I have lived in my new built home for 14 months & my unit has given out over 10x. Technicians come out & days later it’s broken again.

I wanted to share a mixed but honest review on American Heating & Cooling.

Pros:
-They fit me in for a next day visit to see what was happening with my heater
-The tech they sent seemed competent and determined what the issue was (but had to order a part)

Cons:
-I paid $84 for the initial visit to evaluate what was happening. No receipt or e-receipt provided
-They said they would order a part and contact me back to schedule a follow-up visit
-I never received any information around how much the part/repair would cost (in addition to the initial $84) for the follow-up visit
-I finally called and they verbally gave me a price (an additional $600), but would not break down for me how much the part cost vs the labor, etc. (again, no written quote similar to them not providing an invoice during that initial visit)
-I asked them for the Part No. they were ordering and they said they didn't have it (then how are you ordering me something that you don't know what it is?)

Fast forward, I do my own research and find the part that is faulty. The cost of the part is $62 and takes ~1 hour or less to install. So American Heating and Cooling wants me to pay ~$682 for a $62 replacement part, with the other ~$600 being billed as labor. Seems excessive for ~1 hour of their time....

I call around for a second opinion, and find a certified heating and cooling company that agrees to do the same job for $150 plus the cost of the part, $62. A fraction of the cost.

I have a 10 year old unit, so why would I throw close to $700 for a simple repair, knowing I may have to buy a new unit in the next couple of years?

I get that American Heating and Cooling is out to make money, but in my opinion there is a balance between taking advantage of a customer who has no heat, and finding a middle ground to have some mark-up, but not 300-400% above the going rate.

I just called and was hung up on. If I was the owner I would be irate. That is your paid position to direct calls and at the very least conduct yourself professionally. I hope the owner reads this because the women answering your phones is rude and the reason I am writing this.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. We built a new home less than 1 year ago and purchased a huge hvac system from them. They’ve been out here about 10- 12 times to fix issues - during summer and winter time. They can’t get it fixed. This unit is worthless and most of the staff who supposedly are fixing the issues are too. We’ve wasted time and money with these people. I wished we would have went with another company for our hvac needs. It’s cold outside, we have an elderly parent living with us and our units won’t work- and we’re told there’s “nothing they can do.” Unacceptable!!!!

Creek (Charles) came to our new home on Saturday to fix a brand new system. He troubleshooted until he found the reason the heat was on instead of the cooling, ultimately rewiring the thermostat to bypass a faulty wire. He was professional, kind, clean, and stayed at the house until we could meet him. What an asset to this company!!

Great experience as always! Brian, provided a wonderful and very reasonable quote to replace two systems.

AC unit was not cooling this morning at my home. I called America Heating and Cooling about 8:30am, they answered and were very nice and friendly on the call, they scheduled a technician with an open time window. By 9:55am the technician was here, by 10:30am my unit was cooling again. The technician was very nice, explained exactly what the issue was and was on his way. Great service and super fast!!

They are not responsive, I have water leaking from air vent in master bed room (in a brand new home), I have called them two months ago, they said someone would come and fix it. None showed up. I called them again and again, every time they are saying someone will call me to take care of it. I have called them 4-5 times already. Worst Company to have business with.

We had something wrong with our HVAC. Matt came out and figured out the problem and figured out a temporary solution so we could still get AC on 90 degree days while the part came in! We loved Matt and his great personality and hard work! He came back out today and fixed the unit and it’s cooling perfectly! We will definitely ask for Matt next time! He’s really the nicest guy and goes the extra mile to make sure thing things are right. I definitely trust him!

Matt was the best HVAC tech you could ever have! He was knowledgeable and extremely personable. He went above and beyond to make sure our unit was fixed. He even volunteered to come out on a Saturday to make sure the work was done quickly. I would highly recommend American Heating and Cooling.
