Woke up this AM and the heat shut off at some point overnight. It was 59F in our upstairs bedroom. I contacted O’Brien and someone was at my house 30 minutes later. They diagnosed the problem, returned shortly thereafter with the new gas valve and RTD, and we were up and running with heat before lunch. Rare that I see this level of customer service anymore! Thank you Team O’Brien! You have earned our future business and I will gladly refer you to others when asked.
Technician came to our house as scheduled. Very friendly but didn't seem too familiar with steam systems. Suggested we needed our radiator fixed or replaced and would get back to us with a quote. A week later still no quotes or communication from Obrien. Our neigabor suggested a different company that came out and figured out our problem. The problem was the boiler had too much water in the system. Within 1 hour the problem was fixed and the cost was much cheaper.
For a company that's been in heating for 65 years we are unimpressed with Obrien Heating.
This is an "OK" company for HVAC needs however, they are always trying to sell something you don't really need like a Power Conditioner for your HVAC which is priced like an entire house system. . Also they manage to place their stickers on everything that they could make money on. They are relentless in pursuing your business to being slightly obnoxious. if they offer you a finance package - but you have the cash, better to negotiate a MUCH better deal. Do you homework , proceed with caution and they will do good work.
My initial meeting and reaction is that this is a company who I would like to do business with based on their early arrival, professionalism, knowledge and assessment of my HVAC system.
The technician Paul Browne was the most polite, knowledgeable and informative service person I have ever met. He has outstanding communication skills and explained everything to me in a way that i understood. He explained how to use my thermostat in a way that was so very much clearer tan the instruction booklet. He made some recommendations for some additional features to purchase and I am considering doing so because I believe he is knowledgeable and trustworthy. Hire more like him!!!
O'Brien really helped me out when my tenant lost heat on the second floor. The tech on emergency duty came out and fixed the problem for a reasonable price. And this happened on our first really cold week in November. Very grateful
