lack of communication in terms of clearly understanding the needs of our job. We were told it would take a day but due to this misunderstanding of the units placement outside it was going to take an additional day. Mike, the owner I assume, even came to our home and assured us it would be done the next day, which was a Friday. Yet the electrician never showed and the job was delayed again. But no one ever told me why it was delayed, gave me a simple explanation or even told me when they would return to finish the job. I didn’t hear anything until Monday, when I was told the job wouldn’t be done until the next day, making the job last 6 days total. I expressed my unhappiness with this and asked if Mike could call me so I could speak to him. He never ever called me, not that day nor the next nor when the job was completed. Also the next day the workers were in my basement installing the electrical and they left my door open for hours. Dozens of flys invaded my house because of it. It was really not a good experience. I had to pay for the entire job up front, months in advance. It felt like they had my money, I wasn’t probably in the range of money spent of their typical, suburban customers, so just don’t worry about if they are happy customers or not. Yeah, like I said, not the best experience.

Mike at ServiceMax came out on a Saturday afternoon on short notice to assess problems with our old AC unit. He explained why my 25+ year old system needed replacing and I quickly decided to go with him since his company did a great job replacing our old furnace about 4 years ago. On installation day, his crew was on time, and worked the entire day to have the system up and running by late afternoon, including replacing my old thermostats with a Google Nest, which has really made a difference in terms of convenience. We were very pleased with Mike’s responsiveness and the friendly service we received from the installers and from Jose in the home office who helped with the scheduling and payment. Very professional at all levels. Thank you!

Professional, All good but to pricy for someone to come out and detect the problem. Maybe a discount for long time clients and senior discounts like me who is on limited budget.
Also only accepting credit cards. I used my debit card previously and had no problem. I realize everything has gone up but please be considerate and have a heart 💜

Mike was very responsive and professional.

We suddenly had no heat on a cold February Friday night. We called first thing Saturday morning and he arrived within two hours. Diagnosed the problem, drove 2 1/2 hours to get the part and we had heat by mid-afternoon on Saturday.

Service Max SKOKIE is now our go-to for any service Mike's company provides. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We called because our air conditioner compressor was not working. They responded quickly to replace the capacitor and cleaned the coils. This service call took half an hour. However, based on the preliminary bill estimate the charges for these services are outrageous. 119$ for the service call, approximately $150 for a $25 capacitor installed and $350 to spend 15 minutes hosing down the AC coils. Total bill over $600. Will not be calling this company again.

Quality has always been good but this was the second time in the last 6 months that they cancelled a full-day installation job during the arrival window. And they had to come back the next day once I noticed a vent was loose after they left. Quality and products are great but seem to have some staffing and scheduling issues recently.

Regular service options are at a reasonable cost. They checked everything!

Great company! I have been using them for many years and they have always done a fantastic job. The owner Mike is always available...I've had a few late night or Sunday emergencies over the years and he never fails to get back to me immediately and fix or replace what's needed in a hurray. Honest and dependable! Highly recommend!

    Extremely poor communication, several no-call/no-shows.

I had Servicemax replace the hot water heater for my heated floor, re-run some ducts and install an Energy Recovery Ventilator.

The final outcome is satisfactory- everything works as expected so far, the job site was cleaned in the end and the exterior protrusions they had to create are sealed against the weather.

Getting here, however, has been very unpleasant. I understand that supply chains are in bad shape right now and wasn't surprised when it took two months for the water heater and ERV unit to arrive.

I was, however, very surprised and annoyed when the tech arrived 2 hours late on the first day, did one day of work, then disappeared the rest of the week, leaving most of the job undone.

He did not call and did not arrive as scheduled the second day, and I had to reach out to Servicemax myself to get back on their schedule. A week later, he came back out, again 2 hours after the arrival window, did part of a day of work, then disappeared again. No-call, no-show the next day as well, and, again, I had to set up the next appointment myself with Servicemax, they did not call me. They also left dust all over my mechanical room and basement from cutting through my exterior brick wall.

The tech came out a third day, made some solid progress, but then decided my ERV needed a combined intake/output, which I disagree with, do not like, and which wasn't in the original design, but it saves a hole in my wall and I hope I'll still get acceptable performance. However, this lead to another month delay while they sourced the part, and, again, I had to call them to get on their schedule, they did not call me.

One last time, the tech is scheduled for Monday 8-10 arrival, does not call, does not show. I call Servicemax, they promise to get him out in the afternoon, which did not happen. I sent several emails during the week, got no response. Then, Friday at 7:30AM, they call me and ask if the tech can come at 8. Sure, I've got nothing but time for y'all.

He shows up at 10, gets the job done. I cut the down payment check at the beginning of June, it's September now.

There are very few groups in Chicago that install ERVs, so pickings are slim, but I would avoid this one, in the hopes of saving some significant frustration.
