We had two of the high-end Carrier heat&AC units installed. The systems themselves have worked fine. But there were a number of installation problems. These systems release a lot of water when heating, and the drain from the attic system was not insulated, so it froze twice last winter and shut down. The system in the garage has shut off several times mysteriously. Finally technician Christian discovered that the way the air inlet was oriented, a high wind would blow into the furnace and shut it off. Christian has proven to be a great service person.
Columbia H&C did a great job when replacing our Furnace and AC located in the attic and then provided a great recommendation for adding AC to the furnace in the basement which controls the other two floors in our home. I was also very please with the relocation of the heat exchange units from the back of the house to the side of the house. we can now enjoy our lower patio in the summer. Columbia H&C was very professional , On time and on Budget. No surprises. I would definitely recommend Columbia H & C to any homeowner who is looking for a new heating and cooling system.
I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Their bid was good, their installation and product was fantastic and we are very happy with our new furnace, AC, and duct work. We liked them so much we even hired them a second time to add an air purifier system.
Our furnace died during very cold weather . I called four different companies for quotes . Columbia heating and cooling came right out and gave us a comparable quote to others and also had financing available. The day that the install was scheduled I assumed they wouldn’t come because our area got hit with snow and ice . But to my surprise they arrived that morning and completed the install in the freezing cold ! From start to finish we had nothing but good service from Columbia. I would highly recommend them .
Columbia installed a Carrier two ton high efficiency ducted heat pump system in our vacation home. Columbia's price was competitive, the work was performed in a professional and on-time manner. They answered all of my questions pre-purchase and post-installation. The sales person was extremely knowledgeable and responsive. Their installation and support exceeded my expectations. I have dealt with three other HVAC companies in the past for furnace and heat pump installations at our other home AND Columbia was the BEST HVAC company I have ever dealt with!! I highly recommend them based on their price, support and installation. You can't go wrong!
Third update 05/17/2023: On Friday their supervisor finally reached out. Was told Friday that they would review my file and I would get a call Monday. On Monday... no call. Tuesday... no call. Wednesday I finally called in and asked for an update; I was told they were just looking at my file and would need to get back to me. After review, they are taking no accountability that the original work could have caused the issue. Even though their tech said it could be caused from their work. Now I am out over $2,116.50 and they do not care, because at the end of the day they swiped my card charging me full price without reviewing everything. I was finally offered an hour of labor back, but since I was quoted 2 hours of labor and charged 5 hours I will be filing an official complaint against their license. I should not be charged for their mistakes, I wanted to find a common ground, but they are taking no personal ownership and they lack integrity.
Second update: I was able to get a hold of someone in the office. I explained what was going on and she stated she could get someone out in the area the next day. The tech explained to me that a part had failed, but since they did not technically touch that part, it would be at my cost to repair. When I asked how the part could have failed, it was mentioned to me it could have been because of the way they sealed it, but they could not prove that. So now I am out another $275 for the inspection and "emergency visit." When the part comes in, I will also be out an additional $704 for the installation. Totaling $2,116.50 for them to seal, unplug, reseal, and break other parts. I would highly recommend using another company for ANY services they provide.
Update: first hot day of the year and our less than 2 year old A/C doesn’t blow cold… shocking. My guess? A leak in the king valve that they caused… so no cold air. Called the company and of course they do not offer after hour care. It’s 1 am and 80 degrees in my house. So glad we went with this company, caused more damage than good.
Original: We called Columbia heating and cooling to have our HVAC system disconnected for our backyard to be paved. The first visit was 45 minutes to disconnect and seal the system. On their return visit they were there for a handful of hours just to come to my door and tell us that our newer system (1yr 6months old) system had a leak. They stated they would have to come back and see if it was either a king valve line or if it was something greater. It was hinted that the repair would be at our cost even though we were not the ones that disconnected the system. During this time, I was stressed because for this work we were already being charged over $1,137.50 dollars at the time... yes, that is right... for disconnecting and reconnecting a system that was already working beforehand cost us over $1,100. On their last visit it was discovered that the equipment they used to test for leaks was faulty, not our system. So in the end we were charged for our HVAC system to be unplugged and reconnected... I would not recommend this business to anyone. I get labor rates are high, but to be charged a mortgage payment for work that caused more stress than it should have.
Steve and his team are very professional, from the initial phone call to the quote to installation. Steve stayed on top of the entire process, kept us informed and got the job done perfectly This is the second time we have used Columbia and have another project for next year. Thank you very much to the Columbia Heating and Cooling Team.
Super company to work with from working with Marlena in the estimation process to the installation with Jake and Sai. These guys had an excellent process and they were very pleasant to work with. They had support in the electrical side from Bear Electric folks and they were also very nice to work with. I would give these guys a tremendous recomendation.
I have used Columbia Heating and Cooling, to install Heat Pumps in both of my houses. My first house, it was an amazing experience, great value, and loved the product. In my new house, my wife and I contacted them again to install a heat pump in our master bedroom. This experience was positive, but not as great as the first. I was told to open the wrong credit card, to finance the heat pump. And the response was “oh just cancel it”… This was the worst part of this experience, but it was still good overall. My last “encounter” with Columbia, was during the first heat wave. Our AC unit quit working, and so I tried to contact them because we were interested in replacing/upgrading the whole house with a new system. But we never heard back from them… so in total, 3 experiences, 1 great, 1 good, 1 not so good.

Appreciated their availability for discussion of hvac design and their experience that helped me understand what was possible.
