Technician got thermostat operating again, changed out a filter, and replaced some freon in the condenser. The thermostat just needed to be reset. The tech evidently has an amazing memory.Remembered where the thermostat was located from a prior visit in 2015.
The week leading up to Christmas 2022 was one for the history books. Record cold temperatures were all over the country and only expected to get colder. I was notified that my grandfather who had just recently had a new system installed by another company back in September was not working and he had been without heat/air for over a week. Mind you the temperatures were dropping quickly. I called O'Callaghan's on Thursday, December 22 around lunch time and by 4:30pm that afternoon a tech arrived to begin the service call. Wally Smith was our tech and he was nothing shy of amazing. We began to explain the situation to him about how the unit was installed in September and how it has not worked correctly since the install. The previous company would send someone out, they would look at the unit, change the fuse and then leave. Thirty minutes after the previous company would leave, the unit would stop working. The previous company was "diagnosing" and guessing as to what is wrong with the unit. They then tried to tell my grandfather that it was a wiring issue and would be between $800-1000 minimum and they couldn't be out until the following week mid-week. Mind you the temperatures were slotted to be in the single digits the next morning. Wally jumped into action. He began troubleshooting the unit and determined that there was a short in one of the lines that lead to the defrost causing the unit to trip. Wally stayed for an extra 30 minutes to watch the unit and gather data off the unit to put in his report. When everything was completed, Wally provided a thorough explanation as to his findings and what was done to correct the issues. What happened next was just the icing on the cake. I received a text message from Wally checking in on my grandfather and making sure the unit was still performing as designed. He didn't have to do this but this personal touch went along way to myself and to my grandfather. Professional, Polite, attention to detail, thorough, trustworthy and many other words can be used to describe Wally and the service he provided. Thank you O'Callaghan and thank you Wally for everything you did to resolve a 3 month ongoing issue.
