Worst company ever. they did a horrible job on the duct work above the air handler. First it was mold and $2400 bucks for UV lights, next it was extreme mold and a $4000.00 unit was needed. Had another company come in to do the maintenance. They said it was the worst installation they have seen, and guess what? they didnt see any mold, only the duct work job was horrible. Now I have to pay out of pocket. Thanks Cox. I would give zero stars if possible
I used this company for an ac tune up. The technician, Brian, was professional and courteous, and the company was easy to work with. I was able to get an appointment quickly and received a phone call the day before my appointment to confirm a time, as well as another call when the technician was on his way. Highly recommend them!!
Had this company for regular maintenance for about 2 years. On the last and final service call for maintenance, the technician told me that there was a hole in the AC. He said the plenum was ripped and needed to be re-inserted in to the intake and sealed and that he would call his manager to get a price. I was told it would be $895. I told him I had a warranty company and would call in a ticket - another company responded that same day - went up in the attic, went back to their truck and got a roll of tape - went back in the attic and taped the rip. He told me that the rip appeared to him like someone used their thumb to cut it open. He said it's exactly what he would do if he had to get a picture of the coils inside, and then simply re-seal it. I told him what the other company (Cox) wanted to charge - he asked me, "They want 900 bucks for some tape?" - he told me that his company would charge $850 if I wanted all the joints sealed in mastic, but simply taping the rip of the plenum was quick and easy. Cox also wanted to charge me $399 for an acid bath and $150 for fog treatment - all the while not removing any of the dead leaves in the condenser unit. If things are that dirty and bad, why aren't you cleaning them while you're there for, you know, maintenance? He also wanted me to install a 2nd float switch for $225 and said it needed it immediately (and while that is not a bad idea, it certainly isn't required as he made it sound). Spoke to the manager, Angela, who seemed very dismissive and said she would talk to him about it, but never addressed my request to reimburse me the $45 I had to pay for a service call to get another company to come and tape it up. She told me that it needed much more than that. I told her that I definitely would not be renewing my service contract and that while she's telling me she will "have a talk" with the service technician, she didn't sound like she gave a $#!+ about the complaint. Her tone from the beginning of the call was a good indication of her attitude. This used to be a good company. It seems the turnover has changed that.
Update for response to company reply: You will notice they still haven't mentioned anything about reimbursement for the $45 I spent to have another company respond and tape up what they suspect may have been done by the Cox technician. The manager, Angela, never mentioned anything about making it right or sending anyone out, just that she'll talk to the guy. Whoop-de-doo.
Beware of Cox Building services in Port Richey, Florida. Everything you have read about this company is true. Unfortunately I didn’t believe that a company could actually be doing this to customers. They convinced me that it just was a few disappointed customers. Don’t believe it. All their reviewers we’re not kidding. Read all the reviews you can on Cox Building Services of Port Richey, Florida. I didn’t. I had them install my New A/C unit, because they took Seabees a/c accounts and that company installed the old a/c and ductwork. Next, I called and asked them to check and repair any ducts. That I had pictures of. They repaired a small spot in my duct work, that wasn’t in the picture and said they repaired everything, but didn’t. I’m trusting. So by doing that repair, I believe the technicians created even a bigger problem. Now 1/3 of my house doesn’t have air flow through other area vents that had airflow through them before I called. Along with the original problem. And They left with out checking the vents in the house! To see if it’s repaired or not. What a/c company does that? COX Building Services of Port Richey does, and then wanted their service call fee. When I called back with the same problem, after realizing it wasn’t fixed, they said they would have to charge me another service call. So They want to charge me more service calls to fix what I believe this same problem, plus what they created. That’s their MO. I believe They sent inexperienced helpers to do a/c related repairs. No communication when you ask for the owner. His name is Angel Cabrera I believe. Jimmy the service manager. Believe it or not, I think her name is Angie, She informed me that they have lawyers if I posted something on the net. A desperate attempt to hide their incompetence in the HVAC industry. Just beware of COX BUILDING SERVICES of Port Richey, Florida.
Was on time and he was quick and neat. The only issue was we have a leak in system but no dye test was done to find it so no Freon was add. So we have NO HEAT and it is cold. Thank God I have a fire place.
