Summary: If you're reading this, call Eric at AC Medic Heating and Air Conditioning. He's honest, fair, and won't offer you stuff you just don't need.

My Story: My 3 year old ComfortMaker Heat Pump system sounded like a impact drill/driver, a very loud banging noise. I contacted the installer, who said they were closed. I contacted a ComfortMaker "Elite" service provider twice, who never returned my calls. I called W_ lldr _ p" who came out that afternoon. I paid their service call fee up front. They tested everything. Repair estimate for the AC Heat Pump was $4900 with no guarantees. The next day, I listened to a presentation for a total system replacement and got slammed by they're sticker shock "bare-bones" $12,000 system, to the "all the bells and whistles" $29,000 system. I then called AC Medic. Eric told me he installs nothing but Trane, 100% American-made. I researched Trane. Yep, TX-based. Eric came out, evaluated the whole situation, laid everything on the table, my options, etc, and we settled on a SEER 14-rated system for a lot less than the $12,000 quote. Estimated install - 10 days. I said, "Let's do it". A couple days later, Eric calls. How about next Tuesday? That's 3 days sooner. They replaced the major components, plus the Heat Pump Breaker Box, cleaned all conduits, pressure tested all Hi and Lo pressure lines bringing everything up to Trane specifications, tested both AC and Heat delivery, and registered everything online with Trane. And the staff cleaned up everything to the point you would not know they were even here.

Today, the AC delivery is cooler, the heat delivery is warmer, the system is barely audible, and it runs fewer hours per day.

I have used this ac repair company for several years in 2 different houses! They are awesome and really relate to their customers on a financial level! They offer different options for problems and let the customer choose what is more appropriate for their financial means! They are honest with their customers and show the customer specifically what is the problem with their ac unit. This is something I look for in an ac repair man.

Charged over $500 to put Freon in one unit and to install a new thermostat that I provided. I thought that was high.
He did a good job installing the thermostat. He left the caps off the Freon ports on the unit after filling with Freon.
He made it clear he does not like Lennox HVAC systems.

I was a homeowner in Inman for 20 years. AC/Medic was the first contact I made when I needed A/C work. Eric was my service man for the entire 20 years in Inman. He bases his work practices on his Christian principles and life. Honest and dependable. If I were to move back to the Upstate, AC/Medic would be my heating and air service provider.

AC Medic cost me thousands of dollars in damage. I chose them because I'd used them before but they had a change of ownership. In 2018, my HVAC unit needed to be replaced. They sold me a unit that was too big for my home. They installed the new unit on the existing pad which was too small so it hung over. They came back and put in a larger pad so there was no overhang. Then the house temperature was not meeting the temperature set on the thermostat. They replaced my Ecobee WIFI enabled thermostat with a thermostat that was less advanced than the one the Ecobee replaced. About 18-24 months later, mold started to grow out of every vent register in the house. Come to find out, there were two openings in the duct work under the house. It seems that when AC Medic installed the HVAC unit they knocked the duct work loose. So apparently, they never looked at the ducts under the house or didn't care. I had to have all of the duct work under the house replaced along with the vent registers. I also had to replace all of the carpeting. It cost approximately $10,000 to fix the damage they caused on top of buying an oversized HVAC unit and an unnecessary basic thermostat.