In October my air conditioner went out I was only in Florida for a few weeks so I needed to replace it quickly. Cox came and gave me a price of 6,590 so I purchased again short on time the Installers came and installed it used all of the old stuff didn’t even hook it up properly to the house it was wide open we called them and they did come and fix everything that was wrong. At that point I went home and returned to fl in dec the air or the heat we’re not working they sent a tech and he came in and said that the thermostat wires were crossed and assured me that was the problem and it was fixed the next freezing cold day here in Florida the heat again would not come on I called them back and they said they needed to turn the motor up from the factory setting to make the heat work which they did every month my electric bill was 250. My husband was not here so why was my bill so high well we found out that the air conditioner Valve was not hooked up and hadn’t been so we were air conditioning and heating under the house.we again called them it took three days before they came and than another three days before they came and claimed that it is repaired the owner told us that he was going to come over to talk to us he did not show up he will not return our calls nor has he came to our home like he indicated he would. This company is terrible they should Reimburse us for the cost of our electric bill is just awful that they would treat senior citizens like this
We had a nightmare experience with CHOICE WARRENTY. Can’t praise Cox enough for there help with trying to work with Choice, but to no avail!! Jimmy was absolutely the most helpful person I know!!! He helped us get our heat going again, after canceling the warranty with Choice!!
We can’t thank him enough. Patients, professional, on time , can’t say enough! The girls in the office were so helpful too ! Thanks Cheryl for your help! Sincerely Karen Strain
Beware Beware this company is a rip off. They came out to check on a problem with the AC. They drew up a bill of $4500 dollars. It seemed phishy because the system is only six yrs old. Called Antartica Air in Lecanto Florida for a second opinion. They ruled out that is was a bad fan motor. Part arrived in a day. It ended up costing $285 with labor. Thank you Antartica Air for saving our day. You are to be commended for your honesty!!!
I want to recommend this company that installed a new air conditioning unit in my home in The Villages Florida April of 2020. All of their employees from office staff Angelica & Cheryl to service manager Jimmy and techs Paul, Tyler, Matt & Ernie were GREAT!! I would like to Thank them here officially. B Hale
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! From a routine service call , before any work was done on my AC system , the tech stated I needed a UV Sanitation System because I had mold . Without proving that to me with photos as my air handler is hung up high from the ceiling . While he was not disrespectful, he was unrelenting ( high pressure in a passive way ) . When I said no , he just kept on , saying this effected our health and we needed to get it . When I asked about cost , he states $1495 . I was shocked at the price . When I tried to find information on Cox Building Services, I couldn’t find anything online - did find their website with zero reviews at the time (6/5/19)which I found odd as I was told they had been in business for 15 years. My original svc agreement which brought him out to my house was with Sea Bee Heating AC that per Angelica at the main office in Port Richey had been taken over by Cox Building Services. While she said this had just happened about a month before I called . She convinced me to have the svc. call , since it was the same employees and owned by Angel who seemed very nice when he originally came to my house 6 months prior and sold me a twice per year service agreement- who I was unaware was the operation Mgr for Sea Bee AC . My call in June , 2019 was to set up my second service call , which I did with the new company- Cox Building Services . I reluctantly said yes to have the UV Sanitation system installed but told the tech , “ please tell me I won’t find this for a forth the price from another company “ . He stated “ no way , well maybe slightly lower because this is top of line product “. When I went to sign the invoice , it stated installed UV Sanitation System - no model number or brand ,1 yr warranty . When I questioned that , the tech said nothing. A survey right above signature line -odd. I realized they were making me initial things that if I came back at the co. in any way and complained about anything- they could simply say well you agreed to everything. Which is exactly what they did - felt very intimidated by tech. When I stated to the tech , I’m not filling this out - he stated “it is required and he will get in trouble if you don’t “. I started to check the boxes and he said - no you have to initial each line . 1 - was the rep clean in appearance. 2. Was he helpful in answering all my questions. 3. Was svc. performed in professional manner . 4 Did the rep fully explain Services performed in professional non - pressuring manner. 5 .Was work area left neat / cleaned . 6. Would you recommend to friends, relatives , neighbors? 7. Overall how would you rate value you received from Cox Building Services. I have bought many many products in my lifetime but never was required to complete a “ survey “ like this with the rep leaning right over my shoulder watching everything I was doing . I was uncomfortable and felt VERY VERY intimidated as he was being evaluated by me while looked over my shoulder about 5 inches from my face . I had already given him my cc # and signed the bottom when he said i had to complete the survey . It is obvious in hindsight that questions 4, 6 and 7 were deliberately worded so that if I complained about price or or feeling “ pressured “ I had initialed I had not and that I felt the price was fair . How can anyone on the spot know if it is a fair price unless they are in the AC business ? After he left , I did research what he installed I was shocked to find the average price for this system is $300-$500 . Certainly not $1495 ! I then called several other AC cos’ including one that installed a whole new system in my last house . I was told most companies do not install them . Theirs would be between $300-400 depending on # - bulbs , I had 1. I reached out 4- 5 times to owner- Angel unsuccessfully and have no brand or model info . Was shocked to see BBB complaints on the internet . I have tried unsuccessfully to understand why I was charged so much for an unbranded product with a 1 yr warranty when name brands are 10. 2nd review I written. They first one down.
